  1. Thanks we are going to try 1709 on a few test machines and see if that makes a difference
  2. I have logged a ticket with Capita to see if they can shed any light.. not sure how helpful they will be but I know they use remote app SIMS
  3. Thanks, we stripped out all the apps from the WIM but didn't edit any profiles. I will give that a go see if we can make any improvements and will try 1709. LTSB keeps getting suggested but I am loathed to switch to this model
  4. The logon times and boot up is a massive problem for us. Sometimes we can have users logged on in 2 mins, sometimes it takes 5+ minutes. We are using group policy preference printers but this works well for us, we are prestaging the drivers onto the machines so the process is pretty quick. Only problem currently is with default printer not setting until the second logon, seems to be a bit of a known issue. Been doing some testing and turning off the always wait for the network at boot up GPO seems to help take 2 minutes off boot up times but obviously could see issues with GPO change if we turn this off..
  5. Hi, Yes Windows 10 much slower on the initial first profile load. We didn't have this problem with Windows 7. Fully Windows 10 now. We have the Verbose messaging enabled, the problem is not GPO related. We speed through that and end up at Preparing Windows which is apparently something to do with the user profile / app creation part of the first logon. Looking at moving back to roaming profiles. We moved away when using 1511 due to issues, but it seems to take a minute off the login times. The first login is 30 seconds using roaming profiles.
  6. We only have Photos app and Camera provisioned everything else has been stripped out
  7. We are having the issue on both wired and wireless. Don't use imepro, and have all those GPOs turned on. Using local profiles as using mandatory seemed to make it worse.. every login would be 2-3 mins rather than first and then 15 seconds on the second logon. Don't use Impero here, we have LanSchool
  8. Hello, Just curious as to whether anybody has managed to get the first logon time down to under a minute? We have a variety of SSD / HDD machines and are getting complaints about slow logins. Upon testing this seems to be only the first logon, the second logon's are around 10 seconds or under, which is great but not so great as most of our logins will be first time ones! We are looking at between 2-3 minutes for the first time logon currently. We are running 1703 with all the apps removed, the exception being photos and calculator. It seems our GPOs are processed within 30 seconds, the remainder is the "preparing windows". Any ideas what else we could try?
  9. Hello We are having issues with Outlook clients not always reading items. By this I mean a user can read an item on PC1 and then when they move to PC2 and open Outlook it's sitll unread. We are using Online Outlook mode, rather than cached exchange. I have tried Microsoft support and not got anywhere with them. Has anybody had something similar
  10. We don't use SSO so perhaps that could be it. We get the dialog box to login and then the splash screen OK. It's just the SIMS home / dashboard that doesn't seem to work it goes all white. We aren't using any DPI in Windows, and are running Windows 10 1703. Currently testing on a physical machine that we are intending to use remote app with. Just using the onboard graphics on the host. Have tried it on VMWare hypervisor previously and had the same issues
  11. Chris, I managed to get it to work for us - pass the argument to the remote app when configuring the deployment. However, we are still having issues. The screen is showing all white and dragging around the top bar works fine. Curious as to why this is happening! Do you require users to logon to SIMS or have it use SSO? Trying to work out what it could be. Thanks
  12. Thanks for this we will try and see if it solves it for us much appreciated
  13. We saw the issue in 2012 R2 as well so it's not a Server 16 problem. There must be a resolution as Capita are really pushing their hosted SIMS / FMS and that uses Microsoft Remote Desktop on 2012 R2 hosts
  14. Yes we have this issue never got to the bottom of it. Upon testing it did appear to be most prevalent on high resolution displays. I contacted capita who offered no help whatsoever! Would be interested to know if anyone else has coke across this or solved it.
  15. Hello, I have read a few threads over the last couple of years, and experimented with our Office 365 / Outlook 2016 settings regarding the download of email. We have tried both Cached Exchange Mode, and Online mode with various combinations of local and roaming profiles. We are currently using the default "Cached Exchange" mode, and we seem to have got rid of most of the headaches we were having. We have had to leave it stored on the default local drive, as when we tried using the GPO to redirect the OST to a network drive, but unfortunately we ended up with 20-30 duplicate files. Even with data de-dup turned on our file server, it started eating up all the data drives. My question is whether anyone has managed to get it successfully redirecting to a network drive, or found a way to encrypt the data? We are considering options as are concerned about personal data being left on the machines. Our laptops are already encrypted, but we have been asked a question about data security on the physical desktop PCs. Want to try and avoid bitlockering them if possible. Thank you
  16. We were having this issue on 1703 and we noticed that disabling the smart board service fixed the mouse / touch respond again. Obviously this broke the pens Updating to the latest drivers available from smart board website has fixed this problem for us. We are still using Notebook 11.4 working fine so far. we had issues with dot net 4.7 but only on windows 7 clients so far.
  17. Hello We had loads of issues with BGInfo running on Win10 clients - in the end we have used our SCCM to robocopy the BGInfo, wallpaper and config files to the machines when we image them and put a shortcut in the Windows machine run folder so it runs on logon. We use group policy files to copy over updated backgrounds and target staff/students/ad site for our MAT. Seems to be working well. Had problems originally with using BGInfo and the wallpaper on a network share on Win10 clients.
  18. Hello, I have imported the photo viewer and it shows up in open with, but even with our XML for custom app associations the program will not set to the default open. Any ideas? Our XML is below:
  19. This was the issue for us as well, spent weeks trying to work it out and sophos support were useless.
  20. Thanks guys, I have tried setting them to delayed startup and that seems to be OK on the Azure AD sync client. Just find it a bit perculiar that some of these servers have been running for years and rebooting services fine until recently. Was wondering if it was due to a dodgey update as there have been a few recently, or if anyone else with sophos was seeing this as that's the only things we have changed. Don't see how it could be a switch issue as it's happening across multiple sites with completely different infrastructure but thanks.
  21. Hi guys Just wondering if anyone else is noticing strange behaviour with services not starting automatically. We have a number of different VMS running 2012 r2 and 2016, and for the last few months we have noticed that when they are rebooted some automatic startup services don't start. This is affecting things like Azure AD sync and parts of remote app services. Once we go into services and start them manually everything runs fine. Wondering if it's a common issue and down to a windows update as hasn't happened to us before? Only other thing I can think is Sophos Central causing an issue. Thanks Joel
  22. i could never get UEV settings to work from the network either with the GPOset, although didn't try too hard. I have a power shell script that runs to add the UEV default templates that are missing in 1607 and then adds my custom templates in as well. I have one for Google Chrome deployed and is working well. Joel
  23. Hello all, We are having an issue with our Sophos AV and have contacted Sophos support about it. Long story short, it seems our Windows 10 1607 x64 Education is showing up as the Insider Preview version. Has anyone seen this before - I remember when we first deployed Win10 through MDT it was showing up as Insider for some reason but this was 2 years ago and the machines have been reimaged since. Sophos are saying they won't support us as the Insider preview isn't a supported OS, we are definitely running the 1607 edition downloaded from VLSC.... Thanks in advance
  24. Just to say we had the odd few student home folders disappearing sporatically over the last academic year. Never got to the bottom of it and as it was only the odd few users here and there it's at the bottom of our to do list. From reading this I think we had moved the redirection share path but it was pointing to the same location. Thanks for saving us time!
  25. Thanks, we use a Sophos UTM and it doesn't support this way of blocking videos. We have tried it in the past with help from our support provider and it seems its an allow or block for us when it comes to YouTube. We can put specific URLs to allow in, but the streaming video comes from another domain that is blocked. If we unblock it then the whole of YouTube is visible! Thanks guys, maybe it's just not ready for us to use as yet.
