Just out of curiosity, why does it need to run on AAs?

I've used BGInfo on servers before, how do I get it to come on at the logon screen?

First off, sorry if this is in the wrong section When I used to work alongside RM systems, the only good thing I liked was the banner across the logon screen that displayed the school name, PC name and PC network status. Does anyone know of anything similar or an alternative to this? Even just LAN status at logon screen could help us loads but I can't seem to find anything. Thanks!

We've had teachers doing it for a while. It's for non profit and educational use and sometimes used as a reward. Doesn't bother me, I can't imagine anyone ever trying to take legal action on a School, just imagine the headlines and negative publicity the company would get over something petty.

I used to be the same, but with less money, always upgraded for no reason, since I've started driving 3 years ago, II sold my i5 rig, then this year bought a new i3 rig with a 750ti to play TF2 and minecraft and what not and I still haven't built it, been there since Christmas It kinda makes me wanna put it together, but then it involves some form of effort on my part haha

Could you not use something like Google Cloud Print?

If you don't mind used/refurb you can get dell 17" screens with DVI, VGA and USB, then get a HDMI-DVI cable that could be a very cheap option, talking £20 per screen and they're good screens!

I'm soooooooo close to buying one. Always wanted one and Apple Configurator is more of an excuse, but the cost is so hard to justify!

The Acer Acer K222HQL can be had for £77. 21.5" Full HD, but they don't have USB unfortunately.

Hi all, After a cheap Mac that'll support Yosemite, preferably an older MacBook as it'll only be for configuring iPads and don't really splashing out on something I don't know if I'll use at all, more to see if Apple Configurator is any good

Just reminds me of an IT Teacher where I used to work. Kicked up a fuss about the change from XP to 7 and after explaining how it's compulsory, it just didn't sink in. She also frequently mad calls for sound not working (she'd unplugged it), PCs not working (sometimes they weren't switched on), smartboard not working (unplugged by her for her pen drive), printers not working (sending it to the default fax printer). For an IT teacher, she didn't know much about the basics of IT...

I'd go for a 4K TV, they've come down a lot. And to be honest, whenever I've looked, larger monitors now seem to exceed the cost of a 32" TV. If you want cheap, a quick internet search should return you a 40" full HD LG TV for around £240. 720P TVs I've seen for around £160 at supermarkets.

There's a roundabout near me where some lights have been put in and questions from everyone seem to be; why? I use that roundabout almost on the daily from all entrances/exits depending where I'm working and it was always steady flowing, the lights seemed to have made it a lot slower and now traffic backs up onto the previous roundabout causing a back log, my journey time since these 'improvements' have definitely decreased. Idea probably came from the moron who thought open plan classrooms were a good idea...

We have a few schools that have both iPads and Learnpads. The Learnpads they have are the original generation with the flimsy chargers, poor build quality and slow hardware, this is probably why the staff and myself don't get on with them. The concept of them and the apps are great but I think I'd go with Mako on this one, get some Samsung tabs and put the Learnpad software on them, it'll probably be a lot nicer to use and the fact it's a known branded tablet then is also a plus. I've generally found though, the kids and staff preferthe iPads, why? Well: -Shiny Apple logo -Everyone knows how to use them, they're so simple -Apple support is outstanding -Really good battery life -Good hardware -Regular software updates and fixes Negatives: -Management is a bit of a pain -Tend to go missing often -Chargers go walkies too -Apps can be expensive -More expensive Personally, I'd go iPad, I know they'll work and I know they'll get used.
