I've just come back from the post box, you should have them by the weekend.

Ideally the motherboard should be removed from the case, all ports checked for damage and then tested on a bench with a known working cpu/heatsink&fan , psu, stick of memory connected to a known working monitor. I've encountered PCs that won't boot due to a lost screw shorting between the motherboard and case, damaged ports and faulty hard drives. If there still isn't a picture it's cpu or motherboard.

They are M2.5 x 12mm wafer head machine screws. I can drop a couple in the post if you like ?

What motherboard /AIO is it ?

Which all in one is it ? Is the screen working ? have you checked for damaged ports ?

Cracked screen can not be repaired only replaced.

£90 is about the price for a reball which is the proper way to do it. Expensive for a reflow which has a very high probability of failing again.

I have loads of spare keyboards i keep for keys. If you have a decent photo i'll see if i have one i can send. If not ebay for single keys. It works out much cheaper than a whole keyboard.

Have you done a reboot of your Galaxy ? Can you check your emails another way ? Earlier in the year it was discovered a specially crafted email would crash the app. Maybe delete if one has been sent. Try clearing your cache and you could always reinstalled if none of the above works.

Can the leaky battery not be removed and replaced as well as the leaky capacitor ? I was recently given a BBC Micro with Cub monitor and am expecting to have to replace the leaky caps before i turn it on.

My lowest usage has been 94GB a month going up to 210GB this year. Lots of Windows updates and drivers, I stream and torrent. On a side note, I've just discovered dd-wrt has very nice usage graphs and stats.

Over the 5 years I was a motor mechanic I worked at an independent a main dealer and for a couple of fast fit garages with one being a large chain. Small independant. We didn't sell what didn't need doing with customer rapport was important and apart from the boss putting on an inch of clag instead of pulling the dent on a car he was doing up I saw nothing dodgy going on. Ok maybe the £10 blood bonus was cheeky. Main dealers...the sales men were crooks, I heard them often say the warranty covered everything and they also used dubious documents to get finance. They also sold cars with known defects and when the customer complained the delaer claimed on the warranty that had been sold with the car. I only worked in the big name fast fit place (not Kwik fit or halfords) for one day. Customer had a blowing exhaust o ring. Cost a couple of quid. I was told the mechanics got a basic wage and commission and to tell the customer they needed a new exhaust costing over a hundred pounds. I refused to bs the customer, worked my day and never went back. I think as in all trades and businesses there will be those that are good and those that aren't. The independents I know will give you a far better service than a main dealer as evertthing had a book time and wheels rarely came off during the small services.

Have you tried with the AC adapter unplugged ? is it genuine ?

i have encountered this a couple of times. Faulty mouse or a hair on the sensor or faulty USB controller.

from a couple of laptops I've done recently. I have a compressor, but will always strip down, clean and apply new paste as part of a service. It only adds about 20 minutes to the job and i know it's properly done, with no dust hiding anywhere and without causing a mess/health concern. Sometimes the buildup is so bad air wouldn't shift it anyway. Causing the fan to blow at high speed isn't good for it either.

Dust buildup between the fan and the heatsink (i've seen this build up to a few mm) and the thermal paste also dries out.

Have you tried reinstalling the exe from hp to see if the problem still exists ?

Yes, perhaps i should have been a little clearer, although my post was not a recommendation for everyone to start poking in the back of their TV. The voltages from the CCFL HV inverters is in the 1-3kv range and plasma TVs also have high voltages in them. Whilst powered on some heatsinks also have high voltages passing through them. It seems my 23" Dell monitor does not have speakers although the picture is fine there is no sound. I am waiting for a suppression cap for a 27" that does have speakers so will be able to test fully when it arrives.

TVs are fine to work on, I've been doing it for months. There is only one capacitor that holds a charge after turning the TV off and that is easily discharged, the rest dissipate after a few minutes. Could be a cap issue or it could be something else. Bulging/leaking caps are obvious, half the time you need a an ESR meter to detect ones out of spec. I'm off out on a job now but i'll hook up my Dell monitor with HDMI to my Virgin box when i get back. Apart from the sound issue as mentioned above i can't see a problem.
