Having exactly the same issue with my home rig at the moment (recently added SSD, new GPU and CPU, also have the same PSU I think), only seems to be on one specific game for me but I haven't really tried any others (benchmarking/stress test programs have run fine for over an hour though). For this kind of fault it is normally temp, power, faulty hardware, in that order. Temps look fine on yours so next thing I would check is voltages/amps on the PSU. It might have been fine on the old rig but maybe the new CPU has a higher current draw which is enough to push the PSU into overload. You can try using something like HWmonitor to check voltages but seeing as it completely locks the PC when it happens it may not show you anything. I would try disconnecting everything that isn't needed and has a power draw (including USB devices) and then underclock your processor and test the stability. If that seems to resolve the problem set the CPU back to stock and test again. If that is still ok reconnect everything else one bit at a time and test. If you get to a point that it becomes unstable again it may be that the last thing you connected has a problem, however it might also be that was just the thing that pushed the PSU into overload mode. One other thing I would try doing is running some stress test programs to max out the CPU/GPU, disk and memory read/writes and see if you can force it to happen. If you can consistently make it happen on demand it makes trouble shooting a little easier. Really frustrating problem to deal with as it is so inconsistent, thought I had solved it at the weekend as it run all day with no problems, then Monday night it crashed twice in an hour. Because it is just hard locking the system there is no good way (that I have found) to log exactly what is happening when it goes wrong. I suspect that the problem for both of us is that the PSU needs upgrading to something with better ampage. It is probably working right at the limits when on full load and it just takes that one thing to push it over, hence why it is so inconsistent when it fails.

Yeah by default I think CC4 redirects the desktop folder. Have you checked on the server to see if you can find the file there? For us the file structure is \\server\RMUsers\Usergroup(i.e. students, teachers)\Profiles\individual profile folders Find the profile folder for that user and check the desktop folder inside that. There may be multiple versions of their profile folder labeled "name.v2", etc so check the ones that have been accessed most recently. Not sure what generates the different versions (assuming health check/profile resets). If the file is there make a backup of it and then run a health check on that user under the CC4 RMMC. Ours messes up user profiles fairly regularly here and running the health check normally sorts it out and they should then be able to access the folder. Of course it might be the other way round that they had saved it locally to the laptop then logged in and it has redirected the desktop to the server so they cannot see the local version anymore. In theory if this happened the folder should still be there under C:\Users\Username\Desktop

On the off chance anyone in the future ever runs into the same problem and finds their way here I think I have solved it. If you remove the drum and look at the cut edge of the master sheet you will probably see two ink marks on it. Lift up the sheet and there are two small round recesses. This had just got gunked up with ink over time and was transferring ink to the edge of the master sheet. This was then making contact with the pressure roller once the paper had cleared which meant the next sheet through was getting ink on the back of the page. Cleaned these out and cleaned off the pressure roller and it all seems to be working fine again now.

Probably a long shot but does anyone know what to look for on this? Basically it is printing black marks on the back of the page. I have cleaned the main pressure roller which is where the ink is getting and being transferred to the paper but then after about 20 prints the roller gets ink on it again and starts leaving marks. Not sure how the ink is getting down to the roller, guessing the drum is making contact with it after the paper goes through and gradually building up a spot of ink on it. I have tried different combinations of ink speed and density but not sure what else to look at. Any ideas?

Not really bought it as its free to play but have got really into Path of Exile. If you like ARPGS like the Diablo series you will love it. Has an awesome way of doing skills and level progression. Main skills are on gems that you can find/buy in the world and attached to your weapons and armor in sockets. These can then be combined in "linked" sockets to give extra effects (i.e. add fire damage to an attack, etc). The skill tree itself is massive and shared across all the classes. The only difference between the classes is starting stats and where they start in the skill tree. This means that you can basically build your characters out however you want. There is also a good crafting system that lets you create your own items, make junk items into something more useful and upgrade current items. I have paid the $20 for premium increased stash size (mostly just because I have already had $20 of entertainment out of it so seems fair) but there is no element in the game at the moment that you actually need to pay for. All the other microtransactions are purely cosmetic.

I'm feeling slightly conflicted about this as in principle I mostly agree that proper hands on learning and more practical life skills are lacking in a lot of schools. This school seems to have gone too far the other way though. Technology is everywhere now and will be even more so when these kids go out into the real world looking for work. I don't see how putting them years behind the rest on something important is useful. My 10 year old really loves tech and will most likely end up working in the industry when he is older as it is something he really enjoys. If he went to this school he might not have had that opportunity to find that passion. However on the other hand their could be a lot of kids in more "mainstream" schools that would love to be doing farming work or something more hands on and they are also missing out on that chance to find their passion. My sons school had 1 morning a week of "forest school" were the kids work out in the woods doing physical work, learning how to make fires, cook and make shelters, etc. The kids love it and I would love things like this to be part of the mainstream curriculum. Short version: In an ideal world most schools would find a better balance between practical/life skills learning and "curriculum" learning. In reality most schools are too worried about ticking the boxes for ofsted to try anything that might effect that.

My youngest got portal knights at the weekend and it does look pretty good. BTW my Mrs is very happy about you guys suggesting POE as it has eaten a serious amount of my time over the last few days (its ok, I bought her "the long dark" on the xbox so that should distract her for at least another week ). POE was a very good fit for what I was looking for. Very simple to get started with and easy to play the basics if you have played any ARPG before. The passive skill tree and the way the skill gems work and interact though is seriously awesome and adds so much depth and customization. Then when you get to the item gearing and crafting there is yet another layer of customisation and things to learn. I found a blackmaws talisman really early on (think it may even have been act 1 on normal) and initially didn't realise how good it was so left it in the stash. Was only much later that I looked at it again and figured out it trebled my DPS. Still waiting for it to not be good so I can use what I was planning to but still adding about 600dps at the moment (at level 52 in Cruel act 3).

I feel slightly stupid that I never once picked up that "booking" in the booking.com adverts was used as a replacement for a swear word...

Haven't watched Ep3 yet but can't say I have been overly impressed so far. Not terrible but it does seem rushed to cram in as much stuff as possible with very little actual emotion in the acting/script. Maybe this was always the case but episode 1 for example Mulder is introduced to a group of people that have created a UFO and he basically has no reaction to it, no questions and nobody says who these people are or what they are doing (unless I missed it). I know by this point they have seen a lot of strange stuff but still. Also he made a big deal about the girl being the key to the whole thing and the proof of what was going on but I think a working UFO would be much more compelling evidence and him bringing that into the public light never seems to cross his mind? This is partly why I never watched the last few seasons of it, lots of inconsistent conspiracy theory stuff crammed in and no real sense of connection to any of it.

Honestly a lot of the pricing is going to depend on exactly what you are after/size of room. For example you can get LED bulbs that work in standard fittings for a few quid but if you want some purpose installed LED lighting it could cost hundreds. Same for carpet, bog standard carpet might be £3-4 a square meter up to £20-30 for something fancy, then add underlay cost (which has its own set of options) plus fitting and prices can vary a great deal. Personally I would do the lighting and skirting myself and get the carpet fitted by someone with the right tools and experience (laying carpet properly sucks, especially if you have a strange shaped room or need a join).

I would love to see technology being used to really create engaging, memorable educational content. Things like VR could be amazing. Learning about Victorian London, put on the VR headsets and go and explore it in person. See something in there that you want to discuss in class, send a model of it to the 3D printer. Being able to actually "experience" things rather than just read about them in a book/website I think would get kids a lot more interested in things that they normally don't care too much about. Sadly this is not likely to happen, deployment cost would be too high, teachers would need to really embrace the technology and be well supported, not to mention people would have to develop educational software that wasn't complete trash. Like most of you I see a lot more moving to the cloud and online services happening.

Really sorry to hear that. My only advice would be to find a vet that you trust and follow their advice. Animals can sometimes appear to be fine but are in fact in a large amount of pain, on the other hand sometimes they can have a lot of problems but still live quite happily for a long time. A good vet will know which is the case and tell you the truth.

My boys where playing it over the weekend. It looks nice but there really didn't seem to be anything to do. They spent most of their time killing people in the darkzone then rushing to get the loot lifted out before they got taken down. Even that they got bored of fairly quickly.

Thanks all so far. In no particular order: Ark - Played this quite a bit already. Yes it is an awesome game but honestly it doesn't really have the depth I'm craving at the moment. Character progression is pretty much the same for everyone and the only real complexity is in the building side of things. Fallout 4 - Have about 200 hours in it and all the xbox one achievements. Loved it, loved the settlement building. Need some time before I can play it again Rust - Honestly I haven't looked at this one too much. I kind of thought it was more along the lines of a Day Z type PVP survival game. SWGEmu - Really, really tempted to get into this. I have always held off for 2 reasons. One I don't want to ruin my memories of it and two I'm not sure it will be the same without the community I used to play with. Subnautica - Got it. Great game but seems fairly limited in what you can do still at the moment. Witcher 2 and 3 - I really wanted to like these but I actually really struggled to get into Witcher 2. Maybe I need to revisit it and give it another chance but played for a couple of hours and it didn't really grab me. Shadow Run - I have heard of this game but never looked at it in detail or played it. Will check it out Path of Exile - Sounds familiar but know nothing about it. Really like the idea of open skill tree's and loved Diablo so will certain give this a look. Barbie Horse adventure - Looking for something that isn't quite so hardcore Edit: Dragon age Origins - I have already spent a LOT of time on this game . Completed it about 3 times (with the DLC) on the xbox. Then I got it for the PC and modded the hell out of it and played it a bunch more. This is a good example though of what I enjoy about a game. Each character had a fairly open set of skills you could pick from, lots of them skills interacted with each other giving even more variety and possible combinations and then you could select different party members and items to really create exactly what you wanted. Lots and lots of choices and ways to do things with good progression from weak to super powerful. Heros of the Storm - Is that the Blizzard game? Havent looked too much at that yet.

I'm kind of in a position were I'm really in the mood for gaming but the games I have are kind of stale and nothing new that I have seen really caught my interest. Just wandering if anyone on here might be able to suggest something that might be worth taking a look at. Ideally what I'm looking for is something that has some sort of deep "progression" while being fairly open. I would also like something that is not super stressful and slightly more casual (in terms of if I make a mistake it wont put me back hours or days). Ideally PC based but have pretty much all the consoles/handhelds from the last 10 years except PS4. I don't care if it is online or offline, single or multi player, RPG or FPS, etc. Some examples of kind of what I'm talking about and looking for. Modded minecraft packs - Lots of progression from nothing up to massive complex systems. Lots of varied options and fairly relaxing to play. Added bonus is being able to build things and be creative. Starwars galaxies - The crafting and skills systems. Skills progression was linear, you could take skills from multiple classes and remove them to train something else at will. The crafting system was the best one I have ever seen in a game were two people with the same skills could make the same item but it would be completely different depending on how they made it. I would love to play a game with this kind of depth in the crafting again. Banished/Cities skylines - Very different games but again I like the starting from nothing and slowly working your way up to massive functioning cities without worrying about getting attacked/everything being destroyed. Xcom/FF tactics advanced- Similar to the above, starting out with a small group of soldiers and slowly unlocking/collecting new tech/items and having choice about how your groups skill up and advance. I will probably pick up xcom2 but honestly I think I will find the timed missions fairly tiring and probably will only play it in short bursts. Any suggestions gratefully received

Honestly to me what you posted doesn't seem to bad. Unclogging vents and resealing the windows you could do yourself. "Adjusting" the door that is leaking probably a 10 minute job with a screwdriver. Even removing old vents and placing new ones isn't too big of a job to do yourself. The only things I would personally consider needing to get someone in to look at is the chimney flashing (I wouldn't want to be working on a roof) and the rendering (which I don't know enough enough about to do it myself). If it was me I would get a couple of quotes for the roof & rendering and then also ask them how much to do the vent work as well. If it comes in budget then great if not I would walk away or discuss it with the seller.

The vendor cap limit is annoying. There is a perk you can take that increases how many caps they have though. Also if you are selling massive amounts of stuff to them and they don't have the caps buy ammo instead. It doesn't weight anything and you can trade it back later for other things you might want. Assaultrons are probably the hardest enemy in the game. That laser blast is pretty much designed to be a 1 shot kill no matter what armor you have on.

The English language really is a mess. One thing that has always got me is words that are spelled the same but pronounced differently depending on context. Wind - Either I forgot to do it to the clock or I have it really badly after eating an extra large portion of sprouts? Bass - An instrument or a fish? Polish - Someone from Poland or something to rub on my table?

lol I used that expression the other day when I was describing someone to my other half, she didn't get the reference... Taking my oldest boy to watch this tonight. Not a massively into Deadpool but really looking forward to something a little different.

We had the mother in law round and had pancakes for dinner. The Mrs got in a TON of toppings (from ice cream to marshmallow and chocolate spread), surprisingly both the boys stuck with the orange and lemon juice. Only downside to pancakes is that I have to cook them and only have 1 decent pancake pan. By the time everyone else is full (takes awhile with 2 growing boys) and I get to cook some for myself I'm normally starving. My sister in law always buys the pre-made batter. No idea why, you don't even need to measure the ingredients, break a few eggs in a bowl, splash of milk and then add plain flour until it is whatever thickness you want. Then again this is also the woman who once phoned us to ask how long a vienetta ice cream needs to defrost for (my Mrs wouldn't let me tell her to put it in the microwave for 2 minutes ).

How are people finding it? The reviews I have looked at are a bit mixed, some people saying its brilliant, exactly like the first one but better. Other people are moaning that there are too many timed missions and that your choices on how to complete missions are really limited. Really contemplating getting it (i.e. valentines day is coming up and I keep mentioning it to the Mrs ), but if there are issues I would prefer to just leave it until the next steam sale.

Yep same here. I want a car that is built around good engineering, not technology. Probably a reason I tend to buy Shed's for the most part. I want something that is solid and can be fixed, by me, without fancy tools. I drive the Mother in law's car occasionally and it is really annoying. Don't have your seatbelt on, I'm going to beep at you constantly even if you are just backing off the drive to swap cars. Handbake is just a button and when the electrics for that fail your handbreak is going to be locked on and the replacement part has to be programmed to match your vin number. Running low on petrol, let me make a super loud buzzing noise at your unexpectedly when you are driving. Oh no the PCB for the dash has failed, enjoy not being able to see engine temp, speed, revs or how much petrol you have. Want to keep your engine running at night but have the lights off because you are parked, nope I'm just gonna put them on automatically for you. Every car I have owned I could pull out 90% of the electronics and it would still run just fine. Apart from my current car (which is a semi-automatic) I have always had 100% control over it as well. I don't want my car telling me how to drive or doing things for me. Edit: @nikaso That is exactly the kid of car I like

Yep that's the cartridge I had (Flimbos Quest was awesome as well). Used to love the games on cartridges because you didn't have to wait 5 minutes for it to load Had terminator 2 and Navy Seals on cartridge as well. Don't think I ever completed any of them, games where either a lot harder back then or I just sucked at them when I was a kid.
