Ric, What are the chances of acquiring the 2402's off you, we have Planet switches throughout, however older modules and mos the time they're either fibre convertor uplinked and multiple switches copper uplinked. Alex

Yeah, HP Proliant, it's also our 2008 IPv4/6 DHCP Server as well, as this was needed for McAfee and Windows NAP enforcement.

Working perfectly actually now that its actually going. Have tested the following sysprep images: (We used to use the WinPE disk, imagex capture etc, not one touch deployment which it is now) - Windows XP Pro, no drivers no software, just a clean install. (Three minutes for deployment, 2 for Sysprep mini-setup to run) Need to test the other images. Our ICT image is 15.2GB :/ May take a while.

Yeah its showing as an Install Image and is online, however as Gatt said above I need to use the Vista/2008 boot.wim file to create boot/capture/deploy images.

Let me just clarify this for myself. Copy boot.wim from 2008 DVD, add as image, right click and create capture image, right click and create discover image. boot.wim = the standard WinPE 2.1 environment with the command prompt? capture.wim (created) = capture environment with the step-by-step instructions for capturing. discover.wim (created) = deployment environment, from here I should be able to select my install image?

So my Server 2008 DVD should have this *.wim file?

Hi Guys, Small query. I'm having trouble getting WDS on Server 2008 to work correctly. WDS is installed perfectly, and the boot.wim image added from the WAIK sources, from there I created a Capture CD (When Syspreping machines). BOOT.WIM - Works fine, loads the WinPE 2.1 Environment CAPTURE.WIM - Works fine (Only when a machine has been syspreped otherwise it cant read the HDD) Earlier today, I did the norm. Installed Windows XP, all updates, all programs, all required changes and the likes to get a flat working XP version for rebuilding use. I sysprepped the machine on RESEAL after chaning HAL and adding various other pre-changes. F12 booted into WDS > Capture > Image Captured and Uploaded to WDS Server > Showing in "Install Images" However... whenever I F12 boot, I cannot see this install image. Any ideas why I can't? I followed the Microsoft WDS Step-by-step and it says it should be showing. I tried to change the default boot program from pxeboot.com to wdnlsr.com or whatever its name, but that provided an infinte loop. Just cant seem to get the install images to show. Suggestions? Happens on ocassions here.... But as a pre-warning, this problem seems to be a prerequirement for the Anti-Virus 2009 installer, that spyware/bloatware/adware/virus that automatically installs.

Let's just hope its soon, AMD always do it best, but thats my opinion. Everyone jumped in Intels wagon when their Quads came out, only because theyre clocking ability was better than the AMD versions, little did they know, they aren't true Quads, and nothing really utilizes all four, where AMD does. Only problem AMD need to fix is their B stepping, 2 is broken, 3 is perfect but released far too late in the game. However the fact AMD are now pressing, Graphics, Processer and Chipset together looks very promising indeed.

If you want real performance, than you want to head toward and AMD spider system. AMD Phenom 9950 BE Any AM2+ Motherboard supporting 140W processors! (MUST HAVE 790SX/FX) Chipset, and a ATI 4870 X2. Alot cheap, adn the Phenoms are true quads, where the Intels aren't, they have less pipes to the cores, where AMD Quads have 1 pipe per core instead of being shared.

Not sure about those, aren't those uplink modules for the switches? Where as the 4SC is a 4 port fibre output. Slot 1 on the Switch: Slot 1 and the blown Fibre port:

How is that future proof.... £300 for a machine and monitor? What spec are you going to get with that? £150 for a double power socket and network socket? Thats way over estimated. Thats £4500 for the room.....

1. Open the .man file in regedit, import it into the hive 2. Create a Folder on a server somewhere, with everyone permissions for read/write 3. Find the reference to Tempory Internet Files in the profile Under Microsoft > Windows > Current Version > Shell Folders etc etc, and move Temp Internet Files to that location. I.e. \\servername\share\temp etc etc. Don't forget to unload the hive. Load the profile up with an account, and everything Temp Internet will be written to that folder, and remain there. May be worth just deleting the content every now and again.

You should in theory look at £500 a machine, including monitor. There are the costs for electricity, cabling, switches, desks. Cover licenses per machine, and tally up a rough costing, all these features and your looking at around £600 per machine including cabling. We have total Volume License here, anything we buy is VL, so we never factor this into anything. Printer (HP2605n), we seem to use these in all our ICT suites, they do the job, and are quite adequate! Projector, IWB, Switches = Another cost £1200 for IWB, £400 or that mark for a decent 2000,2200 lumen projector. Switch? Managed quite heft, unmanaged, shouldn't be a problem

Trying to find establishments in the UK that provide software training as a reseller as direct contacts your looking at £800-£1100 per day for a 3 day course. Trying to find a course that covers McAfee Network Access Control, the bolt-in program itself is fine, sensors running, compliancy there, deployed and the likes... however McAfee provide no documentation for the product (I do have a PDF, but had to beg their corporate side to have a copy, and was told there are alot of errors and alot of the information is misguided as its not a final document) however I cannot find any reference anywhere to McAfee NAC + Windows Server 2008 NAP enforcement, and in the end a training course is the only way to go to get upto speed. Emailed [email protected] and was told they're currently preparing their course, but estimated waiting time is around four months. Can't seem to find anything anywhere, does anyone have advice where to go, or do any Supplies/Resellers browsing EduGeek provide resellers training on the product?
