  1. Yeah that's where i got up to, after some further reading it seems the TPM owner password is only ever required when you don't have physical access. Microsoft Info
  2. Hi all, I started to look into rolling out Bitlocker but I now see you need to setup MBAM to save the TPM Owner Password, am i right in thinking that I now need to setup MBAM to do this properly? Or am i misunderstanding this requirement for the TPM owner password?
  3. Excellent - just as i'd hoped! Thanks both
  4. We did, for whatever reason our Toshiba PCL drivers stopped working with Cloud print, papercut recommended trying the XPS drivers and voila it worked no problem. What i ended up doing was setting up another virtual print queue just for cloud print using the XPS drivers, I was told back in October Toshiba and Papercut were working on it but not heard anything back since (or chased it to be fair). Hope this helps.
  5. Hi, Just after a bit of advice/recommendations, when i next get some free time i'm going to replace our current DC's with clean build 2016 servers, ideally i'd like to reuse the same IP for the DNS servers. Is this really bad practice? Am i best just using new IP's and fixing up everything point to the old DNS servers? Thanks, Simon
  6. I seem to be in the minority but we've been with Smoothwall for years and really like the product, not had much need for support so from what i am reading that is where they fall down, if that is a case it's a shame as the product is great.
  7. Have you checked if the tmp volume is full? I had an issue with a log file called mili2d.log filling my tmp up, clearing this fixed it short term, it's a broadcom nic issue i believe. vdf -h (Shows free space on virtual disks) ls -la /tmp will show you the content of the directory. >mili2d.log (Clear log)
  8. Could possibly be an offline files issue, try disabling and see if issue persists.
  9. Well I accidentally set our Sims to deploy Friday night, seems to be about as successful as normal, the machines which picked up the reg change from policy show as Updating successfully in Solus, the ones which hadn't look as if they have received the update fine but show as deployment timed out in Solus, when checking target version for said client it reports the correct Sims version.
  10. We are very similar, if i can get the bulk of them updated and hope Sophos can get an update out we should be ok. I do get the feeling the dates from Sophos might just keep dropping back , mid Jan next time you ask them no doubt!
  11. I've decided to roll the update out anyway , i don't have a huge amount of confidence the fix will come quick enough. GPP to disable hitman, deploy sims, re-enable hitman is the plan - we have lots of clients amongst a few sites so i hope it works!
  12. Should be able to do his using File Server Resource Manager (FSRM), just need to create a keyword list of offensive words and setup a file screen to just report.
  13. I was assured by our Sims support company that it's been deploying fine for Sophos users, I didn't believe it at the time and this has pretty much confirmed what i knew! I'm tempted to delay for a week in the hope we get the Sophos update in the meantime.
  14. Check allowed content ratings under your restrictions profile, for example Google Chrome is listed as only being suitable for 17+ and if you have an age restriction listed for apps it will install fine but will not be visible.
  15. Anyone tried VPass: Pricing (UK) | VPass ?
  16. Sounds more likely that the network connection for whatever reason has changed to Public on the machine, the firewall rules will only apply to domain.
  17. Hi, we are having an issue here with Sage where we can't specify who each order gets delivered to? So at the moment since moving over the finance team are having to direct deliveries manually, they have spoke to the helpline but were told it's not possible yet which i really can't believe. Any one able to offer any insight? Any help hugely appreciated (On behalf of the finance team) Thanks, Simon
  18. Hi, we use Sage 200 and i had to put quite a few url's in do not authenticate on Smoothwall for it to play nicely. I just looked at the IP of the workstation on the realtime logs and looked out for 407's.
  19. Hi all, Has anyone else noticed an issue with Google Cloud print? It just prints as a blank page. If printing a PDF from Google Drive it seems to work fine, but printing directly from Google docs, slides, Chrome now seems to print blanks. We use Papercut but nothing has changed at our end and papercut looks to be doing it's bit fine. Thanks, Simon
  20. Hi all, We've been offered some Viewsonic 65" touchscreens at a very good price, sub £1500, has anyone had any experience with them? I'm not sure whether to pay the extra £500 and go for Clevertouch, would cost £4k more in total so the saving would be a good amount. Thanks, Simon
  21. Also check the tmp directory isn't full. I had an offending driver that would fill the tmp directory with a log file.
  22. Correct yes.
  23. The fix for ours was to set the log file to unlimited growth while we did the new academic year.
  24. I had a similar issue on mine and it turned out I just need to to tidy up my updates, I can only think when a client checks in it was taking too long going through all the approved updates, I had Windows XP updates still in there! https://community.spiceworks.com/scripts/show/2998-adamj-clean-wsus As soon as I cleaned it up all clients reported back perfectly !
  25. I use double driver to extract driver files if you have one preinstalled, works a treat.
