And previous to Mods and one rule for one etc, I think Diello needs to get off his high horse. We do NTLM authentication at present, however we don't implement any group/user membership actions. NTLM >(yes accepted)> change to general trusted> wbinfo_group.pl > allow etc?

Hi Guys, Wondering if anyone could lend a hand with something, as my coding foo is not strong. I'm trying (if possible) to implement a simple redirect for AUP within squid, so users have to accept a policy. A user would request for example google.com, squid would than check its redirect program and issue a 302 redirect to a locally hosted webpage containing the schools "Internet AUP" wherein they are able to accept, a cookie is set, and they than proceed to the page they requested. Now obviously, there are a few problems. 1) Redirect script would need to catch the url requested from squid, and redirect at the end 2) Redirect script would need to check if a 12hour cookie has been set thus the user has previously accepted the AUP 3) Redirect script would need to be able to catch all URLS, er say *.*? Without catching the initial url, there isnt much point as the redirect page would jusst halt the process if a cookie is set. Does anyone think this can be done? Removing access would allow everyone through, but no logging of usernames, and management is horrid. To get it working, albeit to it, however contact support and get them working.

Sounds more like an issue with profiles than, if theres something different between the users, than surely thats the problem. 1. On a student thats working, copy their roaming profile from wherever its saved. 2. Place in an accessible folder with "Everyone" read permissions 3. Rename .dat file to .man 4. Load .man into hive and call 010101. 5. Right click 010101 > Permissions > Add "Everyone" read/write (its mandatory, no writing actually takes place) 6. Change students profile paths to \\servername\mandatory 7. Log them in, and check it all works. There are guides on Edugeek if your unsure about mandatory profiles and permissions and the likes.

What kind of profile do they all have? Roaming per user, or mandatory per group?

Made sure all the users are using passwords? For example ISA server wont allow a connection with a blank password. Our lower school pupils YEARS 6 and below don't have passwords as they forget them all the time. Those machines that work, get a pupil that doesnt work to try on a working machine, it could be machine related. Popups, activex controls, security (site settings) etc.

Download & Go using our self-installation Linux software No need for instructions! Download onto server, open terminal, cd to folder, chmod a+x filename, ./filename and it'll go, if there are dependancy issues it'll state them.

You're looking more along the lines of a MAC compatiable MIS system. It may be worth finding out if the market leading Windows MIS companies produce a compliant Mac version of there software. Companies along the lines of Serco, SIMS etc. You may also looking into the open source alternative of Moodle and its add-ins

Serco provided a VLE which bolts in, and they host it themselves, which in turn saves you alot of bandwidth.

Now I'm perfectly fine with ads, I know the site needs its revenue from them, and I've got no quam with them. However three times this morning I've had obstrusive adds which open in a "javascript lightbox-esque" window, stopping my navigation till I close the advert. Whats all that about? This a planned service?

RM here as well on a 8MB 20:1 line. We do our own mail now, however RM still filter (not for much longer as we're going todo it in house)

We use Facility, and ePortal, same thing really but different backends, provided by Serco. We use it all, lesson registration, behaviour management, auto-mated timetabling, auto-mated covering, reporting. The whole lot and it runs effortlessly

Replace the parts, more cost effective, it does save money in the long run. You can also assess it and could possibly use it as an upgrade path for the rest of the "suite" if need be. The only decent thing buying/leasing from Dell (if anyone does) is warranty and next day repairs, other than that the long term lifeline of machines is slim.

Anyone know where to find this ellusive package? I need the files to build ProxCube (Reporting for SQUID) however can't find the package anywhere, google shows there is an RPM (which I can alien) however its not showing in the search. Any other packages link/contain the mysql devel files? I'm going to go sit in the corner, all these dependancy failures =(
