I probably will do wpad as well then if it’s that easy. I did think of the pac being hosted externally and always available. This is for multiple sites so could very easily create rules based on IP range

That’s the thing, I can see the setting applying but the image just doesn’t load. Might try a different format and see if that helps

We have an old CC4 system which is due to be replaced soon. I am trying to deploy a background image to users. It appears to work as in the path of the image is being set but the users only get a solid background colour. If I go into Personalise I can see the correct image there (stored locally on c:) but it does not load. Nor is it possible to change to a different image. Anyone know of a solution to this?

If you specific a PAC file for the proxy and that pac file isn’t reachable, what happens? Does the internet just not work or does it just send data direct. We are looking at PAC files and are hoping to set them on teacher laptops but wondered what would happen when they go home.

That’s what I did in the end. Although Robocopy doesn’t do the re-sharing does it? I just used a net share command

I can, it doesn’t even have to be a DC. But the point is where is the best to put it for performance and reliability

Firstly, School Broadband have already passed on their thoughts on this but wanted to see what others think. We have 12 schools connected as a single domain. All schools will be on a VPLS and we have a VPN from each school to Azure where a DC resides. For those that don’t know, SB/Netsweeper require an authentication portal to be installed on a server in the domain. Most schools will have this on their DC as a very lightweight program. A DNS entry is then created for authportal to point to the IP the portal is configured on. The portal is used to authenticate windows machines into Netsweeper. As we are one domain we can’t have a authportal in each school and configure DNS to point to each server. So I have be looking at the solution: Option 1 - setup a server for authportal and put in one of the schools. No school acts as a datacenter per say, but some have better internet connections than others Option 2 - Put it on the server in Azure. The only cons of each are that it the authportal is not reachable the machines will not authenticate to the Internet. That is why the Azure solution seems better. However, how much traffic is generated by the authentication process as we will be paying for data out of Azure. I would welcome peoples opions

Only gotcha we had which we figure before we even went to install was the need for the drives to be HBA and not go through any raid controller. Don’t even think you can bodge it and put the RAID in pass-thru or JBOD because Windows will always see it as RAID and not use those disks

Is no one looking at Storage Spaces Direct? Just setting up S2D cluster at a customer this weekend. It seems a very good solution

Both InTune and SCCM can be licensed based on Staff numbers so it can work out very cheap. For example, one school I work in has 50 staff but 500 devices. It’s only going to cost them circa £300 per year to have them all setup in InTune

I told Google that we could not provide that. In the end we added a .sch.uk domain to the setup even though we don’t use it for anything within google

I saw the HyperV load balance option. So with that would it be best for one team of 6 NICs as a virtual adaptor or a team of 4 NICs as a virtual adaptor, and the other 2 NICs in their own team only available to the physical host?

Firstly, there are no VLANs and the switches are not stacked although they are Layer2 so we do have access to the management features. I have servers with 6x 1GB NICs and am looking at best way to Team them to get best performance. The server will host virtual machines. My thinking is I either team up all 6 in one team, or create 3 teams of 2 nics. With either tram I will ensure that the connections go to different switches. Is there a best method for this? I could look at LACP but not sure if this works when the switches are not stacked? Second question - I have 2x 10GB NIC for Storage Spaces Direct. These are connected between two servers with no switch. Is there a best setting for teaming these together to give me 20GB?
