Probably the same person who designed the 4310s and 4510s Probook laptops, 12 screws to replace a keyboard, 14 to get to the HDD, and dont get me started if you replace their "high quality" PSU cable (at least it isn't on the mono) or the the LCD panel. just saw this for incorrect date format in Nova/Options, may work Change the Workstation setting to say 'English (Canada)' and Save. Then change it back to 'English (United Kingdom)' and save. It may be necessary to do this on the Server rather than just the workstation. same as above pretty much

I can agree there, the evolution happens, I was a Standard ICT Technician here for about 4 months, then I was Specialising in SIMS updates for another 3 after that, then I was no longer a technician and was SIMS and Timetable Co-ordinator, when I wrote my first timetable and dealt with the data in SIMS. Then we moved into our new BSF build and we has the ICT contract moved from dealing with the LEP to dealing direct with us and I became Technical Logistics Leader and have all the purchasing and planning of ICT as well as our VLE, all ICT Services, Still Timetabling, Still doing Census, Still analysis data, Still running SIMS updates (looking into SOLUS 3 to deploy discover) and manage the ICT contract and guys. We all pick things up, its just funny how things change.

@vikpaw do use the Replace button on your marksheets at all, Its great if you have a result set for each term, makes the process much quicker on the template side.

Part of my Job is Data Managing (other part is to Line Manage the ICT Dept like a NM and the other is Timetabling, for my sins) I am always happy to help, just drop me a PM. I agree with a lot of people, a good data cleanse would be great. Got part of the way there by "z"ing old aspects and setting up the Result Sets (makes such a difference) i have also overseen the removal of End of Year Reports being written in comments with Assessment Manager and into Profiles where they belong. All i would say is watch out for old Grade Sets, they will be a pain if you are using formulas, but I have done some pretty crazy things with Assessment Manager and the very little of Performance Analysis I have used, even got a Sub Levels of Process thing done for KS3 which does the breakdown by class (did take a while to setup and more to maintain) and got distance from targets for KS4 in a breakdown by class. I would recommend getting onto a Assessment Manager course as I have seen nightmares in other schools out there, where every aspect has its own result set etc etc. and I really want to get onto a Performance Analysis course to learn how to use it properly. Also try and make use of Discover and teach your SLT how to use it, they will find it great to find out data breakdowns visually, /2penceworth

Or there is the option to print the class cover sheet when cover is published in SIMS, this prints out a paper register with class photos, we use that quite a bit for one day only people

I do something similar to Rawns, but we have a supply teacher as supply teacher in "Manage Classroom Staff" (your timetabler/personnel officer/cover supervisor should be able to help you there) and linked the account to that, it then shows up the cover entries from Cover 7. When they leave (usually at the end of the day) we reset the password.

Thank you Chris_Cook. I was thinking about not using the mixing desk and just using a D Snake at both end. Allowing us to use our traditional mixing desk and keeping the current multicore but using it to extend (I know it may diminish the quality) to our current location. I would love to keep it analogue all the way through. But I am finding it hard to find a supplier to do what we would want (a large din type plug to be kept locked up and break out cables for when we want to connect it to the desk) I do like our current desk but cannot remember the make/model from ontop of my head

Hello all, we are currently looking into relocating our multicore for our main soundsystem (building is only 3 years old but multicore is just int he wrong place) I was thinking instead of paying for another multicore to the ground level from the current first floor location or getting 2 of these Behringer: DIGITAL SNAKE S16 and getting CAT6 run between the 2 sites, or even using it with a brand new X32 mixer. The problem is I have has very little experience in Digital Snakes and was wondering if anyone has had any experience. Or should i still be looking at getting a detachable wall mounted multicore for the new high traffic area where we would like it to be. all suggestions and opinions welcome, but I cannot go for fibre and break the bank on this one if i want a nice shiny new £5k server

I can do this, there is a section called Conduct, which does the Total Behaviour, Total Achievement and Then Total conduct (achievement - behaviour) If you want an export give me a shout, but I think it is their entire school life not by year. I could probably do Behaviour Incidents and Achievement Incidents (not points) filtered and use a custom excel layout to do the rest, but I have never tried that before

I used to live and die by Dell, never had an issue with them, but the last batch of laptops I got were the HP Probook 4340s and OMG they are sooooo much better than the previous probook 4310s that we got under the BSF procurement, it is worth getting them in, as the Lenovo ThinkPads (the old IBM black ones) although expensive, are built like a nokia 3310 phone and just keep on going, i didn't go with them because of 2 reasons, 1 - they look ugly (trust me looks are important) and 2- they had the annoying textured track pads. I would say get the companies out, and always go for quotes, as prices dramatically drop when you do

We had a slow login issue when we first went to windows 7, we had to get a windows hotfix which is only available on request from KB2525332, you might want to see if that has any positive effects.

Hello All, I am going crazy with google here, when we moved into our new building (just over 2 years ago) we got a V-Flash Desktop Modeller 3d printer, I do not have any records of where it was sourced from, as it was part of the baseline parts for the school. It has now come to light that we need a new cartridge for it, but I cannot seem to find a supplier on the internet for it, does anyone out there know of a UK supplier for these 3D Printing Material Cartridges for it, and I know they will cost around £600 from what I was told. Dell for Desktops here, mixture of Dells and HPs for laptops, HP laptops have improved greatly in build quality of the last year, but prefer Dells for Staff. out admin staff have just been upgraded to the Optiplex 9010 AIO machines with standard wired keyboards and wireless mice (non touch screen version) and they love them. The core I5 processor with the 4 gb of RAM makes working a dream, and the desk space reclaimed is great. Other desktops are the Optiplex 790s with the AIO screen stands, which are great for students use and great for DT with their deperate 512mb graphics cards to take the load of some of the CAD CAM (solidworks and 2d design) Personally I like to stick with the tier 1 manufacturers and get them competing, as then you can get a good price for some really good machines.

What about streemining Radio 1 on BBC Iplayer, I am not to sure of the T&Cs but where it is a public broadcast that is being played over your sound system. Just an Idea

Hello All, I am doing some regular maintenance work to our website, of which we add a banner now and again to advertise events, and I thought, there must be a better way to do this. What I would like to do is be able to use a plugin/module etc etc to show an article in a popup, the only free one I have found which does it (I can't remember the name because I uninstalled it) messed up the article layout screen. The only other thing I can think of to make it work nicely is if you can set a picture to be a % of the screen/article layout section, as everything else resizes except the banners, which makes the whole process quite annoying. Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you all in advance

I recently got an optiplex 9010 all-in-one without the touch screen interface for our heads PA, as her PC was approaching 5 years old, it is a great and solid bit of kit, even to the point where I am looking at 18 more for replacing all our staff PCs OptiPlex 9010 All-in-One Desktop | Dell UK

Can you give me any more information, is this to do with result sets, or the actual date of the results, as there are many ways of using assessment manager (I remember the 2 day course so well) but I do this for my school, and we do not have to manually do this. Please dont post any confidential info, If better PM me :-)

I had this before and I had to manually go through on the internet settings and remove all prompts and have it as allow, it is a pain, but it will work, eventually.

We did have that Witch, but with the fact that every member of staff has their own laptop as their one and only device (except admin who have PCs) the logon times (although every only so slightly quicker in the long run) and lack of "Roaming Profile has loaded incorrectly" messages makes our life that little bit better.
