Wow Steven, that sounds great, I wished I had the time (and most of the skill) necessary to do what you have done, at the moment, we have 2 members of the SLT that seem to love using excel a little bit too much, so I am looking for a package to help them out, discover doesn't do what we do, but some of the progress grids in SIMS (which I have recently discovered) has taken a large chunk out, but still think a good bit of software to do most, if not all, of it would be worth it's weight in gold, would love to see your solution sometime and get inspiration for our own

seems to be something to do with ggpht.com and its sub-domains, all coming up as file hosting but not to sure whether to unblock it or not, does anyone know what else is held on their google servers?

Hello All, I know this is a filtering issue as this works for me, When a user (staff or students) goes onto the Google Cultural Institute, no images appear at all and you cannot load any. and I have yet to find a detailed report in Lightspeed to trackdown the rogue URL(s) Has anyone else experienced this? and if so how did you get around it?

Thank you all, I didn't find it that offensive, it is an image of a t-shirt with a sheep looking over it's shoulder and the words "#1 Sheep Sh**ger" (without the stars) the teachers himself isn't too worried, this pressure is coming from the deputy head to find out who it is.

There are various solutions for this, we can achieve this with safecom (which we use for pull printing) which you can purchase a module which allows you to email and then go pick it up by the card. But I have never had a problem with shared printers. We have 2 printer queues on our server, one for mono and one for colour. Also 35 printers seems a bit excessive. Although we are at the other extreme. With just under 1000 students and around 170 staff we have 8 pull print enables MFPs and 5 admin/SLT office printers.

Hello All, We have had an incident here, where a student has made a hotmail.com account (and yes it is hotmail.com on the email address, weird) and sent an email with an image to a member of staff, which is offensive. The issue is the email was sent at around 9pm at night, so I have not been able to do a trace here on our Filtering system. I have emailed the outlook.com abuse account but have only received an automated email back. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to try and find out whose this email account is. They have not used their school account as a separate account so that doesn't help to track them. Thank you all in advance,

We have bromcom's MyChildAtSchool for parents access and for teachers we purchased Teachers WebFolder (both of which can be brought separately) I found MCAS to be a much more polished off product and cheaper, the TWF was just an extra thing we brought later on so that teachers did not have to use VPN to access SIMS at home. As you are in kent as well @WGSGClive we know it will work without an issue (you just get a public IP for the server that is going to run the bromcom link from the School's Broadband team) I am in North West Kent, so if you want to come and have a look with me, drop me a PM and I can show you, I also have a powerpoint somewhere (from about 2/3 years ago) comparing the 2.

I was thinking maybe using moodle, just not too sure how to set it up (I love the editor too) All I have done with moodle so far is install it, got the SSL cert and published it externally, themed it and got LDAP working, I haven't even made a course yet (I think that is the correct term in moodle) I need to continue reading my book on it, and getting it working nicely.

Hello all, I have this crazy idea, we have the situation here where a few people get asked lots and lots of questions about how certain processes work and where to find information (we have a shared drive for this, but it is still a bit tricky) so I have come up with the idea of running our own wiki. I am now hitting the stumbling block about which wiki platform would be the easiest for staff to not only use, but to put the information in with minimal training. I have installed mediawiki as a place to start, but I find the editing interface is a bit minimal for our staff and they cannot attach a file (if needed) within its editor. I have a windows server with MySQL and PHP on which is currently being setup for moodle, so I can utilise that for running it, but I really need a platform which is nice to create pages collaboratively and add files too, and has a nice WYSIWYG editor. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
