Primary schools, 365 all the way. Why? Because it's free, it is indefinitely secure (most self hosted email servers are probably much less secure) and it's simple. High Schools on the other hand, 365 for students, internally hosted for staff. The main benefit of hosting internally is if the internet or O365 goes down, staff can still easily contact each other and admin staff can continue with their work with emails being pushed out once issues are resolved.

I'd say the best route may be to disable sleep mode, stop USB ports going to sleep and disable hibernate too, only allow screen off/shutdown. That's why I tend to do, it's not ideal, but sleep mode in the past has caused me too many headaches, plus if someways away from a computer long enough for it to sleep, it should be off in my eyes.

There's used ones on the bay of e for between £70 and £170. Probably cheaper to buy a used one than trying to fix?

Is it a serial connection on these boards?

I've had it in the past where a student has done this, goes to the change password screen just before the teacher was going to lock them, but then they press cancel and as soon as RM Tutor refreshed (max 30 secs), it locked them out. Best bet is to trial it on one machine and try and break it, like you probably do with most software

It's more of a permissions issue than a bug with the software. If you've got access to task manager, you can kill any resource off. If you're having similar issues, just disable task manager completely for students, they should never need it anyway.

Having used 10 since day one at home, I'll definately be installing it on my work laptop. I've had very little bugs and on an SSD it feels like the fastest OS I've used. Not tried it on a domain yet, so as for rolling it out through our schools, it'll have to be tested with all the ancient software/staff first.

It is a pain as the teachers look at me like I'm stupid, they think it's broke, when technically it isn't, just seems of a poor quality.

What board is it? We have a similar issue with the latest Smart Boards that have a separate PSU instead of being powered by USB. Usually for us turning the plug for the board on and off fixes it, but it i in no way ideal and I've tried to find a fix (reimage, new drivers, old drivers, different PCs) but it seems site wide with the new boards.

Usually at primary schools: -Old books -Broken things -actual stationery Then it is usually piled all on top of a server, because they don't tend to have dedicated space for them, or if it were ever in its own cupboard, no doubt someone would come along and pile crap on it.

Always leave slack in case you need to move it, other than that, match up the colours. Really easy.

Cheapest method on an old car is to fit a kill switch on the ignition wiring, obviously further down the harness, then hide a switch somewhere. Cheap and very effective.

If I'm asked, I'll help. I love lighting desks, so many buttons! And moving heads, it's just more expensive toys to play with.

Have you tried deleting it from DHCP and ipconfig /renew too? I had similar issue once and those two steps solved it.

CMD: netsh wlan show profiles netsh command could be helpful and the command above will show all the profiles it has

Someone tailed get me the other week, so much so they hit me when I stopped at the roundabout. Flashed my brake lights, slowed down then up to try increase the gap, but this made him somewhat irate and then when he drove into me somehow it was all my fault! Some people should be taken off the road, he was most certainly a not right.

Undoubtedly the Mini will be faster as the CPUs are miles better. It's the chassis I miss and the fact it's actually rack mountable and easy to upgrade. I know you can mount minis, but nothing beats the real deal!

Still a shame they stopped selling the xserve, Mac Minis are sufficient for most uses and Mac Pros are way too expensive and too oddly shaped to be practical.

I've had one person say to me since we took over their school, the IT Support and system have been miles better. Made my day a bit as not many people appreciate us, just rant and rave when somethings broke and then no thank you!

Not enough time to do it yourself? As sad as it sounds, cabling is actually a fun job and the savings are huge, plus it's quite easy as long as mean networking.

I understand why people used to use IE, as it integrated with GP. But Chrome is just as easy now and solves so many issues for us, plus we need to use it anyway for MIT App Inventor! No excuses

In all fairness IE is gonna be dead soon anyway, so I don't blame them for not supporting it. The website will probably be supported when the new browser comes out from Microsoft, Edge/Spartan.
