Bit late - sorry not had chance to look today. Restart the Solus3 Deployment Service on the server which stops all jobs running (but leaves them at their current status) and then start a new deployment which should start deploying out. Then it's a matter of going through once the deployment completes and doing redeploys. (This is the exaqct same issue I had and luckily got Capita at 4.58 on Wednesday night).

Deploying the Autumn update was a nightmare this time compared to the ease with which the summer one went out, to the point I phoned up and complained today. In the summer, any machine which was offline, once it came back on the deployment started - this time, this didn't happen on a single machine! My first deployment of the Autumn update stalled on the deploying workstations for some reason, to the point where it didn't even add 2 computers to the Online/Offline list (one of which being our SIMS server) meaning the service had to be restarted, the deployment started again and waited for it to go through. Redeployed to the batch of computers which failed this morning, suffered from the same problem again, some were offline, the deployment stalled and had to be restarted. I didn't have any of these issues with the summer upgrade, the only issue I had which was a pain was that one member of staff had the login screen up when it tried to do the update after coming online and with no redeploy option it was a pain to get it to reinstall. Very disappointed (and fed up) of the latest version of Solus3.

Thanks for the info guys, I've been in touch with a couple of companies now and got prices and all match up, so just need to wait for technology to come up with some money and then hopefully my Prodesktop problems will be gone!

We tell staff to use the Class Checking Sheet here and to either print a copy or save the file somewhere for safe keeping, with a strict warning that once the profiles have gone on to the review stage that if they then want a copy of the reports they have written they will have to go through each individual student and pull out the detail they require. I'm really strict with it now after the first few times we went through it staff came to say they hadn't done it and expected me to do it. A couple I didn't mind, but getting more each time starts to wear thin. I think it would be a great and really useful addition to profiles to be able to print a class set of reports off for a subject in the report format, I'm also pretty sure there is a change request on supportnet for it (I can't remember if I created it or it already existed). I do think that the review profiles area might be the way to go, but not sure of the permissions you'd need to set to be able to do it (I don't think ours does, but it does allow HOD's to view Assessment Marksheets) Edit: Take a look at Change Request Numbers 1011-808531, 1112-1016550, 1112-1016551

I'm 99.999% sure that's how I've got it, I meant to look today but ended up with the return of my unable to login to the RDS server and no response (or very very slow, over an hour) to anything, including reboot or startup, but might have made some progress. Will double check tomorrow.

@TheScarfedOne well I tried and failed miserably in my attempt to do this. I set up my replace policy to be blank (because I wanted to remove all the mandatory profile settings for if I need to log on as an administrator), so removed the apply group policy setting from authenticated users and then added my user and ticked apply group policy and then did gpupdate /force, left it overnight and logged on this morning and it applied all the group policy settings again. GPMC shows when I run a report that it didn't apply the policy because of Access Denied. Can you think of anything obvious I might have missed? Thanks Edit: Well, I've made some progress. If I add the server with the ability to apply the group policy then the Replace policy kicks in to effect, however it then applies to everybody. If I remove the server then it applies to nobocy (presumably the replace part of the group policy). I can't work out how I just get the loopback to apply to users who have apply policy permission though, it seems to be an all or nothing thing for me.

Don't know because I've never looked at mod_proxy before so this is a guess. I think your httpd.conf might need to read like the following: ProxyRequests Off ProxyPreserveHost On Order deny,allow Allow from all ProxyPass /insight/ http://iiserver:123/INSIGHT/ ProxyPassReverse /insight/ http://iiserver:123/INSIGHT/ ProxyPass /TestRP/ http://iiserver:124/TestRP/ ProxyPassReverse /TestRP/ http://iiserver:124/TestRP/ Order allow,deny Allow from all a trailing / on the url that you are proxying. Presumably what is happening is you are navigating to mywebsite.com/insight and it apache is seeing it as the root, so when the url is returned, it then looks for the url on the local apache server rather then proxying it. Could be completely off though (as I say, I've never used it).

I think you need to look at the Solus updates as incremental revisions across the year, so the Spring release is the main release, the Summer is the first incremental release and the Autumn is the second incremental release. I'm interested to see whether come next Spring update, Solus will do a really neat tidy up routine and remove all the previous download packages upon successful deployment of the Spring update, or the server is just to sit and gather update after update for ever more. I know to deploy the Summer release it tried to deploy the Spring release first, which should basically try to deploy it, see it's installed and then move on to the next part. If it's failing at one of these earlier parts then that's probably why you are getting the Tolerance not met.

Evening Just getting this straight in my head before attempting it. We no longer use FMS in school and stopped using it in the summer. My intention is to move FMS to a standalone virtual machine so that if (when) it's needed it can be booted up and used that way. To remove the FMS database of our current server, presumably all I need to do is detach the database and stop the backup script from running. No additional steps required? Cheers

The middle one you posted, GPClient taking up to 1 hour, is actually my thread (and my reply saying that I didn't bother installing the hotfix because it made no difference to the other guy). I reinstated my team last week (having had it running off a single card since the last time it played up) and haven't had any more issues as of yet.

RE: The Solus 3 Agent saying it's offline - does it show it is still on the previous version of the agent? I had this and in the end hammered the check status every 30 seconds so that it kept it online long enough to initiate the download of the update and the installation task. Was really strange because some agents updated automatically when they were switched on and connected to the server, others sat there and just went offline after getting a command to do something with the heartbeat to a capita url which they failed to do.

Yup, we did the Solus 3 update but haven't done the autumn upgrade yet - no problems here. Does the deployment start and fail on one part (updating the database for example?) or just not start at all?

Well I get an Autumn SIMS Database update yesterday, still waiting for the actual SIMS update though.

Your thread has actually made me wonder something though. Once you move over to Solus 3, how do you do a satalite installation of NovaT6 with the latest version (since the setups folder no longer gets updated)?

I've been asked to look into Solidworks since it seems to be the latest big thing to use in technology and the main replacement for Prodesktop (which has done my head in recently with various random error messages when nothing has changed!), I was wondering how are people licencing it and where from? Whenever you do an export from T6 to SIMS it always asks for your username/password here, presumably from a security point of view and to prevent accidental transfers?(or are you saying it doesn't happen on any other computer?)

Didn't think it seemed right, but the guy I spoke to went and checked with someone else and they both came back and said that 3.4.64 was the latest version. Will hope @PhillNeal checks the thread and replies and I'll phone helpdesk back again.....

If it was me, I'd backup the system state of any server that was being backed up, rightly or wrongly, I just think if I've got to think about trying to recover from a major problem with a DC, especially the Forest Root which holds all the roles, if I can just restore one backup without having to try and rebuild from another server then it would be so much easier. I know you can commision from another servers backup of system state and doing non-authorative restores will rebuild the system state from another domain controller anyway, but having that backup to hand should the worse come it would be worth the extra little duplicate.
