Leasing is the way forward for schools who do not have a capital pot to draw on. It allows the school to buy the latest kit and refresh over 3 years thus ensuring it does not get outdated. In an ideal world we would have a good replacement plan, you do x number of pc/laptops and projectors and you have a good rolling program. But the way education funding has changed some schools have been caught out. i know in Primary schools there used to be a myriad of refresh, pfi , initiatives. These have no all but disappeared. The schools now need to budget a lot more carefully as despite government assurances education funding is reducing. In Agibsons case he really has no choice but to go down the operating lease route. The equipment is needed in the classrooms to ensure Teaching and Learning is there. Like other posters have said, it is governed by DfE guidelines so there is less chance schools are going to get fleeced (it does still happen!!) To take a positive if you pick the right route you can get new kit every few years. Also the schools knows that they must budget for that set amount every year. (otherwise the lease company will be banging on the door!) This means that when budgets are tight the business manager cannot cut ICT budget

i am sure i read somewhere that if you got the key from the windows 7 machines you can input that in to activate. i have never done it so would be keen to see if it works. might need to use one of these key finders before you image the other 4 Activation in Windows 10 - Windows Help During the free upgrade, you can use a valid Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 product key to activate Windows 10(Version 1511 or higher). The following types of product keys are supported: Product keys included in the packaging or the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) attached to your PC that came installed with Windows. Product keys included in the confirmation email that you received after buying Windows from an online retailer. Product keys included in the box that the Windows DVD came in. Product keys that you bought using Windows Anytime Upgrade or Get Genuine Windows. If you bought a Windows 8.1 Pro Pack product key, you can use it to activate Windows 10 Pro. [h=3]Note[/h] Some Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1product keys can’t be used to activate Windows 10, such as product keys for volume licensing, including Generic Volume Licensing Keys (GVLK) and Multiple Activation Keys (MAK), and Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 8 Enterprise and Windows 8.1 Enterprise. To see if your device is running Windows 10 Version 1511 or higher, select the Start http://res1.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/6.4/main/851aefc6-d9e7-41b6-a160-2a5e45499b33_17.png button, then select Settings > System> About, and make sure that Version shows 1511 or higher. To use your Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 product key to activate Windows 10: Select the Start http://res1.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/6.4/main/851aefc6-d9e7-41b6-a160-2a5e45499b33_17.png button, then select Settings > Update & security > Activation. Select Change product key, then enter the 25-character product key. After Windows 10 has been activated, a digital entitlement will be given to your device based on the product key that you entered. This means that you’ll no longer need to enter a product key to activate Windows 10 on this device. On some devices that came pre-installed with Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, the product key is provisioned in the device firmware. On these devices, the product key will be verified during setup, and then the appropriate edition of Windows 10will be installed.

Use of personal devices for photographing children - Safeguarding risk
Chrisbf1 replied to elsiegee40's topic in e-Safety
Taking this one stage further, does everyone have a policy for where photo's are then stored. Trying to introduce a policy of all photos being stored on a network photos drive and never in the 'my documents area'. -

OVS-ES "organization-wide" clarification
Chrisbf1 replied to michaelpau's topic in Licensing Questions
our reseller has defined qualifying staff as those that work over 5 hours a week and access a computer. Thus you can exclude domestic and caretaking staff as this probably does not form part of their core role. -
So we have one of these in our hall. The image has started to go really dim, and I am wondering whether to buy a new bulb which will be around £160. or should I see if I can find the money and replace the unit. Anyone any ideas,

i used to have really bad Fuij wireless problems, but then some experimenting and i now do not get the latest drivers from their website but use the intel drive update utility. This seems to pick up later drivers and solves the wireless dropout. Their is a problem on some models with the touchpad driver, i spoke to someone at Fuji and off the record they told me they did their testing on a Windows 8 machine and then rolled out to Windows 7. it is now fixed supposedly

Genee G-Touch Interactive Touchscreens / Televisions
Chrisbf1 replied to abers's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
i have seen the genee touch in action at BETT, wasn't that impressed. Having looked at them all I liked the CTOUCH and it had a seven year warranty. But I have never seen one in a real class situation. Will the teachers be ok with the move away from Notebook -
so Windows 10 is going to be a pain to image without an ees agreement. I thought upgrade one machine , take an image and then push that image out to others. But no you need to upgrade each machine to Windows 10 so that it can pick up its free windows 10 code. So much for supporting customers Microsoft essentially an inplace install I get they need to protect revenue but there must b another way that is a bit quicker!

Chrisbf1 replied to cricka15's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
make sure you take the photo's off before you unsupervise. Also are they connecting them upto XP machines. There seems to be a blip with XP requiring the latest iTunes version in order to connect and take photos off -
but presumably you could install 8.1 pro as my school is an EES school
