  1. I very rarely use facebook but I when I checked it the other day it had one of the people I work with as a "person you might know". I haven't updated my facebook in about 7 years so it does not know where I work. I'm not friends on facebook with anyone that works here and I have not searched for any of them on there. I also have no mutual friends in common with this person and have not actually put anything on FB for at least a couple of years. I would love to know how facebook managed to suggest her. The only thing I can think of is maybe its pulled geolocation from our phones and seen they where near each other (which is worrying as I have that disabled on my phone) or she has mentioned my name at some point on Facebook (which is unlikely).
  2. Thanks. Bit more expensive than I was hoping for but might still be an option if I cant find anything else. Lack of CD might actually be an advantage as then the teachers wont keep tilting it to get to the CD drive and break the ports/cables connected in the process. I already have a USB optical drive there so this will force people to use it Was honestly surprised how many laptops seem to have vga ports on the side (or more often none at all now as a lot have switched to hdmi). This is one of them "yeah wont take 5 minute" jobs that has kind of eaten most of the afternoon
  3. Honestly I think this is just a lip service response to keep license holders happy. I can't see it being in Netflix's best interest to do anything to drive away what are paying customers. I expect they will blacklist a bunch of public VPN's and leave it at that. Anyone that is already using VPN's will probably know enough to just switch to one that isn't blocked and everyone is happy.
  4. So I'm looking for a replacement laptop to use with the hall projector. It will live on a pull out rack shelf so can't be any bigger than 37x26x4cm and must have VGA output on the back of it (and not the sides). Ideally audio output on the back would be great but can live with it on the sides. About the most interesting thing it will do is run some powerpoints or videos so doesn't need to be anything amazing in terms of specs, budget up to about £300ish. Any suggestions? I have been looking but haven't found an easy way of looking at just laptops that have a rear VGA connection. This means I have had to look at photos of every one which is a bit of a pain.
  5. Looking forward to this starting again
  6. Not sure what type of paints you use for scale models but if it is acrylic based I would take a look at vellejo. They have a massive range, reasonable price and work great with a brush or an airbrush.
  7. Gotta say unless I had a lot of money spare I would never buy or lease a new car. I have had some cracking cars for under a grand that have done me really well. Then when I fancy a change I can resell for not too much of a loss and pick something else up for cheap. I used to switch cars a lot as well. If the worst happens and something big goes wrong on it then I can just scrap it and get something else for the cost of the repair. I have learnt to DIY a lot of the basics as well which makes me a little less worried about getting older cars. My last car (slightly modded 2.5L MG ZS) cost me £600 and I had it for 2 years before someone hit it and wrote it off. Never had an issue with it despite its age and it was a really nice car to drive. I guess there has never been a new model of car that I wanted enough to spend a bunch of money on, there is always a nice choice of cars in the 5year+ range when your biggest priority in a car is "fun to drive" .
  8. Family I don't charge and there is not really anyone I would consider a close friend so everyone else pays. Normally though it is not very much and it depends on the circumstances and situation. For example I did some minor work for a friend of my other half and didn't charge as she is a single parent who works really hard and is on a low income. However the "friend" that hasn't spoken to me for over 3 years and suddenly contacts me on facebook to say "hi" and "by the way I have this computer problem" got charged 3 times more than I normally would.
  9. Awesome! I got my first drone for Christmas off my other half and after having a play with it I can say it is certainly a lot harder than you make it look.
  10. Playing devils advocate for a moment. Most of you agree that knowing your multiplication tables is important. Why then the objection to it being something that is tested to make sure kids are actually being taught it? Putting aside the fact that as a government created site it will probably be broken and badly implemented the idea of doing a quick online test to make sure that kids are learning what they should be shouldn't be a bad thing should it? The kids here already play a bunch of multiplication games on the computers that are very similar. I don't see an issue with formally testing kids to check their progress as long as its not made into a massive deal for them (i.e. it should be part of the learning process). My oldest boy really struggled with school and was basically shunted off to the side by teachers as being too hard (ASD/ADHD so he does sometimes need a different approach to teach but he ain't stupid). Had there been testing on the basics with consequences for the teachers if students were falling behind then maybe they would have been more willing to actually help him. Its not so much about testing kids and pushing them to be able to pass tests but about putting in checks to make sure that they are learning what they need to be and identifying kids that may need extra support (or at least that is what the tests should be about).
  11. Just as a quick follow up. I got a couple of these that just arrived today: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ground-Isolator-Stereo-Aux-Input-Filter/dp/B00JWJC5JE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452168321&sr=8-1&keywords=b00jwjc5je Put on the line in socket on the amp that the laptop plugs into and problem solved. Thanks again for all the help
  12. I would love one but my PC is WAY underspec and even if I had the money spare to upgrade and buy one I still couldn't justify it yet.

    Fallout 4

He will eventually beat them. He is flagged as essential so cant be killed. I had the same thing happen to me (it isn't part of the quest, they just spawn there sometimes), even after I pick pocketed all the guns and armor off the BOS he still took forever to kill them. In theory you can stealth kill them without them turning agro. I accidentally killed a bunch of BOS people before and they are still ok with me.
  14. Yeah only worry I have about the next film is the change of director. I think Han dying was probably a condition put in by Harris Ford for him to appear in the movie. He has said more than once that he hates the character and having him get killed means he wont have to do it again. I heard him do a radio interview on the red carpet at the premiere and when he was asked about the film he basically said he didn't care and only did it for the money.

I have got to the point in all the faction quest lines where the next quest will basically cut off a faction. Going to make a save here and play through each faction, ending with the railroad last which is the faction I actually want to choose so can continue with that save. I was tempted to pick the institute because despite some of the horrible things they have done they also have the best chance of really making a difference in the commonwealth and seeing as you get put in charge of them. Then they could be a real force for good in the common wealth (especially supported by the settlements I already have working together, the minutemen and the railroad if you let the gen 3's go free). The brotherhood wouldn't like it but there wouldn't be much they could do against me. Just a shame there is no way to get an ending like that.

You can try changing the colour of the pipboy in the menu which might make it easier to read (I have to shift it to a lighter colour as I struggled with the default green colour as well). Also you can dismiss dogmeat and go it alone. Maybe its just not your type of game though?
  17. I suspect that some of that will be covered in spin off movies/TV shows. Seems like a good business move to leave a big empty space where there are possibly lots of Jedi in training and stuff going on which can be filled in with TV shows, films and merchandise options. I wouldn't expect too detailed an explanation in EP8 other than where Rey came from and how Luke feels responsible for Ren going nuts (i.e. enough info to advance the plot but vague enough they can come back in later and flesh it out with more films/TV shows). Except Luke wasn't really trained and basically had to make it up as he went along.
  18. Yeah thankfully I think we got pretty much all we paid for from them. I am surprised as we had been using them for awhile and other than that last time they had been really good. Even one time when we had a shipment of paper that just didn't like to go through printers (it was really dusty) they sent out a replacement shipment the next day. Need to find a new supplier now. KCS has been promising to match any price we can find so may just go with them.
  19. Anywhere they could be set up for "Art" use? A blank wall space to stick large sheets of card/paper on to then use the projector to throw pictures on that the kids can colour/copy? Maybe use for "decorating" area's, set up in the entrance way of the school pointing at the floor or a wall with a short welcome slideshow running on it? If you have a spare laptop/PC sitting around and a web cam I'm sure there are some DIY interactive projector display projects around on the web somewhere which could be quite good in a school.
  20. I was under the impression that Han only left after Ren had turned to the dark side and killed off the other kids training to be Jedi under Luke. Having your kid turn into the type of magical murder wizard you tried so hard to beat previously would be the kind of thing to send a guy and his Wookie buddy back to what they know best. Maybe I misunderstood it though. Really need to watch it again as the idiot in front of me at the cinema went to the toilet like 5 times during the film (and came in late) so was a few bits I missed because of that and a few others I missed because I was so annoyed at him
  21. Hmmm worrying as we are using them and have pre-paid for some amount of paper. Had a delivery of a pallet of paper just before Christmas and I did have some problems with them (wasn't delivered when it was supposed to be, hadn't been put into the system and they never got back to me to tell me how much paper we had left to draw down on). Previous to that though they had been very responsive (normally getting a pallet of paper out to us within 2 days of me calling them). Are you using the number ending in 011? Unless there is another NetPaper Paper for schools ? Netpaper ? Edit: Just been speaking to our Bursar, yes they have gone into receivership.
  22. I did really enjoy it. The only real downside to me was where Ren had a temper tantrum and smashing stuff up with with his lightsabar. This took him from being a dark, powerful, controlling character to a spoiled teenager in 1 scene. However it does kind of build his character as being one that is not in control and untrained. I need to rewatch it again but I got the impression Rye was force sensitive right from the start and she is "using the force" all the time on a subconscious level. One of the first scenes is her in a derelict ship doing some impressive climbing/jumping at great heights. Not long later she beats 3(4?) guys up at the same time without breaking a sweat. She then pilots the falcon off planet despite having never done so before. There is lots of little hints before the reveal that she is being guided by the force and is doing things that normal people can't do. Later on she is just consciously trying to use and direct it rather than unconsciously. It's not that she suddenly had force powers, its just that she has finally started to actively try to use something she had all along. She may not have been "trained" but when she has been using the force all along anyway its not that big a jump to her being able to do what she did after her "awaking" when she finds the lightsabar. As to her being able to take on Ren. It is heavily implied then Ren is not fully trained, doubts his own commitment and is not in control of himself. It is also implied that Rey is stronger (hence her ability to resist him) and is guided by the force so its not so one sided as it might seem. Also how much training did Luke really get? A few lines from Obi Wan and a couple of days with Yoda and the rest was self taught. He also wasn't shown as having been subconsciously using the force prior to this either. Seems to imply that training is not really necessary. Also looking at the Phantom Menace (....actually don't do that) Anakin is shown to use the force subconsciously as well (ability to be able to pod race, ability to fix electronics and machinery, can pilot and fly a space ship he had never even seen before). I did like the ending with Luke but they really did drag it out a bit. I need to watch it again but to me it seemed to be a good visual to show Lukes reluctance to take up the lightsabar and become a Jedi again after he failed so badly. Apparently that was lost on a few people as my brother in law said "he totally should have force pulled the lightsabar to himself" and had totally missed the point that Luke doesn't want anything to do with it. There were a few to many little "throwback" scenes for my taste. It kind of felt like the film constantly trying to reassure us that it knew which of the previous films were good and that it remembers them. I didn't mind the whole "giant deathstar" part of the story being basically the same as that really was the secondary plot and was really only in there to get Rye and Ren in the right places. My favorite scene was the X-Wings flying in low over the water and then the pilot guy (who's name I have forgotten) flying around shooting stuff down. Was some great visuals done well. It was exciting and visually spectacular without being over the top and unbelievable.

Yep got about 200 hours played on it and still haven't gone through the main quest lines. Also £10?!?!? I didn't get any games for Christmas but my Mrs wanted Farming Simulator 15 and Zoo Tycoon for the xbox (I also paid about 5 times more for them than I needed too). I have to admit I thought the idea of a "Farming Simulator" game was ridiculous but it is surprisingly a really good game (so much so that I bought a copy of it on the steam sale so I could mod it). Zoo Tycoon was not so great though. The gameplay is fairly fun but then there is a set limit on how much you can build (in a game who's sole purpose is to build up a big zoo). My Mrs hit that limit after playing for about 4 hours and then the game is basically unplayable. I had a play through to see if there way to make it playable but hit a brick wall after playing for about 2 hours. It gives you a massive space to build in but you can only use about 10% of it. Was potentially a good game ruined by 1 stupid design decision (which doesn't seem to make any sense).
  24. I would love to be staying with someone that sleeps in one of these. Would be the funniest thing ever to trip the sensor in the middle of the night when they are asleep and see what the reaction is when they are sudden dropped into a self sealing metal box
  25. Too quick almost every time (is what my Mrs might tell you.....)
