ICT Direct can source chargers for you. just paid £25ish for one. think it was a repair/reman unit though but still good quality no probs so far.

I've been finding that quite a few legitimate websites have been getting blocked recently. coming up as quite random catergories as well.

yeah removing programs in startup from msconfig should enable you to find the problem app.

I'll be snowboarding in the swiss alps christmas day! which will be fun! then back down to the apartment on the edge of lake geneva for festive tipples with the family!
-
Have you tried safe mode with networking to see if the problem is replicated there? could be a service not unloading itself correctly at logoff.
-
yeah tried that still the same. gonna try digging through everything now.

all xp sp2! sorry forgot to mention that. even happens when logged in as admin on those machines

I've got an issue that doesn't seem to be effecting all the computers in school but just a few. right the problem is if i go to a users "home folder" which is essentially a mapped drive and try to open say a word document explorer will crash and render the machine un useable until a reboot is done. now if i go into word and select the same document from open file dialog it opens fine and the users are able to work fine. event viewer isn't giving me any clues. so if anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated. Cheers

not enough snow for school to shut up my neck of the woods but enough to make everybody drive at 5 miles an hour which really infuriates me. especially when there isn't even any on the roads!!!!

If theyr're not joined to the domain they won't show up in AD. if there is any machines that are not on the network i do exactly as peterH has described with adding them to a workgroup of the same name as your domain and setting user account and passwords exactly the same as on your domain to sort out the authentication. and you should be working at that.

My parents have an appartment on the side of the lake over there in a nice little village called St Gingolph there is loads to do round that area depends on what your interested in though. there is the montreaux jazz festival on around that time of year I think? loads of mountains to walk around there is a glacier open all year round at a ski resort called les diablerets (Glacier 3000) part of gstaad i think. obviously mont blanc is available to go up. Zermatt is a lovely place you can go up to the summit of the kleine matterhorn i think by lift pretty much. sorry if thats just one big block of mumbo jumbo. if you have any questions just ask.
