Yes, only certain keys will work with each addition, so if you have a Home Edition OEM CD Key, you won't be able to enter that successfully into a Business Edition install. It should tell you on the M$ sticker what version you require.

They claim that all products are 100% genuine, and with QuidCo offering 6.5% cash back on all sales with them it seems pretty safe to me.

8 days for Xmas here too. We get 2 weeks and 1 day off which obviously equates to 11 working days off. Take away the 3 bank holidays we are entitled to means it costs 8 days.

I'm off to do some handbrake turns in the estate........

Wow, a full inch. Thank goodness it didn't snow that extra inch otherwise it might have put our untouched roads to shame. Only had about 24 inches here, no biggie.

Left handedness is an illness, not a joke. Sicko!

Also, I think schools have 13 weeks per year off. 6 x summer, 2 x Xmas, 2 x winter, and 3 x half-terms. 52 - 13 = 39, but I thought people are still entitled to their 22 days holiday or whatever it is, which would mean you get paid for 43 weeks of the year. Could be wrong with that though, just how I understand it.

I make that a wage of about £17000 if it was full-time - not a bad wage at all for an IT tech in a school EDIT: By full time I mean 37 hour weeks non-term time.

That would be telling, and I don't fancy revealing anything from behind this mask I hide. Only kidding, I'm from Durham.

Another photo taken just this minute. One minute we have some sun, and then the next minute it turns so quickly into this. BTW: Bit of an optical illusion. Those specks of snow aren't stuck to the fence lol, it is actually snow flakes falling

If that's how you feel I wish you could take ours. Snow is good for nothing.

[closed] bug/error: Viewing from last viewed post
Hightower posted a topic in EduGeek.net Site Problems
There seems to be a problem when I click the 'view from last viewed post' link for a post I want to view. It obviously should take me to the next post after the post I last viewed, but instead it just goes to the start of the thread. I thought it might have been a problem with my work PC, but it's also doing this at home. I'm using FF v3.6.12 at home, and some v3.6.x at work. Haven't tested with any other browser because I'm lazy -
Yes, one of the greats. RIP sir, you are a legend

Some photo's for those that are interested. The table is a good indication of how much snow we've had - might be hard to make out but it's around 18" of snow. Back yard shows the snow going half way up the for sale sign.

We cleared our path yesterday as it's about 60 foot long so to make it easier to walk. Wake up this morning and it has another 6-8 inches on it. On the main paths which haven't been cleared we're up to 1 foot to 2 foot of snow in places. Main roads were clear yesterday but haven't been touched and are now covered, and I mean covered.

How to punish Proxy Bypassers?
Hightower replied to adamtate's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We have appropriate filtering in place (whitelisted), but any offenders have internet disabled. If they/the teacher comes and sees us they are politely told to see the head of year. Disciplining kids is above my pay scale - let the people who are paid to do it do it. -
My point was, when was the last time £5k could be exchanged to 9k euros

Cost of that car: £5,060 (approx. €9,374 or $8,330) All I can say is I now want one, what with it being a time travel device too.

Okay, okay. You're a man who likes facts, figures, and stats and the like. That has shown over the years. See if you can find me the percentages of grads who end up in 'high-tech' work - the kind of work that really NEEDS a degree. I reckon it'll be way less than 20%.

If we're on the subject of cars I'd love a Shelby: Shelby American Inc. And a new house. And a dog.

But your only argument is that education comes from universities. I learnt how to do my job, on the job, and I class my work as skilled. I'm sure a lot of the population of EduGeek came from similar backgrounds too. To be educated doesn't mean you need a bit of paper and loads of debt. To be educated means that you can carry out the tasks required in a competent manner.

really?! which uni? 1st class degree here I come baby, yeah!

I really hope I don't hold the same grudge against labour in a couple of decades from now. The conservatives are different people to last time they were in, as were labour. In 20 years they'll be different people again. I used to have long hair and a big nose. Still got the big nose, but my hair is trim now, which is proof that people do change.

Staff here do twilight sessions, and then the inset day they get off when it comes around. This offer is also extended to us, so we can work late on set nights and get the inset day off.
-
Because they are wasting all their money on educating people who don't want to be educated and are just looking for a 3-year party, of course! @buzzard - I whole heartedly agree. My missus has a 1st class degree, and knows her stuff in the subject at hand. But common sense - none! Not a single iota of the stuff mate. I'd be lost without her still
