My Personal favorite, most commonly used by 'luxury' car drivers, is stick in the left lane, take the third exit on the roundabout, join the motorway and cut straight into the outside lane there and tailgate who evers in front. I think I'm starting to dislike driving.

I never mentioned someone hit me on a roundabout too around 3 weeks ago, it was a mini roundabout and I essentially needed to do a u-turn as I had missed the exit earlier on so needed to turn around. Indicator on right the whole and the Mazda that pulled out assumed nobody ever does that on a roundabout, caused a crash and wrote my car off! Splendid that was, best bit is he still hasn't admitted liability! My insurance has said it's indefinitely his fault, but I have to wait for the tennis game they'll be playing for 'up to 90 days'

Today it was people sticking in the left and getting off on the third exit, then beeping me when I'm trying to exit. Why? Because the left is flowing faster and it flows faster, because it doesn't join the motorway

That's what I was taught and I'e never forgot, but it's the sheer amount of people that do it, baffles me.

This is a bit of a rant really about roundabouts with two lanes and whether people are misusing them or I'm missing something. It's a bit after 16:30, rush hour traffic and I'm sitting in the left lane, waiting to go straight on at a roundabout, the traffic in my lane is backed up a bit whereas in the right, it's flowing a tad more. I'm at the front, cue the Audi driver who wants to get home more than everyone else waiting in the queue of traffic I've been sat in for the last 5 -10 mins. Hello road rage. As I'm proceeding to go straight on, the Audi attempts to turn left, from the right lane, nearly hitting me, then has the cheek to start giving me the odds, at this point, I'm screaming at him, typical road rage angry words... Basically this isn't the first time it's happened. Am I missing something when I say the left lane is for turning left and going straight and right lane for turning right and maybe straight on? (although it's good not to) Has anyone else any experience of seeing this and is it even allowed or is it typical poor and impatient driving again?

It seems that's the way they recommend setting it up: Tour - Google Cloud Print - PaperCut It mentions "Managing mapping of Google Accounts to Domain or PaperCut User Accounts", so maybe register the exchange accounts for Google print services? Plus Google accounts and management are free for schools I think, so might give you a good reason to shift the students from exchange to Google? Seems to be the way of a lot of schools now, free and easy.

Should do it yourself, as said, it's actually fun. I'd recommend a caged projector (we fit these in sport halls and never had any issues), electric screen and around 6-10 JBL control speakers spaced evenly either side of the sports hall pointing to the middle, then use the mixer channels A and B to stop the sound bouncing around too much. These are cracking speakers, light, easy to install, cheap and pack an incredible punch!

Seems a good little server for the price! Just make sure you opt for the extra RAM, not much more money and better safe than sorry, also a bit of future proofing! What's their current licencing situation?

Positives for me: -Good wage for my age -I get to travel a lot -Enjoy working -A lot of responsibility -Meeting people constantly The main negative for me reflects somewhat of what arwen said, people don't appreciate you or say thank you, but if somethings not working, hell breaks loose. I've had it in past where I've checked every classroom, physically walked round and had a chat with every teacher asking for issues, for one to send an email to my boss saying something hasn't been working for weeks! I had to explain that I'd actually spoke to her and she said everything is fine. Had a few incidents like that and it really does irritate me. Call queue, phones, emails and they can't be bothered and instead kick up a fuss.

When I worked for a CC4 school, we created a virtual machine and packaged it as normal and deployed it to the IT classes it was needed in. To be honest, seeing as it's now compulsory, there should be some RM tech articles related to this matter.

Only thing I can think of is the printer could be going into out of box mode somehow or as I find, teachers pressing the wrong thing! Failing that a driver update/rollback could help?

Having used both, iPads. I find learnpads hellish, they break a lot, staff can't use them as easy, chargers are flimsy, tablets are flimsy, cheaply made, painfully slow. I really don't like them anymore, suppose I'm biased. I'd much rather a Mac Mini server or Meraki setup with iPads to be honest, once they're set up (which I agree, is the painful bit), they're easy to manage and very very rarely go wrong. Plus the support and frequent updates from Apple mean the iPads probably gonna have a longer lifespan too.

This is what we did. Quite a few solutions to it. Virtual box seems to work the best, also has the option to delete the image every time they log in and out, so no matter how much they try it break it, it'll fix itself. Saving work was where it got awkward. We had the pupils home drive mapped into the VM, it did worry me a bit as it meant they could try and circumvent certain things, but luckily this never happened. Best thing is to keep try breaking it in the ways the kids will and you'll know what settings you need to implement and what not to make it work, then monitor its usage and what the kids do for a few weeks too.

Could be if it was listed in the directory for students to see, they could be clicking the test print options and what not?

You can pick up a server to manage all that easily, a Quad Xeon and 8GB RAM should do it easily, Dell towers are competitively priced, tower or server. Though it may be cheaper to add your own hard disks All easily for around £1k I forgot to mention!

That^ I've the same issue with Fujutsu and RM machines. Had to install the intel LAN driver and facility then manually configure it on each machine. Was quite a tax and I was annoyed I couldn't do it from BIOS, but it worked!

I agree too. I feel sorry for the next Apprentice (that's right, told me they couldn't afford me then got another). If there skill set and knowledge going into my old job are poor or they expect someone to be there, I fell sorry for them. They'll be another years cheap labour, but hopefully they'll get something back!

Work as a mobile tech now in the North West, mainly for primaries. Really enjoying it at the moment 😊

Having been an apprentice here are my views: Already being fairly knowledgeable, but not having the work experience to back it up, I decided to take on an apprenticeship. I spent one year on site in a school and I was meant to go college once a week. The end result was me never going to college as there was only me and one other tech and I never actually finished my qualification. But I did learn a shed load and I've come to realise it is experience you need for a career in this sector, more so than a qualification During my year I learnt: -Server 2003 -Server '08 -MDT -Patching -Cabling -Imaging -Installing projectors -Fitting and configuring switche -Complete network overhaul -Classroom overhauls -Exchange 2010 So overall, I learnt a load and but the theory I had into practice and actually ended up managing the network on days the admin was off. The only sad bit was there were a lot of bitter feelings when I left, after the year working for I what I can only describe a slave wage, I was told they couldn't afford to keep me on and had never planned on doing from day one. Ouch. The senior tech fought to get me to stay, but my chances may have been slimmed when I told my line manager what I thought about how he treated me and the situation. When I left it seriously felt like a year wasted. I took a couple of weeks off then started applying for more jobs and goodness, I'd never had so many responses! Every position I applied for I received a reply to and even got to the interview stage on most. Within 6 weeks of leaving, I landed a job with a company car, phone, laptop and a wage I could only ever have dreamed of!
