I think you are - there is a drop down box that allows you to select various options, one of which is "Ad Hoc" - this lets you set a start and finish date? This is under the Reports tab, Printer.

Only any use if the PC is set to boot from a floppy though...

Full room solution APC. Runs 3 and a bit server racks, and the comms cabinet, and has enough gigglyamps to keep the whole thing up for about 2 hours if necessary. Every socket in the room runs through it, and there are 4 commando sockets for the rack PDU's.

We use it here - just coming to the end of our three year agreement in Summer, and I've already renewed and upgraded to an enterprise level box.. can't fault it really, and tech support is excellent.

You can use iTunes in activation mode to activate many devices without configuring accounts if you want the kids to have their own accounts. The devices can be locked down and some configuration done with the iPhone Configuration Utility (which is done via a USB connection), and there is in fact a network config tool of sorts based around SCEP and Mobile Device Manager (MDM)... your mileage may vary with this though.

We're running Xen Desktop with Wyse Zentihs here, on a VMWare hosted infrastructure. 250 desktops are available for use at any time, either on site, or remotely via our Citrix Portal. If anyone wants to come and have a look, they are welcome.

There is a single sign-on option for Live@Edu, which also provides 25Gb online storage and other Live services for online collaboration, including live editing of Office docs.. not seen the Google one though, so can't compare really.

We just have the TVT-250 web filtering solution in.. it was about 8K for three years (which included installation, training and advanced replacement), so much cheaper than your current solution. Downside is only 250 concurrent connections, but we don't seem to have an issue with that so far. I looked at the media filters, but it wasn't something we felt we needed in the short term. For youtube and the like, we allow staff, but not students currently, so if there is something they want to show in class, they can..
