We all run 2008R2 as our daily workstations.

sorry to hijack the thread but its pretty much on topic. Each of us in the IT Dept has a c:\ISO folder where I keep the latest MS volume license images. At the moment, I manually update each of our folders. This is tedious. We all run 2008R2 as our daily workstations. Would I use DFS with file replication to be able to have each workstation have its own local copy of the ISOs, but they would automatically update whenever I downloaded a new ISO into my local ISO folder? (never Used dfs, just stumbled upon this thread which made me think)

Im trying to setup a relay to allow a web based application on a local webserver send email through our exchange server. Ideally I would like it to authenticate first. It needs to be able to send as different people, so that when students reply, the replies go to the respective teacher that generated the email. At the moment the webserver is just sending emails using its own buildin postfix, but I would like them to be going through our exchange.. Im just not sure how to go about it? Cheers

because that requires logging into live@edu which then also single sign on's them into moodle. It requres changing moodle to use live@edu as its authenticator. Not all of our users use live@edu, but they all use moodle, so theres no way that would work.
-
are you sure 5.3 works? From research today it shows that mhash was removed from php 5.3 PHP: PHP 5.3.0 Release Announcement The issue was that after clicking the outlook live button in moodle, and then taking you to the live.com login page, it would then return to moodle a login unsuccessful which would display an error from moodle about login failed. (see attached) Its frustrating that our moodle is outsourced. They are blaming the upgrade to php 5.3 for breaking it, and whinging for microsoft not supporting an open source project (MS is focussed on 365 now and has no interest in the old plugin). Why they even went live with a php upgrade, without testing it with everything in the first place is beyond me. edit: also, what ramifications does the URL changes have to the plugin?

has anyone that is using the live@edu plugin with moodle on linux upraded to php 5.3 and managed to get the plugin working?

I have a MBCS, and now also an MACS, which I had to qualify for seperately, and also an MIET. The ACS was the hardest to get. How do I get an CITP?

Adding a 2nd Exchange 2010 Server
RabbieBurns replied to RabbieBurns's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Thanks for the prompt reply Sukh I was thinking of having both scotland and australia as single CAS, defined by DNS (is it called round robin? Im not entirely sure, my idea is that mail.mydomain.com would resolve to the scottish IP, and the aus IP, so clinets would just connect to either) .. the fact that my 2 sites are located goegraphically apart is different from what I would be trying to achieve in better circumstances, its just to do with what I have avaiolable to me.. Ideally, I would have 2 seperate WAN Ips, which would also be MX, and would go to 2 seperate local exhcnange What Im thinking of, is the 2 seperate locations (sco and au) would be basically DAG I thnk (via a server to server VPN), so the mailboxes for each user would be redplciaed on either side, and each side would offer all of the Client Access. So if the entire SCO network was down, the AU would provide Client acces, and all of the mailbox.. This probably woulndnt be practical in a real world environment with real offices and users I guess? Again, this is just me, learning and playing. But I reall appreciate your help and support -
we have a standard layout, the only thing that changes is the name, position, emaill, direct line, and mobile I only went for name and position and the rest was auto done for me.. on my cards, as it never even entered my head to put anything else.. Its only speaking to teachers who have put the idea in my head.. The ironic thing is, that as they think I am the most qualified with degree, its the plebs from college that they actually send on the MS training.. so in a year or so, these kids will be more employable than me
-
I got the (hons) part of my degree, but I guess I would like to get the masters.. I might see if I can one here without paying the astronomical foreign student fees...
-
I am now in a job where my employer would like to have me have business cards.. Having never had one before, what is the standard of putting letters after your name? Do you just list your name and your position? Do you list your degree? Do you list your proffesional institutions as well? I just went for my name and my position as I didnt really know... but for the next run, would be good to know..

my mate runs a blog for the glasgow unsigned bands scene.. its all voluntary, but its picking up in its popularity.. Favourite Son is the blog hes recently put a request on the blog facebook page asking for help with a banner for the blog If anyones able to knock something up who doesnt mind helping, would be great.. cheers

guess i should update this.. bearing in mind my location, i might be able to plant a few more temperate things than neeps and tatties.. Its just a townhouse, the garden is mostly lawn, but there is flowerbeds round the edges of the lawn.. the other weekend i dug out the flowerbeds, the soil is just a mass of stones, weeds, roots etc.. Its dry and sandy... If i dig it out deep and get a wheelbarrow and ditch all of the aforementioned, what would i fiil it up with? Just soil from B+Q equiv? Would it be better getting those growbag things im sure ive seen?

Adding a 2nd Exchange 2010 Server
RabbieBurns replied to RabbieBurns's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
sukh, if you get a chance, could you comment on the diagram / idea above please? -
Ive got 2 of these cards in 2 seperate servers, they are dual 10gig, and Im trying to team them. Ive got them plugged straight into the core, and the 2 sets of teams setup correctly on the core. For the last few weeks ive been blaming the modules, blaming the fibres, blaming the core... Today, i put the cards into 2x 2003 Server machines, and they all worked perfectly. So I know the fibres are OK, the team on the core is fine, the modules are all fine.. IVe got the latest drivers from the Intel site, Im not sure what else to try?? Any suggesitons?!

you would need to create a subdomain for your students email, and it wouldnt have anything to do with your internal exchange. We have the exact same setup. So what I would do is create a new A record in DNS for, say students.mydomain.com if your main domian is mydomain.com Then sign up for live@edu with this domain. They will provide you with the contents of what to put in a CNAME dns recors, which is used to prove you own it. OInce that is done, you can add the MX records, which they provide as well. Once this is done, you need to consider how you are going to create and manage the students mailboxes. I would recommend ILM if you can afford the ~200 quid it costs. Although with the new office365 on the way, I believe it uses ADFS so you might be wasting money there, not sure..

Since installing FF4, Outlook Web App 2010 seems to play a sound when I get a new mail.. Is this related to FF4? Or something updated in OWA ive missed?
-
there is a many multi page thread on live@edu here. I will find the link for you in a bit
-
cheers, will try to sneak a peak at that at work in the morning.. and I guess Re the rock, I guess I should read my own broadsheet first and foremost.. Air Strikes On Libya | Blasts Reported Near Gaddafi's Home
-
yup, rock. anyway, why are the west caring about this? Theres a lot worse genocide going on in the world... why care so much about this one country?
-
quite possibly re the size.. all the schools with an ICT Director I know of are big schools, with IT budgets over 6 figures.
