What I would do is have three tables (split over multiple sheets if you prefer). A table showing which pupils received which support, but instead of using an "x" to identify them use a number; this method allows for multiple doses of the same support. A table showing the cost of each support option A table showing the multiple of cost by number of support episodes per pupil By using absolute cell references to reference the cost (e.g. $A$2) you only need to build the first line and them copy it for each subsequent pupil.

If you're taking pictures in Portrait mode the camera will often try to soften the background because this looks good for a portrait. Low light conditions will enhance this effect. Try taking the pictures using landscape mode which will make the camera get the best depth of field and have more of the picture in focus.

We operate only 4 periods per day, each of 75 minutes. Reg P1 P2 Break P3 Lunch P4 We took out PM registration about 18 months ago and use P4 to cover the PM session mark. This cuts down on the between periods larking about, it also means school finishes at 1510 leaving time for meetings etc When I first started here the mornings used to drag as there are three hours between my start time and brew time, but then the afternoons flew by.

Well, after an afternoon spent putting our heads together we *think* we understand what has happened and we *think* we have a fix but we are still completely in the dark as to how what is actually happening is happening. 1 - We *think* that amendments made prior to and after Christmas have become "temporally twisted", this is causing a large number of temporal locks to appear whenever we create a maintenance dataset. 2 - We *think* our only way out of this is to generate a new construction dataset. 3 - We still can't get our heads around the fact that the (correct) timetables in SIMS are not the same as the timetables and class lists in Nova-T6; indeed, we have one teacher who no longer exists in NT6 happily taking registers using SIMS!

Thanks for all the suggestions, but so far all attempts to resolve this have flummoxed me. We've now resorted to bringing in outside help - when this gets resolved I'll let you all know.

@Cache, I hadn't thought of Course Manager but when I looked in there I realized a) we don't set course supervisors and b) this will only affect KS4 and post-16 classes and we're having the problem across all year groups.

We took on Go4Schools three years ago as a tool for producing reports, at which it is very good, but it does much more than that. As the software has developed, and we have learned how to use it, it has become an invaluable tool for forecasting and analysis. It is very flexible and allows analysis by user defined attributes that other systems do not. It also imports from SIMS automatically, but there is no write-back function. We have two problems with Go4Schools:- - firstly getting our staff to use it to its full potential, there is a reluctance to share data and an inhibition to using the parental access side of things. We can work on this. - secondly, the attitude of Go4Schools themselves. They have always developed the application but these days it seems they are trying to be too clever and introduce new features before they are ready. The quality of their support has also taken nosedive in recent months with an attitude of "it must be you" prevailing. All-in-all it is a very capable package but getting the best out of it needs a strong commitment from senior staff and a strong will to argue the toss with their support team.

We're having a problem with the data SIMS is providing to an external system. This external system uses the Staff Group feature of SIMS, the problem is that currently SIMS is not showing these correctly following some extensive timetable shuffling. I can see the groups associated with a teacher by looking in the staff record and clicking on the Staff Groups link. However, I cannot see how these associations are made and I cannot seem to be able to amend them in any way. I assume (perhaps wrongly) that these group associations are generated from the timetable and, therefore, are something to do with NovaT6. But my knowledge of Nova is very weak so I have no idea if this is correct and, if it is, what to do about it. If anyone can shed any light on this matter it would be extremely helpful.

@CAM - yes, it is a different system and you need a separate account setting up. Also note that the admin account does not see the data, it's just to manage school level accounts, so you will probably need two accounts. We subscribe through the LA so they sorted out our first school admin account.

In D33 type =D12*C12 and this will give you the total value of soup sold on Monday. If you change this formula to be =(D12*C12)+(D13*C13) you will get the total value of soup and sandwiches sold om Monday. Continue adding to the formula so you end up with all the items and a formula that looks like :- =(D12*C12)+(D13*C13)+............+(D32*C32) You will need to add the bits to replace +.............+, you'll learn by doing it! Once you've done one column the rest should be easier to understand.

You will need to put the unit prices of each item in somewhere, but this need not be on a different sheet - just add another column after the item name to hold it. Each of the daily cells can then hold the number of sales of each item; in your "daily total" box you then construct the formula along the lines =(number sales item1 * unit price item1)+(number sales item2 * unit price item2)+....... The weekly totals work in a similar way. You could put the unit price into your formula, but having them listed somewhere makes changing your prices easier!

I would do this with a pivot table, used the "details" column as the rows in the table and put the date in the values field. You can then change the values field to show the maximum value only and format it to date format.
