  1. [ubuntu] 11.04 wireless issue AR9287/AR5B97 - Ubuntu Forums anyone?
  2. i created a post on the ubuntuforums.org about 5 mins before i posted here. Ive just logged back into my ubuntuforums.org account and there is no sign of any posts by me, and the url i posted in my original post ended up at some other post.
  3. any particular page on the Ubuntu forums? I've not spent as much time on this as i could so any pointers would be much appreciated
  4. has anyone looked at this? Welcome to Skype in the classroom | Skype Education We block skype for students, but been asked to look into this.. are any other schools using this? Is there a way to allow this 'educational' skype without allowing them full blown access to skype?
  5. Our whole network is Enterasys... Anyone else using them since this last post?
  6. Im dualbooting my new acer aspire 1830T. with windows 7 the atheros wireless card works great. with the latest ubuntu it doesnt work at all. Windows reports it as an Atheros AR5B97 however doing a lscpi in ubuntu shows it as an AR9287. Not too sure what i should be doing to get this up and running in ubuntu, any help would be much appreciated. (Ps. crossposted here [edit, i posted this same thread on the ubuntuforums.org but the post has vanished from there] Thanks. RB
  7. Just out of interest, does the introduction of the new Microsoft licensing model still make MS office too expensive for you?
  8. all you need to do is have the hyperV host to shut down sanely. Within hyperV itself, you can set what happens to the client machines when the host shuts down.
  9. Finally got a resolution to this problem, and ill post it here just in case anyone was following this thread. It seems our moodle server was upgraded to PHP 5.3 about the time the plugin stopped working. It turns out PHP 5.3 for linux removed the mhash module, which the live@edu plugin requires. This is what caused the problem. PHP 5.3 for windows still includes this module. With a lot of help, we managed to get mhash from the previous php version compiled into PHP 5.3. This should have fixed the problem, (but for some reason the live.azure.com site made us reverify our domain, not sure what happened there) But I must say that throughout our issue, Microsoft were great and provided no end of support, even putting us in touch with the plugin developers directly.
  10. aye we jumped from 2003 to 2010. I never had a problem with 2007 but 2010 just fixes up a few minor issues that 2007 introduced (the office button is reverted back to 'file' for example)
  11. Ive tweaked the settings and have managed to get it down to under the assigned 3GB. Thanks for the help
  12. have you tried contacting them to see why you havent received your new cd?
  13. When making PowerPoint slides, underneath each slide is a section for "notes". Is it possible when doing a presentation for the projector to show the full slideshow, but still keep the notes part visible for the presenter? Cheers

  15. and here was me thinking they found him via his PSN account...
  16. we ended up going with these guys after trialling a load over a year.. Fortinet, Inc. : Network Security Appliance | Network Security | Business Network Security works well, and the fact they had local support here in syd was the decisive factor.
  17. Cheers, but as I said previously, this is just a test VM in a dev environment, and only has 1 mailbox. In production we use the FortiGuard firewall appliance with the FortiMail add-on which does all our Spam needs.
  18. aye, that old install was on virtualbox on a linux host which probably wasn't the wisest. It runs a lot lot better under hyper v now; FFP was actually useable. But the box only has 8gb ram in it and exchange is using 2gb; with FFP installed it was demanding 4.5gb.
  19. has anyone managed to get ubuntu working with an Atheros ar9287 Wireless driver? I'm struggling...
  20. @sukh Its just a VM in a dev environment and FP was taking up way to much resources. Ive deleted the smaphaus entry, and readded it, and it seems to have nipped the spam in the bud, not had any today at least. Will see how it goes. We use a 3rd party appliance in production which does all spam and av etc.
  21. I was using Zen.spamhaus as a blocklist for Exchange and it was working great. I then tried Forefront for Exchange for a couple of months, and disabled spamhaus. Ive since uninstalled forefront, re-enabled the spamhaus blocklist, but Im now getting like 30 spams a day; I don't think the Zen blocklist is working properly. Is there any way to check whats going on?
  22. makes a lot more sense after the edit
