we use surf control here and seems to do an excellent job of keeping the little darlings off anything you don't want them on! i'm pretty sure by the logs it creates that it does do content filtering but i'm not 100% sure! Kris

When i started in industry i started on 10k after college at a local firm, then got made redundant from said firm, then for some bizarre reason started working as a chef. but whilst all this was going on the primary schools i used to look after contacted me and i started doing 1 day a week for them, after a year of doing this i got contacted by the head teacher of a local high school which in turn got me out of being a chef (thank god) and got me back into IT but only on just over 11k or around that figure (Pro Rata) but now i'm full time at the top of my current pay scale so ican't really complain to say i've only been doing this a year or so! sorry for the life story i just thought i'd add to this! if you'd of posted 2 months ago i was getting rid of 60 machines not very good spec mind but slightly better than yours! sent em down to first tech. i'd give them a call i'm sure they'd be able to sort something reasonable out! Kris p.s i think there phone no. is under our advertisers.

thought it might have to be a support call but with no warranty on it, its probably not worth it!.

got a problem with a latitude d 505, the problem is that the power adapter doesn't appear to be working! i've tried in another machine and it does work. the problem seems to be when you plug it in it shorts out the power adapter and knocks the little green light off! and then won't do anything at all, i've tried it without the battery and all other easy to remove items out of it. but i don't want to be completely dismantling as yet. so i just wondered if any of you guys have seen anything like this before!

Right i have some questions to ask re. this subject. What would happen with the sat nav based tracker systems when the weather is bad as it usually is where i live and most of the sat nav systems i've come into contact are basically crap and don't work correctly when its cloudy. and would you get charged for driving through a tunnel and what about if you drove abroad? all pointless questions i know, i what seems like a serious topic. Cheers Kris.

the admin server at our place is getting quite old now and needs replacing, does anybody have any specs to hand that i should be looking for? And who would you buy this off! does it have to be county with respect to their maintanence of sims and possibly not supporting if you buy elsewhere? or can you buy this from anywhere? Cheers Kris

we had this on ghost 7.5 with sata hard drives not being used in compatability mode if i remember correctly. also the ndis 2 driver could be at fault. from my experience of ghost if it picks up the mac address of the card it will boot into ghost but may not transfer at an alarming speed if its the wrong driver. say 2mb/sor less i had this a few weeks ago with 2 new suites of pc's. and it was a pita.

i've found sometimes when creating shorcuts off a client to the server it can take its \\machinename\prog name\prog.exe with it to the server i can't explain why it does it but if you recreate the shortcuts it generally works. Kris

Cheers Kris Here's the url http://www.softsland.com/Easy_Install_Maker.html [edited] My mistake its shareware! i'll have to learn how to read things first . If any body has any free msi creators that are available could you please let me know! Thanks again Kris [/edited]

It Will be a shorcut in your re-directed start menu that'll still be looking for "server 1" i had this when changing servers a few weeks ago! trawled through all shorcuts to find that 1 was causing the issue! What a pain! Kris

i did everything like log tables binary, hex etc... in my nd in telecommunications, and then covered binary and hex in my hnc computing mainly for c++ coding though. Kris

well this is a right git i just made the school shell out for 2 new servers and 62 new machines because of this and the fact the older ones in the it suites wouldn't run the software. saying that though they did need replacing! Kris
