Using default twitter app on pads but now you mention it, in using hootsuite app on droid and web based hootsuite on PC(which is bound too work of course) I'll try different ipad app. Filtering is via CLEO, I can control URLs but not ports Simon

No problem with images as this is to allow teachers to tweet out from Ipads/pods (Primary schools) I'll add in that url but I'm not hopeful as the basic ipad twitter app is not connecting at all but like I say 'droids and PCs are fine Simon

we are using twitter in my schools to post short articles (take a pic - add a few words - tweeet - job done) but for some reason this is not working on idevices but fine on 'droids and PCs Is there some i-specific more urls than I need to unblock to get it working on idevices? Simon

Well, if they want hack through the county firewall and remote into a compromised XP netbook and steel a Y6 animation then I'll have to live with the consequences Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't expect others to do what I do but I think I could safely say that I am the 6th Dan in the art of not following the normal network/computer management path. Even I was suprised to find IE6 on the netbook But non-one has come to me with a problem with them (apart from the white screen on NC10 death hinge fault) for several years and they are in use daily Primary kids don't go near bad stuff and if they do - they are soon caught and stopped Simon

Experience of the pupils using these for past 5 years would seem to contradict that I don't run domains so don't have WSUS I realise that I am on the wing on this issue but it has worked (mainly) for me Simon

I was with the PS XP SP1 Just found one set of netbooks still running IE6 ! I am a great believer in leaving well alone as I believe that it less work for me overall to leave well alone than to constantly "update" and deal with problems that sometimes causes. To be fair - I've had a couple of nasty virus infections in the 15 years I've been doing this but I think I've won overall I think most of my users use Chrome now so they won't have noticed. These are a batch of Samsung NC10s (probably 6 years old ) on their last legs anyway - updating to latest state will probably end up finally crippling them (1G of memory is iffy even for XP nowadays) But they need to be replaced anyway now but on the off chance (100% certainty more like it) that the school don't fork out for new ones in May - I thought I'd bring them down to speed between now and then - get one "updated" and then copy image across to the others Simon

Well I'm up to com 37 on my home xp machine . That "feature" is worked around quite easy as when pupils try and upload it will offer to switch to the working com port I find
