Thanks, What AP`s are you using?

I would get rid of Meru tomorrow to be honest, and our latest annual support and warranty is due at the end of August so now is the time to decide. I`ve never liked Meru (just my personal opinion), I came from a ruckus setup in my last school which was great. I hate the Meru GUI, whilst the support is quick we find it very difficult to deal with the support engineers. (to the extent where we ask them to communicate over email rather than phone call!) Thank you for your views im going to look in to a number of option in the next week or so. Is it possible to get hold of a Unifi AP to trial?
-
Thats what im looking for! So with Unifi you have a VM as the controller right? Can anyone share any rough costs for License and AP`s?
-
Im in the same boat, we have Fortinet (installed around 2012) and its costing us around £2500 per year for maintenance. Its due an upgrade but I would have to put a strong case to the business manager to get it replaced. What are the annual costs for Unifi?

Had two of these recently, am i correct in thinking this is due to hotmail.co.uk addresses are no more? and now there live.com\outlook.com? (user) is not authorized to relay messages through the Office 365 email servers for hotmail.co.uk.

Needing to upgrade the memory on one of our servers, I`ve got quotes for both Original and Matched memory, is it worth the risk to stick none original in there, apparently its tested to the same levels?

Just currently setting up my Synology, I have rouhly around 20tb to play with, Do you have to use the entire volume for the ISCSI Lun volume? or could I use some of the space for a Network share? Its Just i probably dont need all that space for my Datastore(s)

[sims] Sticking with physical Sims setup or move to Virtual?
maxrebo replied to maxrebo's topic in MIS Systems
Yeah thats the part that worries me with having it as a VM. I would first like to understand with these snapshots fail to merge. -

Yes that makes alot of sense -
[sims] Sticking with physical Sims setup or move to Virtual?
maxrebo replied to maxrebo's topic in MIS Systems
Yes dont i know it, we had our veeam backups replicating after nightly backup and for some reason it wasnt removing the snapshots, kept building up and then corrupting the VM. -

If im honest, i dont actually get snapshots, i know what they are but when are you supposed to use them? I have a veeam setup so if a VM went corrupt i would just restore from previous night Anyone care to explain how to use them in my setup? -
Our Sims server is due a upgrade this summer from Windows 2k8r2 to 2012r2, i was going to get our LA to do a clean instLl on the current physical box im thinking more and more about virtualising it Can anyone suggest any reason why its a bad idea the VM this? Ive read on here that lots of people have done it and had no problems

thanks for the info, currently this will be attached to one our 2 core switches, will that be sufficient?

Ok, so I now hve my Synology as discussed above, I plan to set up an iscsi lun target and add this to my Vmware hosts as a datastore... First question, I currently have three hosts serving my VM`s ATM on local storage, can you mount this target on all three hosts? (So i can move some of these VM`s from local storage to the Synology box

Console for managing Server Event viewer events\logs?
maxrebo posted a topic in How do you do....it?
I would like to manage all server event logs from one location, whats the best way of doing this?, tend to recall you could do this Server 2008? -
I haven't capped it yet to be honest, I think were going to get our LA to upgrade our OS to Windows 2012 over the summer, cap it then and hopefully that should do the trick

Corrupt VM`s - What happening!
maxrebo replied to maxrebo's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
I`ve disabled the replication jobs for the time being (friday) and will run with this this week to see if its that, (None over the weekend, so far so good!) I can then be sure its the replication that`s causing the error and then take this up with VMware\Veeam. -

Yes upon further investigation It was a replication job that caused the issue, I have disabled the replication jobs whilst I look into it -

Veeam config - backup console and proxy all on same server. The Veeam error says "VM disk consolidation failure" - The failed VM yesterday seemed to happen within seconds of the scheduled replication Job starting. The backup of this VM was a 5pm and ran successfully I try to set them all up so theres no concurrent jobs running, maybe 2 at most but usually one starts after the other is complete. -

I think Veeam creates a snapshot whilst doing the backup process, AFAIK -

Yes all Dell servers, one of which is several months old so I`d presume it would be disabled for that one -
So yesterday was a bad day! Got in to find the Primary DC down and further more corrupt (.vmdk.), snapshot consolidation needed blah blah.. Consolidating the snapshots manually didn't work and had to restore from backup, eventually got all working. More of a worry is that over the last weeks\months we have had probably 5/6 of our VM`s become corrupt. Our setup : 3 Hosts running 15 VM`s all using local storage Backups using Veeam and then replicating to a DR vCentre The corrupt VM`s all happen over night in and around when the backups occur, it doesn't happen every night, pretty much a lottery on which on and when! The only thing I can put it down to is two of the hosts are low on disk space (Datastore) 200/300gb remaining, but this also occurs on the host which has plenty of DS remaining (500gb) Any advice would be beneficial.

Thanks. Any recommendeation of what to cap it at? 96gb of RAM currently on server
