Edit :- P.s. the topic title is meant to be scanning! its been a long week! just to make my self a little clearer this is a scanner of the picture variety not a port scanner or anything like that cheers. [I've made it even more clearer for you in the thread title - tarquel]

  13. not got server 2003 infront of me but if it was any where wouldn't be in system properties under system restore? or advanced like on xp? i've always hated system restore it hardly ever works properly. Kris
  14. i set up an an ftp folder on 1 of our servers and shared it out via iis gave student write only access to this folder and gave teachers full control of it. each teacher gets the kids to drag and drop their work into this folder with name and set in the filename and then the teacher copies it to the appropriate folder of their choice. once the kid drags or pastes the file into this folder, it then disappears out of their sight. there will be a better way to do something like this but this works for us and it was free! just takes a bit of messing with permissions. cheers Kris
  15. sorry i didn't read your second reply properly. have you checked all permissions on that specified folder as sophos uses its own usernames like sweepupd and emmanager or something along those lines check the permissions to see if anything is overriding that due to remote install needing to read from that share and using the username you specified for install!
  16. is this happening on all machine sor just a couple? i've had something similar to this happen on a couple and i ended up having to take them off the domain and then back on again and for some reason that works not entirely sure why though, but i'm not one to argue!

    Securus

received securus yesterday, so far very impressed install was extremely easy found our first ssupect this morning, very easy to use. do you pay for the liscences per user or per machine? we'll just to wait 2 weeks to see if its going to be cost effective or not but the head seems really impressed so we'll end up with it more than likely. but it does go to show without this sort of software on your network you wonder how many instances of this abuse you've already missed, which is quite a scary thought. its worth the money if you stop 1 pupil from getting bullied. the only problem is its probably a bit too sensitive picks up everything but they're probably things that you'd have to learn to ignore. cheers kris
  25. i've also got surfcontrol on the same box which i presume keeps everything in its own database? just had a securus box put in today for a trail so far very impressed, simple to roll out (very small msi package) i'll let you alll know how it goes many thanks kris
