    I just purchased 33 Ryzen based Lenovo's, the first PCs with Ryzen and NVMe storage for the school. Early testing says these things rip! The PC was still installing drivers and updates so the scores could be a little better. These are so nice I wish I'd bought one for myself!

    Does anyone have an interactive TV that offers standard Miracast with the touchback technology? or properly User Input Back Channel (UIBC) Just press win+K and send the screen and get interactive back.. (no extra software) Not a proprietary system that people call miracast!! if you have it, is it any good? I have the Microsoft Wireless Adapters v2 and v3 they are great for regular non-interactive systems. but no dongle could offer touch back so it'd have to be integrated.

    yes, this used to work well with the old edge. I believe there are fixes to enable the chromium edge but these looked involved. still broken on 20h2.5

    I've just purchased some HP 440 G8 laptops that come with the much improved 11th gen i5. Wow they've made the laptop an inch shorter (still 14" screen) and got rid of the fan. Quite the step up, the gpu is 50% faster and the CPU is 20+ faster. so also consider the 11th gen it's really improved. £515 for the 8gb/256 model. cinebench.. EDIT, the scores show are my own from a HP 440 G7 vs G8

    setup a teams group of all users (as guests) and host a meeting from an old laptop and leave it running. people could drop in and watch. I can't see more than 250+ simultaneously people viewing it. people could chat about it in the messages (if you allow it) and share pictures of what they saw and ask questions.

    as protec says loss of signal. is the projector setup to scan the inputs or is it fixed to VGA in? (this may help)

    You can have the usb / hdmi cables come straight out of the backbox and use a brush plate to make it look nice, I also like to install a coat hook near by so it can be wrapped over it. As above I prefer docking stations (USBC) but sometimes this isn't necessary.

    I found the user (thanks) and they didn't have a current contract (so not current staff) BUT were doing classes as they're a cover teacher. Just started a contract date and sync fixed!

    so the actual error is: "Not adding user id XXXXX to output file teacherRoster.csv as id not found in user list." (about 6 times) I'm using SIMS and I can't find a corresponding ID field in SIMS to see who isn't getting synced.

    Ahh the DRM of modern laptops: "here Ethernet is an optional extra". Soon to come: a laptop with a 4 hour battery that can be unlocked to 8 hours for just £1.99 a month.

    disabled chat for pupils, told them to use the chat within their team groups or (and here is an idea) use Email. For some looked after pupils, I have their TA make an exclusive team group.

    Part of my sysprep process is to run this script. to remove the language experience pack! Remove-AppxPackage -Package Microsoft.LanguageExperiencePacken-GB_19041.11.22.0_neutral__8wekyb3d8bbwe -Allusers yay!

    I have the Geobook 1e, Dell 3190, Dynabook a30, c50, and HP 225g7 . I think the Dynabooks are actually the best of the bunch. (as much as I gripe) RJ45, upgradable mem and HDD, actual m.2 sata drive! The dynabooks also support usbc charging and display alt mode so can work with our docking stations. I haven't spent much time with the HP 255 G7's to be fair. 2x dynabook A30s arrived with dead batteries and refuse to charge but they're being fixed under warranty.

    Using the DFE Dynabook C40 again... Here is what happens to pastel page colours in OneNote. I thought OneNote was broken... straight on and off axis BTW the camera makes it look better than it appears to me. I'm only griping, value laptop, value picture.

    maybe disable the HPET (super guess) maybe the clock is running wayy fast and that date is the highest support in the firmware.

    I hadn't considered a wds driver causing an issue. I do use wmi filtering groups though so it shouldn't have. EDIT: I found a driver group with no filter on it! I'm not sure if that would install drivers to any device imaged though?, still filter added now.

    SOLVED! OK the teacher image was 1909. I did the audio driver install immediately and fail.... I installed 20H2 from Microsoft for a clean install and the sound worked before I even grabbed the drivers. A confusion is that all day yesterday I'd installed the 1909 teacher image but had updated to 20H2 before testing.... So updates not supported? The hardware ID has changed the the HDAUDIO from INTELAUDIO on the fresh 20H2 install, rather that the upgraded 20H2. I'll have to make a new teacher image. (I was going to just not now).... This has been an infuriating quest.

    Oh, forgot to mention that I'm now spending money hardwiring some areas as the wifi has become unusable. The Unifi Nanos replaced the Unifi AP-AC (square) and were installed in the same location. it seems single link devices on 2.4Ghz suffer the worst.

    I have recently updated all my Unifi APs and for some devices now refuse to work correctly, I'm just replacing those devices. No unifi updates have fixed the issues. The devices were fine on the old APs. Devices will connect but pass no traffic, connect once only then never again, or never connect. it's been frustrating luckily it only a few devices that can be replaced. Unifi really is a bag of dump sometimes.

    found the driver path on original, found driver popped onto other laptop and... no. forced the driver an it installed as realtek audio without bluescreening but still no sound. need the realtek sound service as well? can't fathom how to force it's install when the installer insists no realtek device is installed. I'm reimaging the laptop with my teacher image and will first install sound driver to see if something is very wrong with this install.......

    got another one before i image it the device hardware id is : HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0256&SUBSYS_3100F0 21 and used realtek drivers! 6.0.9075.1 (same as the website!)

    you know it strange it also doesn't have any service utility in the downloads for this laptop. (you auto drivers and health check guff) I'll look for the utility as well.
