Unless it'd really cruddy i wouldn't suspect the battery connectors, it's more likely to be a shorted IC. MLCC are sensitive to water also and fail easily. If you want to take photos of any suspect areas i can try to help further. I can't find any schematics or boardviews but if you have a multimeter you can compare voltages etc with the working board to try and locate the dead parts. The AXM761 module is SFP+ maybe the ports you are plugging it into are only SFP ?

Easy enough to clean or replace the USB sockets. Not sure what the battery acid stuff is as there isn't any in laptops, more likely to be contaminants in the water i think or something that was in the bottom of the tray and splashed on the USB. That looks more like corrosion than a burn, gently clean the area with IPA and a toothbrush. There are people/companies out there that do component level repair. I've just repaired a Samsung laptop that wouldn't power on from the charger. Cost £1 for the component on a £120 motherboard.

I thought back EMF was found when motors are concerned. I'm guessing that the shock is more likely to be a charge held in the capacitors of the power supply. Most of the big names offer soft start as an option but they look to be fairly integrated with the electrics inside the trolley, have you checked with the manufacturer of yours to see its now offered ?

If it's random, it's possible a power supply issue, I've recently repaired a load of similar Netgear switches that had capacitor issues.

I'd be avoiding the Philips. Its their name on the front but they don't make them.

A sticker under the battery helps too for when the ones on the edge get peeled off.

Sounds possibly like a faulty startup capacitor on the RAID card.
