Thanks Chris i'll give this a go. -
Apparently although i've not tried this yet... Under routines, Staff, Delete staff you are able to remove most staff, but you may find that you actually have to delete most of the data already in the staff record first before running the routine.
-
Same issue here we have been given the following information:

In most cases, it is not possible to delete the entire record of a staff member because of the complexity of links to other data within SIMS. In the Spring 2019 release of SIMS we relaxed some of the rules that prevented deletion in previous versions, mainly to cover the scenario where a member of staff has been added to SIMS in preparation for their arrival, but did not eventually join the school. A video demonstration can be found here: https://youtu.be/-kR7C6mSBr8. However, If a staff member has been at the school for any longer periods of time, their references across the database will be large and complex and this recent update is unlikely to help.

Solution

Where a previous member of staff now wishes to exercise their right to be forgotten in SIMS, if the school has no legal basis to retain this information, then they can delete data where possible, for example contact information, employment information, staff contract etc. At this point it may still not be possible to delete the entire record, in this case we recommend that the school anonymise the record by replacing personal identifiable information with GGDP Forename Redacted as an example. This will therefore mean that this persons record, where links cannot be removed, will no longer identify this person. Currently there are no plans to enhance this process or introduce new routines to improve delete, introduce bulk delete or a process to anonymise in the application. All current and future roadmap headlines are kept up to date on MyAccount: https://myaccount.capita-cs.co.uk/Notifications/SIMS7-Product-Roadmap/

Hi all, After a bit of advice. We use GSuite for Education (not enterprise). From what I can see, Google's 'Security Centre' which allows you to search through email and cloud content is only available to: "The security center is available with G Suite Enterprise, Drive Enterprise, G Suite Enterprise for Education, and Cloud Identity Premium. Some features in the the security center—for example, data related to Gmail and Drive—are not available with Cloud Identity Premium." This means that at the moment, we have no way of adhering to lawful requests such as subject access requests which may include email and cloud services, unless I am missing something obvious? Does anybody know if I can buy a small number of 'Gsuite for education enterprise' license for our current Google tenancy and apply it to our super admins? if so does anybody have any recommend contacts? Thanks

Hi All, Can anybody recommend me a high quality interactive touch screen that works well with Microsoft products (powerpoint etc)? Thanks -
Hi, Can anybody recommend any free software that would enable me to essentially map out CCTV camera locations on a school outline map? I know I could probably do this with Visio or Publisher, but wondering if there is any free cctv dedicated design software. Thanks

Just an update - I have managed to stop it occurring one one machine successfully. I removed the battery and AC power lead, held down the power button for 30 seconds to discharge the board and any capacitors. I then continued to hold the power button down for 5 second intervals three times. On plugging the battery back in and the AC power, the computer successfully shuts down. Still early days as I need to try this across our other impacted laptops however first signs are promising. I noticed a reference to a Lenovo laptop that acted similarly due to overcharging of a capacitor... "this problem is due to overcharging of a capacitor that messes up the ACPI and charging functions. also this might be triggered if you remove the charger while shutting down windows. possible solution: 1.) power off the system by pressing the power button during restart. 2.) unplug the charger then remove the battery pack. 3.) press the power button for at least 30 seconds then press it again 5 times with 5 seconds intervals. this will discharge all remaining charge. 4.) put back the battery and boot up the system. 5.) plug the charger."

Thanks gtg3 unfortunately still doesn't work after trying your recommendations. I have just noticed that when this laptop is 'off' the domain this does not happen.

We've found that even after disabling fast boot in BIOS the issue still occurs, its driving us mad and causing heat build up in one of our laptop trolleys! Argh!
-
Anybody experiencing this issue again? Google Chrome is displaying Deceptive Site / phishing warning for us this morning on CPOMS, fine on IE and Edge.
-
did anybody ever manage to get to the bottom of this? We have a handful of Fujitsu A544's on Win10 that restart instead of shutting down. We have updated bios, reset bios to default, clean reformat of machine, off domain, on domain, doesn't seem to matter.

Hi all, Just want to gauge opinions on laptop screen sizes for secondary school/college. We currently have old 15 inch laptops, I am looking at replacing some of these and I am currently looking at laptops with a 14inch screen size. Do you think 14 inch is too small for practical use by students? Do any of you use 14 inch laptops and if so have their been any complaints from students regarding the screen size? Thanks

Try Live Register - not sure about the Tucasi online payments but we have been with them for over two years and they have been great.

Calling all technicians, network managers, IT Pro's - what are the technical specifications of the computer you currently use in your respective place of work: I'll start: Fujitsu Celcius W530 8GB RAM Intel Xeon E3-1225 v3 3.20GHz 256GB SSD Primary 1TB HD Secondary

As others have stated the post does vary depending on the schools/institutions requirements. Broadly I would say the duties of a Network Manager include: - Responsible for managing and maintaining an effective and safe school network - Management of technicians, performance reviews, training etc. - Input at senior management level and be the onsite expert for ICT. - Creation and enforcement of ICT policies (security, remote working, password policies, acceptable use) etc. - Development of network and ICT (ICT Strategy) 1,3,5 year plans - Budget control / procurement decision making - License management - 1st to 3rd line - Hardware/Software Support - Accountability for data and network security, ensuring compliance with appropriate UK/EU legislation. - Build effective relationships with suppliers ensuring value for money purchasing.
