  1. We have the same problem with another brand. All parts were replaced, essentially a new PC. Unplug everything inc power, try turning it on (without power) wait around 5 seconds and then plug power back in and turn on. If it boots then great, but each time it fails to boot after this run through the same process but add each peripheral back 1 by 1 to narrow down a device eg mouse, keyboard, monitor.
  2. The cost difference isn't very much so you may as go with the 7372.
  3. The above and do not get jokes off the internet!
  4. and for migration later when the hardware needs replacing.

Are yours the NT310? I got an eval last week and I wasn't that impressed with the quality, seems quite flimsy plastic.
  7. You still running NT then...
  8. What's a PDC?

    Stone laptops

I am looking for a lot of laptops this year. In the past we have gone for HPs but I have had a look at the Stone laptops. Have any of you bought and used them in school and how did you find them? Were they robust enough?
  10. Are there still leases in DHCP?
  11. Do you have reverse lookup zones set up?
  12. The good thing about the CLI you can do several ports in 1 command. No repetitive clicking!
  13. We currently use a piece of software Autoshare on our 2003 server to set the folder share and security permission automatically. When we add the folder to the server (via script) Autoshare comes along and sets the share properties and ntfs permissions automatically. I want to upgrade our file servers to 2008 or 2012 but Autoshare is no longer supported. What other solutions are there available for this? Thanks
  14. A Barracuda spam firewall. We find it very effective and very little spam gets through.
  15. I currently have an evaluation Samsung XE500T1C. It has the keyboard with it and I find its great having both options. Difference between this and a new laptop is around £100 more for a lower spec device but its smaller and easier for kids to carry around.
  16. Great, thanks for the clarification. My thinking is to have the EES licence and install it on the school PCs. Then with the Office 365 licence staff and students can run the web version from home and store to the cloud if need be.
  17. Can I have the free Office 365 plan and also use EES? I can only find details for the states regarding this. I take it if I use the paid plan for staff I can only install the desktop version of Office on PCs that are only accessible for staff?
  18. Unfortunately on both Apple and Android devices you have to set the wpad file manually, infact on an Android phone I don't think there is an automatic option.
  19. Is it possible to have it free for students (Plan A2) and Plan A3 for staff? Or is it one or the other?
  20. Ouch, my current EES for office is around £4k per annum. If I were to go with Office 365 Plan A3 it would be £25k. I was hoping it would save money!
  21. Thanks for this. So as it stands with the EES licence I pay per FTE. In Office 365 I pay per student AND per member of staff? Eg 100 students at £1.90pm + 10 staff at £3.40pm so a total of £224pm/£2688pa?
  22. Thanks, I have the licencing for the servers covered seperately along with the workstation OS licence. The Office 365 would be purely for Office and possibly email and anything else that comes free with the various plans ie cloud storage.
  23. Sorry, I wasn't clear. I don't want to use the EES licencing model. I would prefer to use the new Office 365 model.
  24. Hi, We currently have a EES licence for Office which is set to expire in the next couple of months. We don't use exchange but would like to if it completely covers everything we get out of our current mail server software (Mdaemon) I would like to know what Office 365 plans I require, the procedure to move across from EES to the new licencing and prices. I have tried speaking to our current software supplier and Microsoft's Education Business Manager but not getting very far with either. Many thanks.
