If the GPU was faulty there would be no output to an external monitor. It looks like an LED screen so no inverter, ensure the battery is removed before unplugging the monitor cable as they can blow a fuse on the motherboard. There are people out there that repair laptops professionally, decent ones will have all the necessary kit like a BGA rework station. Whilst the oven trick can work usually only for a short while, it still doesn't replace the lead free balls or the possibly as is quite common the chip. That guide above also misses out the most important part of the reflow and that is adding flux. That stuff you do not want in an oven you cook food in !! In short find a professional and it will cost less than £80 even if they have to replace the chip.

The graphics BGA is known to be faulty on these. Sometimes repaired with a reball but usually the chip has to be replaced.
