the subnet mask is ok on both servers. one point we had to change the use the following DNS server addresses in IP4 to an address that LGFL provided us, they are our network suppliers. I just noticed that this address is only changed on server 1. On server 2 is 127.0.0.1 which point back to itself I believe. could this be the problem?

Thanks for your reply. I checked it and they seem to be ok although on server 2 where msdcs.servername the ip address was not resolved so I typed in server2's ip address. Yes they both dns servers.

Morning guys I’m having problems with 2 servers not ‘seeing each other’ on the network.I’m pretty sure it is a permission problem. So here is what I have tried. When I try to add permission to a folder on server1 for server2 I can change the location to server 2 but when I click on check names for the administrator account it kinder crush and then just says the object cannot be found. These servers probably haven’t been setup properly but not sure where to start fixing it. What I have just described happens on both servers. Server 1: curriculum server, windows server 2008 R2 Server 2: admin server, windows server 2012 R2 Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

Thanks I have an intenso drive I might try that tomorrow. Thanks for the card. quite cheap school can't complain about this expense if it comes to it:) Would this fit into my server though? I guess I have to check that before buying!

Thanks for your reply. Do you mean to get a new card? I guess I would have the right driver then.

Hi guys. I’m havingproblems with an HP ProLiant ML350 G6 server that has Windows Server 2008 R2installed. Basicallythe Windows server backup keeps failing to back up the server. It used to workthen started to play up until I rebooted. After it worked for about 2 weeksbefore I had to reboot the server again but recently I started the backup andafter backing up the C drive it just failed. It could not locate the H drivewhich was a USB drive plugged into the server. After trying different usbsockets on the server and trying different USB drives I always get the sameproblem. Now thesituation is so bad that if I plug in a usb drive it start freezing crushingthe server to a point that I have to reboot the server. After rebooting theserver everything is fine as long as the usb drive is not plugged in. So I’mpretty sure that one of the USB driver out of date. When I try to update the USBdrivers in the device manager it just says that they are all up to date. I found a website where I downloaded HP SmartUpdate Manager. That looked promising, found loads of drivers but when I triedto install them it always fail after 5% installation. Weird. I haveattached a pic about the USB drivers that I have on this server. Any helpwould be much appreciated! J

Users cannot print after server update.
dibekem replied to dibekem's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
I fixed it. My god! Yes unfortunately I thought let updated everything while no one using it. So yes I did the optional update. I only found one printer that had an update but thats failed. Anyway what Ive done is deleted a .dll file. If you check my attachment one of them has a hp6bsy2917.....dll file. After deleting that from the local pc and restart the pc the problem is gone[emoji28] I think as you said one of the printer got updated and messed up the local spooler. I tried the printer isolation as well but i guess this dll is already on the computer. Now is there a way of getting rid of this dll quickly? [emoji4] -

nope it stops the spooler on the admin too. I found a printer that I thought was the one causing all this but after removing that printer from the servers I still having issues. Im getting the following errors (see attachments) Something stopping the printer spooler at the workstation. Wish I have never updated the server. -
Users cannot print after server update.

We only have one server which is running on Windows Server 2008 R2. I had to run windows server update over the weekend as the server needs to be up to date by the end of March. I did the additional updates to. I just checked the event viewer. We have couple of Hp laserjet 500. Color m551 printers and the driver install is failed on the local machine. When I try to update the driver the spooler stops. Hence it cant install the driver. -
Hi guys. I just updated the server and users cannot print. When I check there is no printer installed on users account and when I try to add a printer it says the local spooler is not running. Check and its true. Restarted but still cant print. If i log in as system admin I can print. Also weirdly some teachers do print from their classrooms. The server running on 2008 R2 Im confused[emoji51][emoji51][emoji51]

Thanks all the replies! I thought the issue was with the server backup program or something like that. I know the printers start 'jamming' but the issue was more like server slowing down and unable to use everything on it, not just the printers. I get that one issue could cause other problems so it might be the printer drivers, still I find it odd to have the same issue in two different schools. Have to say that they both have different printers as well.

Hi guys. I have two different schools where we have a server 2008 R2 server installed and for a while now I have to keep restarting the server about every 2-3 weeks. I have been trying to look in to event viewer to see what is going on but haven't had much luck but Im 99% that it is to do with Windows Server Backup program. We use this program to backup the server daily. It used to work okay but for the last two months when ever the server slows down I find that the daily backup failed for at least 3days. The symptoms are the followings: Cannot use RDC to remote in to the server. It just goes to a black screen. Users print and it comes out about 10 minutes later and eventually people just can't print at all. When I physically go to the server I cannot log in the screen freezes and I just have to do the hard reset pushing and holding the power button for 10sec. The thing is that both servers are having the same issues. One is an HP server the other isn't. So can't be that. We use usb external drives for the backup. Both servers have different type of usb device. So can't blame that either. Could it be a bug on the Windows server backup program? One point we thought the servers are might be out of date so we updated both servers. Any of you guys having similar issues? Thanks [emoji4]

Hi Jessica. Since I updated the Intel graphics 4600 in the device manager the problem seems to stop. Hope this helps!

Hey Thanks for the program. Will check it out. I haven't been in school much, tonsilitis:( Our guy did a manual clean install on each of these pcs. Haven't got any program for image deployment, usually they come with Win 7, but I guess not anymore:) Thanks for the posts

Thanks guys. I have just checked all the drivers for update and the display adaptors ( Intel graphics 4600 ) was in fact out of date. Hopefully this will fix the issue. Time will tell. I haven't choose these machines I'm only installing them;) When I wrote downgrade I actually meant we wipe them and installed Win 7 Pro so I think its a clean install. Cheers Im only

Thanks. We got 32 of these machines and so far I've seen it on 3 machines. They came with windows 8 and we downgraded them to Windows 7 Pro. We used the cd that they supplied to downgrade them. Does the dmp file mention the USB 3 issue? we do have usb 3 but at the back of the machine and we don't use them. Thanks

Hi Guys. I'm getting the blue death screen on a brand new zoomstorm i5 machine and not sure why. Any of you know how to read the dmp file? I have attached the dmp file to this post. Thank youBlueDeathScreen.zip

Hi guys. Our school is running out of IP addresses. Currently we have 254 IP addresses. Our server runs on Windows Server 2008. I requested a bigger range of IP addresses from our network provider. They told me that they have changed the subnet mask from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.254.0 and now we have 510 IP addresses providing I configure our end. Does IpV4 supports that amount of addresses or do I have to change to IpV6? I have never done this before and I just wonder how to do it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Should I use windows 10 in a primary school's ICT Suite?
dibekem replied to dibekem's topic in Windows 10
Hi guys. Thanks very much for all your responses. We decided to stick to Windows 7 for now. Its more solid and less problems. I do like Windows 10 but this is a different environment and not sure I want to add more problems to my ever growing list of problems. [emoji4] Thanks [emoji5]️ -
Good morning all. We are about to replace all the computers in an ICT Suite in a primary school. Currently we have a windows server 2008 and most of the computers are running on Windows 7 pro. We have some Windows 8 laptops that are a nightmare. The computers that we have bought for the ICT Suite are comes with Windows 8.1 pro which I definitely not intend to keep. (start menu, metro etc..) The plan was to downgrade them to Windows 7 Pro. But I wonder if it would be better to go forward and upgrade them to Windows 10?! Any of you guys using Windows 10 in a school environment and are there any problems that I should be aware of? The students are all have a mandatory profile which I have created on a windows 7 PC. Will that work okay on a Windows 10 PC? Teachers and office staff are on roaming profiles. I'm going to join a windows 10 PC to the network today, but I thought I post this just in case someone have some experience about this. Thank you in advance
