Umm it doesnt seem to be working for me on a test win7 laptop using ie9. The wpad.dat appears to be ok as if i check 'Use automatic configuration script' and point it at the address on the zonedirector everything works fine?
-
So the file is then on the http://name or ip of zonedirector/uploaded/wpad.dat what do you then need to add to DNS and DHCP for it to automatically detect the settings bareing in mind that the wpad.dat isnt saved at teh root of the zonedirector?

Ruckus discontinues the ZD1000 controller
Tallwood_6 replied to localzuk's topic in Wireless Networks
With the release of 9.3 I notice that from the release notes this will be the last supported version for the ZD 1000. I'm a little disappointed to say the least, what am I now paying support for other than hardware replacement? -
As others have said this is nothing new RM are simply battening down the hatches as the along with the death of BSF they know full well that school budgets are getting tighter and i think a refocus on core business will benefit all. Despite my grievances with RM i wouldnt wish job loses on anyone in this current climate.

Yes CC3 and CC4 can deploy .exe's there is an article on the support site the lists the command arguements.
-
Well printer credits for CC4.3 is under field trial currently by the looks of it so you may be able to get in on this if you dont want to wait. RM Connector it seems they have no timescales for if or when this will be available on CC4.3. CC3 - CC4.3 software compatibility
-
The list of things which won't be ported over from cc3 or cc4.2 as well as add ons under development is listed on the support website and is talked about on the RM communities website. Although this clearly hasn't been communicated by your account manager it would have been prudent to do some checks yourself. At any stage did you ask if all of your current cc3 options would be available on cc4.3?

As John says a scheduled stop and start of the services in the early hours has always been recommended.

I dont think Ruckus can offer than kind of QoS, i know download and upload data rates can be set per client per SSID. You can allow/ deny traffic per SSID down to application layer and you can set basic high of low traffic priority on each SSID.

We have it setup so the zonedirector notifies us when it detects a rougue device and if you setup the map view it will try and show you where the device is positioned. It gives you information such as MAC Address, Channel Radio Type, Encryption, SSID, and Last Detected Date as well.

Used hp unmanaged, Aruba and now have ruckus which is excellent. Nothing wrong with Aruba but got much better coverage with ruckus in testing. The zoneflex 7363 AP's are really good but I'd probably want one of the new 1100 zonedirectors.

ESX Hosts Memory Upgrade
Tallwood_6 replied to Tallwood_6's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
I assumed ESX would just see it but wasnt sure for certain and there is nothing i could find on the vmware knowledge base that confirmed by assumption so i thought i should check. I've already got the memory and made sure its the same HP branded stuff and checked the to see what the DIMM slot configuration should be. -
If i put some more RAM in our ESX4 host servers (DL360 G6) should ESX and vCenter see the extra automatically on boot?

Ruckus discontinues the ZD1000 controller
Tallwood_6 replied to localzuk's topic in Wireless Networks
The ZD1000 can licence up to 50 AP's and i understand they are simply discontinuing sales of the hardware as the ZD1000 doesnt support the new Ruckus Wall wired/ wirless switches. -
HP Procurve 10GB Network Backbone Switching
Tallwood_6 replied to SHimmer45's topic in Wired Networks
The distance om3 fibre will support 10 gig over is somewhat shorter, and it's far less forgiving of poorly spliced & terminated fibres from what I've heard. -
HP Procurve 10GB Network Backbone Switching
Tallwood_6 replied to SHimmer45's topic in Wired Networks
School down the road spent tens of thousands on procurve 5412zl for each building with the various modules and transceivers only to find the fibre they had in place wasn't really up to the task so had to switch back to Gig uplinks so I'd check this first. 10 gig base-t looks promising but switches with these type or ports seem to be few and far between. -
The trouble is senior management see wireless working for surfing the web at home and they simply do not understand the issues in scaling this up in a school or business. Builders will love it as they won't have to run nearly as much cable reducing costs and hassle and will know doubt market it as better solution, the next big thing etc. I'd make clear the potential pitfalls it written form now that way when it hits the fan you have some come back. Not to say it couldn't work!

CC4 Database, Can you rebuild it
Tallwood_6 replied to Paul_Warner's topic in Network and Classroom Management
If your calling them just get them to remote on and fix it, what do you hope to achieve yourself which they could not accomplish? -
CC4 Database, Can you rebuild it
Tallwood_6 replied to Paul_Warner's topic in Network and Classroom Management
There is no tec article you need to phone RM support and get them to sort it! -
As you say to many fingers in to many pie's. -CC3 customers are now going vanilla or looking elsewhere for managment options -CC4 has blackened is name so badly that many wont touch it and development moves at a snails pace -Resources have been poured into products like AppAngel (never released) RM Learning Platform (dont know of anyone using this) CC4 Anywhere (Costs far to much for many schools) -Apart from prehaps the RM Mobile One & RM One the desktop and laptop line up are a bit of a joke -RM Slate, nice idea shame about Windows 7 -RM Servers... why? -EMC SANs not conviced with this choice.

Is anyone else that is using the new Calendars within Frog having as many issues as us. I.e. extremely slow loading and moving between dates, cant share with groups of users, events overlapping, difficulty printing etc Many of these issues have been flagged as bugs but some some issues such as the speed issue seem to be getting strugged off with support suggesting that we are the only ones that are having these issues?

CC4 Database, Can you rebuild it
Tallwood_6 replied to Paul_Warner's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Dont attempt to do anything yourself if the slow down is a result of your database growing quite large then RM will do a clearup for you usually overnight. See tech article TEC1374694 -
I'm finding the ACL implementation buggy and slow applying permissions but you get what you pay for. Proxy support would be welcome just so the built in clamav could update as well.
