I'm afraid not, I currently recommend you deploy the latest release anyway and upgrade when the time comes.

Asterisk Dial Plan - force insert of prefix
powdarrmonkey replied to localzuk's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Something like: exten => _0Z.,n,Dial(${TRUNK}/44${EXTEN:1}) in your dialplan will put a 44 before any number starting 0, and chop the 0 off the front of it (in this example, I use it to stick the country code in front of an external but not international call). Result: 01234567899 becomes 441234567899 -
[windows software] BBC iPlayer Licencing
powdarrmonkey replied to danrhodes's topic in Licensing Questions
The full T&Cs are here: BBC - BBC iPlayer - Help - What are the terms and conditions for BBC iPlayer? Further to that you should speak to the BBC for a definitive answer, since none of us (TMK) are lawyers. -
You should find everything you need in /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/

I've noticed of late that many technical questions are going unanswered because they are so lost in the noise of general chatter. However, I think I've made my point and I don't intend to derail this valuable thread any further.
-
I really don't care, and neither do the posters of more relevant threads who aren't getting answers because they're so lost in all this .

Being a roaming profile won't be a big deal, but if you have redirected special folders you will find that FF won't open the (confusingly) Firefox Profile twice.

Some of the problem is time. You *must* be in a position to assess, very quickly, the risk of there being somebody still in the building should it turn out to be genuinely on fire.
-
That's fine as long as somebody checks it regularly to make sure it hasn't stopped working for whatever reason. Printing paper reports is a check for us, since the office physically do it every day and check that all forms have printer properly. Checks on a laptop should include: runs on battery for a sensible amount of time (say, an hour); has data; can display data without errors; data is up to date; screen and peripherals still work; etc. However, fetching registers in the evening is pretty useless, it gives you no indication of who's on site today. If you're going to do it that way, it needs to happen just after registration periods.
-
We (the school) print a drill register each day just after registration, and record other comings and goings on paper. It's a waste of paper most of the time, but it's better than one of the office girls burning to death waiting for the printer to calibrate.

Two Threads On Teacher Chat Forums TESConnect
powdarrmonkey replied to 6Foot2's topic in General Chat
It's typical TES garbage. This proposed policy is only applicable to co-operative schools, which don't even exist yet. You wouldn't know it from the article though. -
Precisely. Long ago in a moment of stupidity, Microsoft decided that the best way to decide if an address is in the local or remote (local intranet or internet) zones was to check if it has a full stop in it. Yes: internet; no: intranet. This is why fully-qualified but otherwise internal addresses get put in the internet zone and IE refuses to trust them.
-
Actually it was jointly declared by parliament and the admiralty. 'Acceptable' != 'correct' though.
-
huh? It's only a jack when it's flown from a ship. You mean flag.
-
It's not a jack when it's on screen.
-
I don't understand why we need glossy shiny flags At least the current ones look like the real thing (you could add some flappy bits, I suppose).
-
Easier, it's in the non-free repositories (Debian FTW). You need to add non-free to your APT sources.list: example only - http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian lenny main contrib non-free and then install sun-java6-jre.
-
Great. Your (collective) flashy signature logos are burning my eyes and my bandwidth budget. Thanks.

By being a domain controller, it is already a (MS-)NTP server.
-
Clients update intelligently anyway. This script assumes that ordinary users have administrative rights, which they shouldn't.
-
Change it the same as you would on a desktop but on the domain controller performing PDC Emulation. Other DCs and workstations will gradually fall into sync. Do NOT move by six minutes at the same time, your domain will be come useless (as the Kerberos ticket limit is 5 minutes): I recommend no more than a minute every fortnight.

+1, it works a treat on light virtual machines. Don't install from source if you can help it though; there are packages for FreeBSD/NetBSD, Gentoo, openSUSE, Debian and Ubuntu.

[pics] The reliablility of today's electronics
powdarrmonkey replied to computer_expert's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
It's so true. -
Hi, For Windows XP, the prompt should already be system modal. In Vista/7, it currently appears on a secondary desktop, which is less than ideal but will be fixed in 1.5. It's called Second Chance Shutdown and it's also going to be in 1.5.

powdarrmonkey replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Hardware
Either faulty mouse or, if you can reproduce it with other devices, faulty motherboard.
