We have recently become a multi academy trust and I am looking at the cost of reducing the cost of printing down across the 2 sites that I manage. I'm looking at consolidating the type of printer we have and the huge range of different toner cartridges needed for all the different models. I am inclined towards a Follow Me/You Print solution, as this would vastly reduce wasted pages that get printed, but never get picked up and then just get printed again. Can anyone recommend a good solution to look at? Am I going in the wrong direction and should I think of doing something totally different?

I guess I could wait for Team Drive, but I still need to present the Office 365 option, so I still need a tool to migrate our data either to OneDrive or SharePoint.

I'm trying to migrate all of our staff shared areas to both G Suite and Office 365. Is there a recommended free tool for doing this? Or do I simply install Google Drive Sync and OneDrive Sync and drag and drop all the files? Also, what is the best way to currently copy this over the G Suite? I have applied for the Team Drive, but still haven't head anything back from Google. For now, should I copy it all to an account called "[email protected]" and share from there?

I have a couple of Windows 10 PCs that are not on the domain and being used as standalone. I have mapped the shared drives, primarily for SIMS to the PC and ticked to reconnect at login. I have then put in the users credentials and ticked the box to remember credentials. However, the PCs are forgetting the credentials at every logoff meaning they have to be re-entered every time. Is there a way I can "force" it to remember?

Do you have any evidence to backup this statement? What holes are present? I've successfully commissioned iPads at 2 schools and frankly put, I think Meraki have just got better with MDM as iOS has matured and enabled more MDM features. Also, people have been saying since iOS 8 that Meraki was gonna stop being free for under 100 devices, yet, it's still free as of iOS 10 and Meraki (AFAIK) have never announced any plans to change the free option.

We are looking at replacing the WiFi, but I'm more inclined towards Meraki at the moment. Moving towards centralising all our services, MDM, wireless and switching to Meraki. The biggest benefit is ease of setup and management. We have the LGfL VoIP solution around the school. But, I don't think it includes a tannoy function. The handsets we have around the school are Cisco 3905 and Cisco 7861.

Our Business Manager wants to implement a school-wide tannoy system, to use for important messages across the large geographical area of the school. Does anyone have any recommendations for any companies that can provide this?

It all comes down to want and desire and also to realism. I have an iPhone 6 Plus, which I bought on day of release to replace my iPhone 4 which was getting awfully slow and cumbersome. I also bought my wife an iPhone 6 to replace her 3GS. Yes, Apple were still updating the phones, but they were getting slow and we wanted new features such as Touch ID and Apple Pay, AirPlay, AirDrop and frankly put, faster phones that didn't struggle so much with the latest versions of iOS. The reality of course is that I saved up £100/Month for 2 whole years in order to buy the 2 phones. I would love to upgrade to the new iPhone/Mac/MacBook etc every year, but unfortunately, finances simply won't allow it! That doesn't mean that I don't want the new device every time it comes out though! That desire just gets put way down the realistic priority list!

I've managed to do all of the above with Cisco Meraki MDM. It's free for up to 100 devices and I picked it up in no time, so give it a go. After 100 devices you need to purchase a license for every device though (including the 100 previously free ones!) but well worth it in my opinion.

But don't you still need a Facebook account to use Messenger?

Also, if they just choose to piggyback off BT's network like every other provider, then it's doomed to the same failures as everyone else. If they choose to implement their own network infrasture, then that would be a VERY interesting prospect!

Not suprised to be honest, it was dying a slow death for a long time and it didn't help that Twitter was offering itself as a video hosting service. I personally think that Periscope will be next in the firing line. Twitter will just swallow the live streaming fuction in to it's own app and kill off Periscope, as having to use a different app is a hindrance to new(er) users than just having all the functionality in 1 app. Mark Zuckerberg can deny it all he wants, but not having Facebook and Messenger in 1 app is why Messenger is no where near as popular as it would be. I've personally stopped using it as much as I used to and I know a lot of others have too!

It's Learning/Fronter is what we are using too, until November at which point we'll be ditching it and moving to Office 365. It was a "forced" sign up for schools in our LA and they still "threaten" people from moving away by not making certain important documents readily available to users unless they log in via Fronter which costs anywhere from £3500/year. It's one of the clunkiest systems I have ever seen and has the worst support, which has only got worse since It's Learning took it over.

Unfortunately doesn't work with Office for Mac

Thanks for that DB. Unfortunately, I only have an iOS device. Is there a suitable iOS alternative? I've seen this one (https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/engine-link-obd-ii-vehicle/id591557194?mt=8) but it seems to have very poor reviews and hasn't been updated in quite a while.

I purchased my Vauxhall Zafira B in 2014 (59 plate, registered in 2010). I purchased it from a dealer in Luton. A few weeks in to driving it, I was doing about 15 MPH on my local road and the entire car switched itself off mid-drive! Total loss of power, electrics, everything. Being an automatic, I had to bring the car to a halt, put it in to park and turn the key again in the ignition. Thought nothing of it and carried on. A few months later, the same thing happened again. Once again, travelling at low speed, like 20 MPH and shut off. The third time and fourth time it happened, was when I was coming towards a junction and slowly braking as you do. The car just switched off completely. I took it back to the dealer who said it was an issue with the accelerator pedal. They resolved it and I was on my way. A few months later, same issue. Took it back and they said it was a CIM issue. So, they replaced the CIM and reprogrammed both my keys. A few months later, the very same issue occurred again. I took it back and they said it’s the CIM again. I couldn’t understand why it had gone faulty again, but alas, changed the CIM again, keys recoded and back I went. Lo and behold, it has happened several times again since. Thankfully, it only seems to occur at low speeds, but I definitely don’t want to take the risk of it happening if I’m on the motorway! Not fancying yet another long drive to Luton, I asked a local mechanic to have a look at the fault codes and this is what he found: P1614-50: Wrong Transponder Key P1616-00 CIM (Steering Column Module) Wrong Environment Identifier B3055-00: Transponder Key Problem U2105-00 CAN-Bus No Communication with ECM (Engine Control Module) As soon as he saw the codes, he said you have a faulty CIM. It was only when I told him that they’ve already changed it twice, that he said something else clearly isn’t correct here. Any ideas what could be the cause of my issues and exactly what I can do to fix the problem once and for all?

I enjoyed it. I was so disappointed to see Razor go out so early though! As was most of Twitter it seems! I wonder if HypnoDisc and Chaos 2 are coming back. HypnoDisc vs Carbide would be very interesting indeed!

I can't seem to get my head around sharing in Office 365. Is there any way that I can create a "Shared Area" in Office 365? I've tried creating a user called "Shared Area" and I've tried (with great difficulty!) to share all the files with all users, but when I log in as a new user, I can't see the files in "Shared with me". Is there any simple way I can achieve this?

I believe most of the "digital" Argos stores have now replaced most of their iPads with Samsung tablets. I know all my local stores have. The store in Westfield Stratford used to have iPads and they replaced them with Samsung tablets. Not sure why, maybe iOS didn't do what they wanted it to, but the iOS experience to me felt more smoother, but hey, I'm a biased Apple fanboy!

"Not a showstopper" - Maybe not for you and I. But definitely for the end user. Making a single celled table is counter intuitive. Why not have a single option to add a border to a page? It's not asking for much. I'm not saying GAfE is useless, far from it, like you say, it does some things a LOT better than Office 365. The trouble is, it's clearly not easy migrating from a Microsoft rich environment. It's great if you are starting from scratch with no files whatsoever with a clean slate. But the trouble is, hardly anyone is. We have terabytes of files we need to migrate over from local storage to the cloud and the Google option as I see it at the moment is just gonna cause confusion mayhem for staff for whom these things are a showstopper.
