Technically, the OP was receiving the material from a broadcast, the offence is broadcasting the material, not receiving it.

I would set up a server to run Citrix/Terminal services and allow the IPads to run sessions through that to access the flash based websites as I'm sure you're going to find more than just MyMaths that need flash.

I'm wondering how much money this would actually save. You would need to invest in a pretty hefty server farm, licencing for Citrix etc, increased security on the network, loan equipment for when a student has forgotten or broken their laptop, secure storage for the pupils laptops at lunchtime or when they're not using them. Also, I can see needing a bigger IT support team to sort out all the random laptop problems.

If your not using replication, then the folders have to be different names to see them both. if you are using replication then the local computer will connect to one of them and the data replicates to the other and if the connection failes it will start using the other one.

You'd be better in the group policy for the appdate folder redirection using the advanced option to specify different locations by user group. For us, we seperate the student by year group, makes it much easier to manage rather than having all the redirected folders in one folder on the server. So you'd have something like: \\server1\AppData\09students \\server1\AppData\10students etc..

Just checked, the Pro Support calls can be used for live systems as long as you can replicate the error in a non production environment, it's just the technet software downloads which are limited to non live systems. edit: added some clarification.

Technet still comes with ess, you also get the support calls and I've never had issues using the support calls for live systems.

@AGeffen We've only just started trialling KKS, but so far very impressed. The training was excellent, free and will come back to do any further training we want free of charge as well. It's really simple to use and has some nice time saving stuff in it. The audit trail and reporting are superb. The Events Manager is good, it's a bit basic at the moment but is something they are looking at improving and they do take notice of feature requests by schools. There is 'some' installation if you're integrating it with SIMS/CMIS, but it's a 5 minute job. They will give you a 2 month trial of the system so you can really see how it works, also I would get negotiating hard on the £200 per month ;-)

We are just testing Keep Kids Safe, very easy to use and the staff find it easy and it will do what you want. Training is included free of charge, very easy to set up and integrate with SIMS. You do get a 2 month trial period, just remember to cancel it if you don't go with it as you automatically get put on a contract if you don't from what I have read. The only problem we've found so far is with mobiles on Virgin, they strip the + from the beginning of the text number and so they can't reply to the message (the text number is in international format, so start +44 rather than 0, it's a UK number though). It works perfectly fine on any other mobile network, the + stays on the number and they can reply no problem.

There was no support from other African countries to do this in Zimbabwe, with our colonial background in Africa it would've caused all sort of other problems if we'd intervened, plus we wouldn't have got an UN resolution due to Zimbabwe's links with China. With Libya there is support of the Arab League, including military support.

Ok, at some point you've got to connect to the internet, how do you propose to do that? Only way I can think of is to stick an extra nic in the internet firewall and run the test network in a DMZ. Edit: you don't need a resource hog Firewall like Forefront TMG to do what I suggested, we use IPCop for this, uses hardly any memory or processor power.

If you allocate a laptop to a specific student and they are the main user, ie they take it home or use the same laptop every day, then you need the extra pack. If you have a pool of laptops and they are allocated each day randomly to students, then you don't need it.

Localzuk is correct, if a computer is individually assigned to a student, ie they take it home etc, then that isn't covered by the desktop pack and so you need the student option for the number of students assigned a computer. This is the same for EES and Schools Agreement I believe.
