  1. If it was the mouse then it would also be apparent on the monitor. I've seen the cursor spike with a hair on the optical sensor. The OP isn't clear what is spiking. Is it the mouse cursor, does it happen when the surface is touched or the mouse is clicked?, is whole screen suggesting a Video/projector issue?
  2. iTALC - use the demo feature. iTALC

    Zoostorm?

Thanks for the feedback, Definately worth trying out.
  4. It can, but I would argue not in this context. If that was the inferance we would all be staff and there would be no need for the distinction. It does seem that the teaching professionals are keen to put some distance between them selves and others in school, irrespective of the merits of the individuals involved. The only thing that get you in the club is QTS, not a degree, masters, PHD or just plain competance.
  5. With all that said, it didn't stop me marrying one... Thankfully teachers of that ilk are getting fewer as they retire. It does tend to be the ones of a certain age, and then if I am fair, only a small percentage of those. But Oh My do they wind me up! /OffSoapBox

    Zoostorm?

6 months ago I hadn't heard of them. The prices seem good for desktops and tablets. I see that they also re-badge Clevo chassis laptops (same as the RM Notebook 210 and others, Fujitsu LCD panels etc). Does anyone have any experince of them before we consider buying from them? Good or bad. Particularly interested in aftersales as they only offer RTB warranties which looks like it could prove expensive. They only cover the the shipping 30 days after purchase and won't take your diagnosis over the phone. Dell and others will atleast go through it with you on the phone and then send the part to fit yourself.
  7. Wired 7 days, There is little change. Wireless 12 hours. The ip is retuned to the pool everynight but your BYODs are good for that day.
  8. You could look at VLC, free streaming to all computers. If you want to take control of the computer and force playback, you'll need more. We use RM Tutor, which won't be available in the US as a stand alone peice of software but I beleive it is just NetSupport School re-badged. NetSupport School - Classroom Management Software
  9. And there in lies the Problem. I REFUSED to be called "Associate Staff"! I joined the board of governors so I could get that term removed from the school vocabulary! Associate - Connected to; Not a full member of; a person with limited or subordinate membership of an organization. I am every bit a member of the school staff, to say otherwise is just insulting. We had a science tech with a PHD, The highest quaifiied person in the whole school talked down to and basically bullied by *#&$s who think that a PGCE makes them God... I'm sure that there is a module in teacher training called "Advanced condesention - QTS and your right to superiority".
  10. But after you try any other drive than b: right....
  11. We have Natinwide Flexaccount plus, £10/month includes - Worldwide travel insurance, mobile phone insurance, breakdown cover and extended warranty. It's a no-brainer.
  12. Try mapping the same share to a drive other than B:\. B: was originally reserved for removable drives (a second floppy!, showing my age). It certainly used to behave differently to c: and above. If I am honest, I don't think I have used b:\ for over 15 years so they may have changed things since Windows 95. Anyway, it's very easy to test. Map the second drive letter to the same share, if one works and the other doesn't sorted. If not then you've only lost 10 minute of time...
  13. I didn't see the point of it until I realised that it also sets up and syncs accounts on other cloud services too. Not just Office 365 or Google Docs. We use classroom monitor, Education city, espresso and probably one or two more that the teachers haven't told me about. Full version ordered and I'm looking forward to see how it ties in with existing subscritions. Will probably take a look at RM Books too.
  14. The buisness to buisness has resellers/Wholesalers in mind. The school is a consumer. If the goods are faulty or not fit for a stated purpose the sale of goods act still applies. It is the reponsibility of the vendor. With that said, all the vendor ends up doing as acting a a go-between. It often easier to go straight to the manufaturer.
  15. Try kidblog.org, Free, designed for school, and the teachers can control everything so most importantly safe. Access can also be given to parents etc.
  16. OK then the "two older ones" may be the clue here. Are you replaceing your forest root server? Time Master is a FSMO role. Your old may not have let go yet. You'll need to re-establish the Time Master role using the w32tm command. This may help Time configuration in a Windows Domain - MWeber's Blog.
  17. Is the Windows Time service started on all DCs?
  18. wmiprvse.exe is a host service for Devs to plug in monitoring modules. You might be closing down any one of a number of features by disabling it. Make sure you have a good backup, or image before tinkering. With that said it also makes it an ideal candiate for viruses and malware use Security Task Manager - Windows 8, 7, XP process viewer to check it out.
  19. Had a similar problem, the files were also being locked for backup too. Running a scandisk on the volume fixed it.
