  1. I know where I'm getting my next pair of glasses from now...
  2. I think you are drinking your coffee wrong. Back on topic. Have you had your eyes checked recently, might need a different prescription. Also make sure the room you are working in is well lit. Working in a dim room staring at a bright screen all day is really bad for eye strain.
  3. Some on my other halfs facebook feed already spoiled the main plot points just to be a . My Mrs then thought it would be a good idea to read it out to me......

KCS do a pack of 10 duracell industrial for £1.99. These are the ones I buy for the school and they seem to be ok. https://www.kcswebshop.co.uk/Search.aspx?q=duracell&count=50
  5. I'm sure I replied to this but must have not actually hit post Thanks all, I have ordered a couple of Ground Loop Isolator's to test out.

OT but I really must make an effort and play through the mass effect games at some point. I have started the first one about 10 times but after about 5 hours of pretty much nothing but dialog choices I get bored. I'm all for good story telling in a game and being able to interact with the game world but it just seemed a bit much at places and the pacing seemed really slow. Everyone raves about it though so maybe I just haven't got far enough into it to get to the interesting bits.

You don't have to actually romance them to get the perks, just max their affinity. I have been a little disappointed with the vaults I have explored so far. Compared to the other fallout games they have been a little tame and not as immersive. Think I have done 5 so far (including 111), which might be all of them. I did find Covenant last night which was an interesting side quest. One of the few that have come up in this game that made me really think about which side to take and wish their had been a third option. Spoiler: I didn't agree with them torturing and killing both people and synths to perfect their SAFE test which didn't seem to work well anyway. I also didn't agree with them wanting to kill all synths. However all the people in the town had lost people to the institute and part of what they where trying to do is provide peace and safety to them. The game gives you the choice of let them live (and continue killing and torturing people) or killing them (which also means killing a bunch of people that are trying to protect themselves from an enemy that has already done them severe harm). Ideally as I have been working with the railroad I would have liked some kind of middle ground option were they could have worked with synths from the RR (without the torture) to perfect the SAFE test as this would have been of benefit to everyone, had more reliable results and would mean innocent people didn't have to die. I discussed this with my Mrs and she said "Jeez, its just a game you know!" I also did the Museum of Witchcraft last night. Fairly small area but the atmosphere of the place was spot on. It would be amazing if more of the dungeon areas were designed like this. I also wish I had gone at an earlier level because at this point I'm basically a walking tank which removed a bit of the tension from the situation.

Ummmm I thought you could have him as a companion as soon as you get him back to Sanctuary. Sometimes a pain to actually get to the part where you can ask for him to follow you though as he likes to dump 500 radiant quests on your first. I'm sure I had an option to take him with my right at the start though (I took Dogmeat instead but 99% sure Preston was an option).

Piper is really boring. The whole backstory is dull and she just seems really generic with no personality. Preston was almost the same apart from one small part of his affinity dialogue that actually felt real. Danse is also pretty dull so far but have only got the first part of his backstory out of him. Curie is my favorite, followed by Deacon. Both have interesting stories, dialogue and personality. Strong might be an interesting one as well and Nick for the short time I used him seemed really good (voice acting was spot on and he actually has a personality unlike Preston, Piper and Danse). Haven't really used any of the others yet but I'm hoping Hancock is good (in terms of story and personality) as he has a lot of potential. Yes they all to a degree have their own personal backstory that you unlock through gaining affinity with them. Some have actual quests that go with that. If you max the affinity with them they each give you a unique perk as well which you keep even if you switch them for someone else (Danse for example gives +20% damage to ghouls, mutants and humans which is pretty awesome).

Come on, it gets lonely out in the wastes. Also I have finally beaten this game!! 100% Settlement happiness and the Benevolent Leader achievement! ....What do you mean, "there are missions and storyline"?

The bot in diamond city and Curie are different but look the same and have the same voice. Think the one in DC is called Edna or something. Curie does become a romance option BTW With the right perk layout you can ignore carry weight completely. You need the perk that lets you move normally and fast travel when over encumbered at the cost of AP and the perks that increase AP regen to balance it out. Haven't done this myself yet as I need about 15 points to do it.

I finally got 2 of the last 3 companions I didn't have yet, Strong and Hancock (the last guy is the institute one and I haven't started their quests yet). Working on unlocking all of their perks and so far have Piper, Curie, Deacon and Preston (who is now wearing a sequin dress as he dumped 5 new radiant quests on me before he would even let me ask him to follow me). There are quick ways to get approval for pretty much all of them but I'm doing it "properly" by having them follow along with me, it's quite nice as you get to hear some different dialogue. Looking forward to getting my girl Curie and her flaming sword of death back though. I also finally picked up the X-01 power armor and modded it up to max with the red flames paint job and a jetpack. I don't normally use power armor but it looked so awesome I spent a couple of hours just wandering around wrecking stuff in it. Really need to go find the rest of the hotrod mags to unlock more paint jobs. I did also lose a power armor frame. In a certain area near the end is a deep water filled hole. I didn't notice it was deep until I had jumped in and sunk right to the bottom. Thankfully it was just a junk suit that I had found just before going into the area so wasn't a big loss. I also manged to swim back to it and get all the armor parts off so was only the frame left. Also picked up a really cool looking Unique weapon in the same area. One last thing if you haven't found it yet go and have a look for the robotics showroom place (NW from Starlight drive if I remember correctly). Some very funny moments in there and is one of the more interesting places I have come across so far.
  13. Just seen this pop back up so thanks for the further replies. I have pretty much given up trying to get anything out of RM at this point. When I have some free time I might try again going via our LEA. It is a hard thing to fight as I wasn't here when this was all set up and the paper work is scarce so I don't know what was promised before it was purchased. If I remember correctly the guy I spoke to at MS said if they are reselling a MAK key then that is against MS terms and conditions. He also said there is no MS agreement that would stop them from being able to pass on keys (which is what RM tell me) unless they were doing something they shouldn't be.
  14. Input sources are: a laptop running 3.5mm to 3.5mm on around a 3 meter cable. A DVD Player running RCA to 3.5mm, again around a 3m cable. I did replace both with an ipod and a galaxy s6 using half meter 3.5mm cables and it was doing the same thing. Swapping it with another amp was on my list of things to try but have xmax fair here this afternoon so will have to wait until monday to see if there is another one of these somewhere else I can switch around. I was looking at them. Do they go on the input source or the output? Edit: PS thank you both
  15. So one of the classrooms has this: Nuvo NV-WA30 Stereo Wall Mounted amplifier System: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics Basically a wall mounted 30w amp with two 3.5mm inputs that you can switch between. If you have something plugged into both inputs you get a really bad humming/buzzing noise. If you only have it plugged into 1 then it is fine. I'm not an audio expert so was just wondering if there is some trouble shooting steps I may have missed. What I have done so far: Tested with 2 entirely different input devices and cables. The problem was the same so assume I can rule out the cables and the input sources? Checked there were no power cables running near the box, there isn't but there are power and data cables running next to the speaker wires. Will try separating them to see if this helps but AFAIK they have always been set up like this and there has been no changes. Took the amp off the wall, unwired it and wired it all back up again to make sure there was no lose connections. Is there anything else I can do to troubleshoot this? Is it likely to be an issue with the amp? Thanks!

Answer: Yes she does and you can then replace her with someone useful. Also all the things she tells you come up later at certain points of the story as conversation options. Yeah that raider encounter is cool. If you read the terminals at most of the big raider sites they all have some sort of connecting story and will update when you take out one of the sites. I was trying to raise my affinity with Preston last night so decide to just grab some power armor and go do a bunch of his stupid quests while he followed along. I hadn't messed with the power armor yet so modded it up with the jetpack and a few other fun things. The jetpack is so much fun I did manage to get killed twice though which hasn't happened for a long time. Both where one shot kills from legendary's, one a Mr Gutsy the other a Raider with a Gauss Rifle. The Mr Gutsy managed to 1 shot me even with upgraded power armor on. I also used the vertibird signal for the first time last night and flew from one side of the map to the other which was a lot of fun.
  17. lol I couldn't even get the teachers here to use Windows 8, let alone Linux
  18. I have had cats all my life and always let them come and go as they please. The two girls I have at the moment are sisters that we rehomed. Both of them go out whenever they want but I do get them in at night as we have a lot of foxes where I live. One of them will only go out for a couple of hours then come back but the other will gladly be out all day, come home for dinner (always around 6pm) then go back out again. I must admit I am slightly conflicted about letting my cats out. Our last cat had its tail shredded by something a few years back and that wouldn't have happened if it was kept in. Also cats are a complete nightmare on local wildlife, one of my cats will sometimes bring back 2-3 birds/field mice in a day during the summer.

/\ Me I'm a little obsessed with this game still...... Over the weekend I did get a 2 shot gauss rifle. Almost 600 damage per shot. More importantly however I got the last 2 picket fences books and the Bunker hill caravan tents. Who wants to explore the wasteland when you can build your own city

Oh no.... I have just been told it is possible to work around the size limit of what you build in settlements on the console versions as well. The only reason I started doing the quests was because it wouldn't let place any more objects. Between this and having a new area to explore every 50ft I will never finish this game
  21. Totally not annoyed. Just look at the amazing view I have to come in to everyday.... And that view goes almost all the way around my spacious (6ftx9ft) "room"..... #DontYouJustHateSomePeople PS: That is a very beautiful view, might just print it out and stick it to my wall so I can pretend
  22. I love the idea of this but how practical is it going to be? Yes it doesn't use water but it does user binders which are going to add to the ongoing running costs and are probably more expensive then using the water. It also looks like an awfully large bit of kit so initial cost is probably going to be pretty high, which means it is only going to be purchased by companies that produce a ton of waste paper. Considering it can only spit out around 13 reams of paper a day it kind of has a small target market of: Companies that produce enough waste paper that recovering it is cheaper than this machine+running costs Don't produce enough waste that they need more than 13 reams of paper a day. Considering how cheap paper can be I'm not sure how many situations this will be cost effective in. If it could be made cheap enough though then it would be brilliant.

There is one not too far from Sanctuary/Vault 111 Minor Spolier: Head North/N. East from the vault and eventually you will come to a scrapyard that has a sentry bot in the middle of it. The Sentry bot is non-hostile and can be hacked from a nearby terminal and then set to various other locations to clear them for you. Behind the sentry bot in one of the cars is a Fatman. Edit: take the holodisk from the terminal and then you can control the sentry bot from your pip boy. I'm still undecided if I keep them alive or not. When I first listened to the elders speech at the start when you get on the airship I did murder them all on the spot but decided it might be better to reload the save and play through the questline a bit to see what I can get out of them first My favorite companion at the moment is Curie so can't really side with a faction that would be quite happy to kill her. I did also accidentally murder a bunch of them. They where off in the distance and I thought they were gunners so sniped all 5 of them. Its only when I went to loot them that I noticed they where BOS #SorryNotSorry
  24. We use Inegral flash drives with AES 256bit encryption. They don't need any additional setup and are really easy to use. They can be used on Windows and Mac's. They have brute force protection that doesn't destroy the drive like some hardware encryption drives do (but does destroy the data). They are cheap.

Slight thread high jack but just in case someone has a quick answer. Is there a viable alternative to sky subscription if you want to have Sky Atlantic, Fox, Watch and Sci-Fi channel? There are only a few TV's shows we really watch and they are all on these 4 channels but I couldn't find any other single service that offered them all which would be cheaper.
