  1. We are not deemed worthy enough to speak to Ofsted inspectors, so relax, chill out, let the teachers have the stress ;-)

    Monday!!!

Our fileserver, who art on LAN NETSERVER be thy name Thy programmes come Thy commands be done In DOS, and sometimes in WINDOWS Give us this day our daily login And forgive us our hacking As we forgive those who hack in our files Lead us not into corrupt procedures But deliver our email For thine is the CPU, the powersource and the monitor For ever until obsolescence Hey, man...
  3. Yeah, in Scotland they just attach a teat to a bottle of whisky and feed em that from birth ;-)
  4. The System Center stuff might be good to look at in this time.
  5. Thanks, oh and to top it all, the dog ate the breakfast and I had to clean up a bedroom that looked like I'd tried to murder the mrs ;-)
  6. Yes I'm an account holder. I don't normally do Valentines day, but a few years ago now, I thought for once I'll make a nice romantic gesture and make my wife breakfast in bed, you know, full works with a glass of champagne, single rose, etc. Got it all done, really pleased with it sneaked upstairs walked in bedroom and tripped over the dog. All went everywhere, followed by the mrs jumping out of bed, foot straight on the champagne glass. The rest of the morning was spent in A&E.
  7. Yes, better printers = more printing lol! We haven't implemented print management software yet, looking into it. What we have done though is set up access codes for each department on the printer and the departments get the cost per page for their departments printing charged back to them.
  8. @cmd.exe Don't know who you went through for your Ricoh printers, but going direct to Ricoh there are no usage level agreements, just a cost per page and also no minimum copy count.
  9. No chance, with a technician ratio of 1 to 300-600 computers depending if part time staff are in it's just not feasible. I do send a technicina on walkabout once or twice a day if we're not snowed under with urgent jobs, seems to keep them happy.
  10. You can disable the requirement for TPM through group policy.
  11. Bet when he puts it pack together he has a few random screws left but everything will work...
  12. Companies House records search should give you details of who the administrators are, if you contact them they should be able to tell you.
  13. Politicians will spout anything that they feel will win them votes, power or a few extra sly backhanders, religion doesn't come into it and atheist politicians are just as guilty of this as religious politicians, so point still invalid:p
  14. Politicians have no morals, so your point is invalid:getmecoat:
  15. What happens if you have 2 staff doing job share, do you count them both seperately or as 1?
  16. TBH, I've checked all our major software and all apart from SIMS so far we can transfer the licence across at no cost to the school. I've also checked our hardware, same thing. I'd be interested to know if schools with other MIS systems will also be charged by the supplier.
  17. As long as no floaty bits get in the pool, sounds a good idea to me

    Robert Kubica

His hand was partially severed and crushed, the initial surgery was to stop the internal bleeding and reconstruct his hand as he would've lost it if they couldn't repair the blood supply going to it pretty sharpish. He's got further surgery to come to fix his elbox, shoulder and leg.

A safety cage won't do much when an armco barrier goes straight through the car like that though.
  20. Just done some back of fag packet calculations, for the number of projectors we have that would cost us over £5k per year in staff time alone cleaning them every month!
  21. 6 months is probably ok, especially as you've shown dedication by commuting so far to get a job and experience. You just need to be aware with the current economic climate IT jobs in schools are hard to come by, so there no no guarantee you'll find anything nearer after 6 months.
  22. If you can survive with the extra expense and travel time, then go for it. IT jobs are quite hard to come by without experience these days, so grab any opportunity you can.
  23. Just thought, make sure the ownership of the folders and file has restored correctly as well as the permissions.
  24. I presume they are stored as \\Working_Server\Username\Home or Profile Directory? If that is the case, select all the users in an Active Directory OU in the same path, right click, properties and in the profile and home directory field you can use the %USERNAME% variable in the path, so for instance \\Working_Server\%USERNAME%\Home and that will replace %USENAME% with each users username
