We are having this issue when creating the new academic year, the issue can be replicated on our sims DB offsite by our support company so it's been sent over to Capita for a fix.

It does sound like it's dropped off the domain, have you checked the logs on the DC to see if it show's any errors relating to this workstation(s)?

Check logs to see if startup repair is launching and causing it to drop off the domain, if so and a rejoin doesn't work possible issue with the image? Check DNS Check windows firewall/AV Do the clients stop receiving DHCP assigned addresses?

HP Support will assist in a firmware upgrade if you feel more comfortable with them doing it, just make sure you have backups of the config (They will do this for you) and yes schedule for out of hours.

Sounds a possible cause, power the server down and see if you can still ping the IP, I have had similar symptoms in the past.

After a reboot are pings back to normal? Pings from the server to other hosts normal or still high? Can you manually hit the network shares that the drives map to? Are these DFS shares?

What about securing Pars.net with IIS? Client Certificate Mapping Authentication?

We suffered huge slow downs but after the Summer upgrade in Purchase Ordering, after many (And I mean many) calls to Capita they pointed out that we had a huge amount of linked cost centers and ledger codes - Finance are working through un-linking them so I'm yet to know if this is the actual issue but it does sound a likely culprit. Maybe worth a look?

We use virtual print queues which redirect to a few a different Toshiba devices, 2505, 3505 and 7506's , all was fine before we upgraded all the printers and hence updating the driver from Toshiba Universal to Toshiba Universal 2 (v 7.176.3851.6), we have been using a powershell script which does the same as the MS Fixit to reset the Print Spooler and it seems to fix them but whether it happens again in the future only time will tell.

As I understand it no you wouldn't need to alter the commands, there stored procedures you are calling. If you are running the command in management studio just make sure you right click the db you want to run it against and choose new query. Perhaps someone else could clarify my thinking is correct?

No need if you run the SQL Script Jinnantonnixx posted, this will fix up your logins without having to reattach.

Did you restore the DB using dbattach or just using management studio? I'm fairly confident to keep logins intact you must use dbattach.

I think there stored in the DB, you can run the report in sims Focus > Students > Photographs . If you need just the images then once exported save as in word to webpage to get all the images in a single folder.

There's no legal obligation to monitor like this is there? Force everyone to save to drive, you then can make use of Google Vault if need be.
