Just wondering what peoples procedures for allowing trainees and guest devices on to your network? We had a trainee teacher this morning asking to join our WiFi, her laptop AV was out of date and it got me thinking if i should allow it on? Whats everyone's view on this?. Bare in mind in my last school it was determined that it was a trainee teacher that brought in the Conficker virus and infected our entire network! We currently dont have our Wifi VLAN`d so its a flat network.

We recently setup a mail flow to block zip files coming in, cue the support calls saying external user cant email staff member due to mail flow rule, My thinking was due to the amount of viruses in Zip file attachment it will be another security hole plugged?!. I`m just wondering how many people do this and if its necessary? Thanks

Thanks everyone for your views, I agree it has to be something that I`m interested in, I think that`s going to be the Office 365 route as previously mentioned, I really want to gain more knowledge in that field, and I administer our Office 365 Tenanvy on a daily basis. @mikkydoos I`d rather not go down the Cisco route, I`ve done a few of the CCNA modules and I didn't really enjoy it, plus I`d rather do something that I use on a Daily basis in my job.

We have a bit of money in the pot for CPD, i`m looking at possibly studying and sitting a Microsoft Exam, What would be the best one currently to go for at this time? Would it be best to stick with the Server exams or look at cloud based exams such as Office 365 or Azure? We use Windows Server 2016 and Office 365 currently

Hi, Just wondering if anyone can recommend labels for the Inventry label printer? Were currently buying our at around £27 per roll, costing us a fortune, wondering if any third party ones are ok to use anyone can recommend?

No PP is fine but you cant attach documents in PP, a third party needs consent from parents for them to take photos and it requires a separate form. Just wondering if anyone has any clever ways of getting parental consent other than printing a form out and sending home with student

I`m trying to cut the amount of printing and also find a better way of how consent forms are handled. Currently any consent forms are either acknowledged in Parent Pay or are printed off and sent home with pupils for parents to sign and return, which often don`t make it home. Does anyone have feedback on hosting the forms online and asking parents to print off and sign?, I imagine asking\getting parents to print off forms would be difficult. It would be interesting to see how other schools do it. Thanks

thanks yes ive just found it On another note - how do you go about hiding teachers names and email addresses? I guess this is pulled from AD/Office 365 so it would mean changing in there? or is there another way in Teams where you can do an alias?

I need to hide the "Chat" tab on the menu on the left - could someone tell me which policy it comes under (ive disabled it in the "Messaging Policy" but it still shows. As it stands they can message all staff, which wouldn't go down well!

Hi, I`m just rolling out PP, was wondering what others do with school trips, do you just put on trips that require payment from parents (i.e Trip to Paris) or is it best to put all trips on PP? I know its probably personal preference in the end i suppose thanks

Sorry to hijack the thread but is it possible to replicate to onedrive instead of actuially moving files, so to have files in a local share which then replicates to Onedrive?

The students latest trick is to change the Language on the Ipads - Changing it back isn't an issue but time consuming and a disruption to the next person using it. We use Lightspeed MDM and AFAIK you cant disable\manage this? I`m wondering if there is any kind of software to monitor who`s using the iPad, such as a unique username they have to input so we can track who last used the device. Asking the staff to log the iPad in and out has proved not very successful! Thanks

Hi, We need to update our Net2 Lite Server install from v4 to v6, as we don`t have any direct support for this from Net2 we`re tasked with doing it ourselves, has anyone done this recently?, is it possible to upgrade direct to v6 from v4? any issues encountered? Thanks

Yeah I`ve tried that, disabling them and then trying Enable but it doesn't seem to apply whatever way.
