Forefront for Exchange sorts these out, which version of Exchange have you got as the Enterprise version includes Forefront for Exchange, the standard you have to licence it seperately.

If you have a high staff count in comparison to the number of machines, then the Schools Agreement is still available which is done on a machine count rather than staff count so may work out cheaper.

Try installing Chromium as the browser, it seems to work a little bit better, or try the Lynx text based browser which is always an interesting experience! I'll have a play with rdp, haven't tried it yet.

What are you trying to do with it? As a desktop replacement then yes it's slow at the moment for running X and you have to be careful how many programs you have open, but it's still quite usable, especially if you overclock it which is perfectly acceptable as long as you don't over-volt it as that voids the warranty. I have mine running at 900Mhz for the CPU and 500Mhz for the memory, perfectly stable. As a device to hack around with it's great and I quite like the fact it's not a speed demon and limited in memory, that adds to the challenge:p Compared to old school stuff I used to use it's a speed demon anyway. Have a play with the console and you'll find it's pretty good, also have a look at some of the XBMC distros as a media centre, they're getting quite impressive now.

You're best using a daughter board like the Gert board or similar. I've got one a Pi Face Digital I/O on back order - Buy Pi-Face DIgital IO Interface for Raspberry Pi, there are a few others about to come on the market as well, so that will drive prices down. I personally don't have the electronics skills to make my own board to do this, or to figure out how to do it safely directly from the Pi, it's a bit of a new adventure for me, trying to recall O Level electronics from 27 years ago is a bit foggy to say the least lol.

We've sometimes been issued with an update for the wrong product which causes the upgrade to fail, so make sure they are sending you the update for the correct model. (No I'm not naming the reseller, well I might if I don't receive a reason to keep quite from them )

I would be looking at getting some fun stuff in for the new ICT curriculum. What about some android/apple/windows tablet/phone type devices to play with programming them? Robot kits, Arduino, XBox/PS3 dev kit, environment monitors.

I would put a bit of space between the heartbeats and Limitless as it makes Limitless very difficult to read.

I 'can' do it, but don't have the time or the right kit. It's alright having drills etc, but what about proper cable testing gear which can run into thousands. You also need to be clued up on H&S, electrical regs and current building regs. We use a proper cabling company who do a cracking job, certify the cable, provide test reports and guarantee the work for 25 years.

The cashback on HP stuff is usually limited to a maximum of 25 claims per model IIRC, so may not be beneficial in this instance, but depends on the cashback deal.

It's also worth looking at the tier 1 manufacturers, with that number they will do you a custom build and you'd be surprised how much the price drops, so worth getting pricing for Lenovo, Dell & HP.

If you are putting Microsoft Windows on them then unless you have a full retail copy of Windows for each machine then yes you do need a Winodws OS on them. OEM licences from your old machines are not transfereable and if you have a schools agreement or EES then that is upgrade only, you need an existing licence to upgrade from. If you're putting Linux or some other OS on, then ignore above:p

Forefront Endpoint although looking similar to MSE has a different, more advanced scan and threat engine, they're not the same product. We find it spot on, cheap, easy to use, lightweight and has very good detection.
