Is the lodger paying rent? why not move to a proper broadband provider that gives more than a measly 30gb? You can get unlimited adsl2+ packages for about 30 quid a month, and 20 quid will get you much more than 30

I want to set the above. Is it possible?

I am a Sony fanboy. I must admit most of my stuff is Sony. I drew the line at getting a Sony TV, as they were just way out my budget. I was able to get a 50" LG for what a 42" Sony would have cost me. Granted, it doesnt have all the features or media playback or internet connectivity, but I have all that through my WDTVLive anyway. Althuogh this would have been a welcome addition : Sony brings Skype to Bravia HD TVs ? reghardware

does sdtron work with windows 7? I deployed it way back, but have completely forgotten about it since. I assume its still working?

all our teachers are laptops and are wireless. So they might have them open for 50 minutes while they teach, and then close them again for the rest of the day till they decide they need to use them agian. They never connect via copper, but all the access points are connected via decent infrastructure. All i would be wanting is the Documents folder, so anything they have in any of their other libraries im not interested in.

SO how are they meant to play poker online if they cant pay for it? That's like saying its not illegal to drive a motor car, just as long as you don't pay a petrol station for your fuel is it not? I followed the story this last week closely seeing as it was an aussie that turned snitch to bust them all, but the part of the equation I coulndt understand was why it was such a big deal / illegal / whatever in the US. You see in the simpsons and american TV about 'illegal' poker games going on in garages and in pubs behind closed doors etc, and the fact that everyone was always going to vega, i was under the impression that folks had to go thereo do their gambling (they should just try banning alcohol, see if that works)

For all intents and purposes, our teachers are pretty much remote users. They take their laptops home, do all their work at home, and bring them in to utilise their productions in the classroom. Since we moved to windows 7, we moved away from redirecting their My Documents to their folder on the staff network share, as whenever they were actually creating and saving documents, they were away from the network, and as such their My Documents wasnt available (and this redierection not available caused all sorts of issues with XP) Now with 7, Ive partitioned their HD, they have a D: drive where all their work goes, and they are told they need to copy it to their Home Folder on the server to ensure it is backed up hourly etc. Is there anything I can use that will sync their Documents folder to their home folder on the server once they connect to our school network (and only their documents, we let staff keep their Itunes, personal photos, etc etc on their D: Drive, so I dont want that Syncing back to the server) THey all have VPN access to their school Shared folders, but I wouldnt want / trust them to do anything via that, I want something automated. I used Microsoft SyncToy with a couple of staff with XP as an experiment, and it served well, but it was reliant on the staff running it manually. Im looking for something similar to the synctoy from microsoft.. but automatic.. Cheers.

Is gambling illegal in the USA?

one thing worth doing before you blitz a new acer computer is using their utility to burn a drivers and utilities CD. Saves loads of time when you reimage it to a standard windows image and realise you need to install a whole load of drivers. Also things like the Acer 3G connection manager etc software is worth putting back on, and the Acer CrystaEye webcam software etc.

The network I'm looking after now has a main 10gb and 1gb fiber runs throughout the buildings. Ive never worked with fiber before, and getting a bit confused with the terminologies involved. Is there somewhere that I can read up about the various types for fibre and terminologies etc. eg, single mode vs multi mode, distances, speeds etc? Module types, LX, SX etc etc and which goes with which type of fiber? Basically something for a complete fiber newbie.. cheers

I went on a training course which included all the lab work and the textbooks, but I need to do the exam. The course was 10215A, how do I find out about what exam it is to do, and where abouts do I do the exam. Is it an online thing? Never done any MS stuff before.

you need to populate the MSN ID field for each student with their live@edu email address and then change the login method to MSN ID. This isnt a seamless process though, once they are logged in to Moodle, and click Sign In on the live@edu block, it then takes them to the windows live sign in page where they sign in with their live@edu username and password (we use ILM so the passwords are synced which makes things easier) and after login is successful, brings them back to Moodle. There is a known issue with the latest version of PHP for linux though which stops the sign in working completely.

it could well have been that the seagates were part of the dodgy batch. I ended up buying WD 2TB with the new motherboard so never actually got to test fully properly.

I ended up buying a new motherboard with onboard raid, I couldnt get any of the PCI cards i tried to work properly with the 1.5tb seagates I was using. Didnt even try with a 2tb.

Im having to go round all our servers remote access consoles and change the local login password after one of our admins has left. I think it would be a better idea to just have an AD group that has the access, but I cant seem to figure out how to set it up on the various consoles. We have a mixture of HP / Dell and Acer servers, but if anyone can provide a comprehensive howto for AD auth for a specific group for either of the 3 manufacturers. Would be great
