  1. Is there any way of automating the installation of Arduino drivers so that if a computer has them installed - the first time an Arduino is plugged in - it'll will automagically find them Or will I have to manually install them on one type of machine and then re-image that across a suite? Simon FOr ref Arduino - Windows
  2. For the second time, I've been caught out installing a new admin machine and forgetting we don't have dhcp servers on little admin networks. The making to S: drive works (ipv6 magic I'm told) but the alarm bells start to off when the internet doesn't work even though I've put the proxy settings in Simon

  7. Back at home -don't need the drive - I can just run the install from the network - I just decided it was eaiser to to use it for 1 machine I can easi;y get away with it not working on pupil mahcines - I haven't had CD/DVD drives on my netbooks for years - its jsut very peculiar and annoying ! Simon
  8. Its got more peculiar - I checked another one of the same laptops - no DVD drive either!!! All I've done is my normal start the PC up and get it to working state where I can run my WPKG installers to add in all my software (which is just all normal education stuff) Going to get a new one out of the box and see what happens with that one. For info - the MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ8E1 is showing up in device manager with a yellow ! mark
  9. Come to add in Office 2010 from Cd onto a brand new laptop ..computer doesn't think it has a CD drive 15 years since I last saw a fault like this Simon
  10. That looks like a catch 22 - need a working server to test that another server is up/down This is for single server sites - something that is run on startup to signal that an event has happened Simon
  11. You have to ask why the Daily Mail hasn't run such an article yet? Simon
  12. Can anyone recommend a free tool to monitor if a server (w2k3 and w2k8) has restarted itself following a mains failure and send me an alert via email or SMS? Simon
  13. Ta - I got through to someone not in a school (they couldn't hear me though) but I think most schools filtering will do it in Simon
  14. Win95???? I skipped that one - went straight from WfWG 3.11 to Win98SE Simon Although I did make a Win95 VM for a senior citizen on his new Win7 machines so he could run his old programs
  15. THanks Chris - at least its not me Simon

Having a mare Ofsted Some youtube videos that sometimes work are sometimes not working (obvioulsy they work in the morning when we test them - then fail in lesson time) Do I need to whitelists more that this http://www.youtube.com http://youtu.be http://youtu.be/0S358StIt94 http://youtube.com https://www.youtube.com https://youtu.be https://youtu.be/0S358StIt94 https://youtube.com Simon Force wasn't with me today

  18. Ancient history for me now I'm afraid ,just lived with the issues and as the ruckus APS die I replace them with unifi as my controller is no longer spotted supported I didn't have a good experience with them Simon
  19. At the moment the off line version of Scratch 2 is experimental so even if you got it working it could be changed over night. If you follow the threads in the main scratch forum then there are some ideas on how to get it going Simon
  20. I've a new head at one of my old schools who wants to ditch my (boo-hoo) old Joomla site and get one a bit easier to use. I'm fine with this as its one of my old schools and I reckon Wordpress is probably the easiest best way for a primary to go with nowadays and just looking for some recommendations from people who use em please or webfirms touting for business - I'm not fussy Must come with some decent video hosting Simon
  21. its a well known fact that any thing like a UPS or a backup generator WILL fail when you want to use it. Its the count-proof of quantum indeterminate state theory - it looks as if its working - if tested (ie. routine maintenance) then it will work but absolutely guaranteed to fail when actually needed. Simon
  22. Don't reboot your dhcp server whilst simultaneously trying to upgrade an ipad to Ios7 as it hangs looking for IP address via WiFi
  23. Primary are only supposed to have 10Mbps so i'd keep quiet Simon
