I've nipped up the road to the original school that had the problem 2 months ago and it works fine I'm wondering if its some sort of invisible netfiltering going on - gonna go back to orig school and disable all filtering and see what happens Simon

Another day, another set of toys (Sorry I mean IPads) in primary education! Right, Recently I converted 2 old w2k3 servers into VMWare V5 machines using VMConvertor and they deployed them onto new W2k8 servers running VMPlayer On my other exisiting W2k3 machines, I simply used to run VMServer V1 or V2 but AFACT I can no longer get a free VMWare server software so that's how I ended up on VMplayer. Now VMplayer isn't cutting it as it doesn't autorestart after mains failures and needs manual intervention so I need something else. I tried installing the W2k8 hypervisor role but it said it couldn't co-exist with VMplayer so I had to abandon that. So, I don't really care what VM software I'm using but I have 2 schools with VMWare V5 machines that I'd need to migrate to new setup. Could I have some recommendations as to what path to take please regards Simon

Get a mains remote controled switch and then just break into the remote controller and use your RPi to imiate pressing buttons on the remote or use this method of directly controlling 433Mhz ones Safe Automated Mains Sockets (I'd just go with hacking into a remote myself - not tried it but it can't be that hard as long as your buffer the RPi from the remote (my favourite chip to do this is the ULN2003 - 37p from CPC ) Tons of stuff on the forum to do remote control over the web I'd thought Raspberry Pi • Index page Nice little project Simon

mm - just looked at Dropxbox site and they've released a new version 2 days ago I've downloaded 1.6.14 and it all works again So off to tell Mr Dropbox that he has a little bug somewhere in the new version Simon

On my home machine (XP) - Dropbox has stopped working and won't re-install (says install aborted after 50 %) I've googled but no solution offered is working Anyone else had this and what did you do to fix it? Simon PS Dropbox is my life both for sharing tech stuff between my school servers so this is a BIG issue for me
