  1. We have: - Staff (for all school owned staff devices alongside any domain connected devices) Passphrase in place no wireless specific authentication - Students (All student iPads in yr 7-11) RAIUS authenticated with the Passphrase pushed out via MDM - Sixth Form (BYOD for the VI form) RADIUS authenticated and locked down to a limited user group. Each user can only connect one device at a time. No passphrase. And no WiFi to WiFi traffic. - Guest (Including all staff personal devices etc...) RADIUS authenticated and locked down to a limited user group.
  2. When we did it I provided a VM running SIMS and passed control to their support staff who insist on running everything as a local account on the machine but that could be worse. Then I would recommend you get them to remove any previous hardware from your support contract as I discovered (after the fact) that we were due a refund as the kit that they had decommissioned hadn't been removed from the contract.
  3. My motivation was to avoid the engineers getting access to bits they didn't necessarily need
  4. I've got a separate VM running all of the Cunninghams cashless catering inc Impact and Bio Store.
  5. I don't have Windows 10 on the list for this year. Maybe next! My list: - Decommission 1 IT room (33 computers) and redistribute. - 24 new PCs to replace and redistribute - 10 new Macs to replace and redistribute - New CCTV system to install - ESX 5.5 to 6 - 2 virtual hosts to upgrade - Decommission Apple XServe and commission new Mac Mini to run profile manager to manage the existing Macs.
  6. We received it and chuckled. Has anyone used Biostore's replacement to Cunninghams as after a number of very frustrating issues with Cunninghams we'd be very tempted to upgrade to Biostore v3
  7. I've not had any lagging or locking up but be very careful as I've had some very poorly diagnosed faults and subsequent 'fixes' from Cunninghams. Including faults that they tried to pin on our network that essentially were traced back to a hardware fault with the server they provided and thus supported.
  8. We've used air server as a more cost effective method but yet again not free. From what I could see when we reviewed the two well over a year ago the only difference was the price between reflector and air server. I'm not aware of a 'free' way to achieve this.
  9. It appears they have broken the site. Maybe its not just Greece that needs a 'bail out'
  10. We're recruiting for a developer to join our team. Full details can be found here: St John the Baptist School - Vacancies
  11. Meru here - on average 1500 wireless clients connected simultaneously without issue. 48 APs with good internal coverage.
  12. Having flicked through the options I like this one: Network Administrator funny
  13. I hope you don't mind me asking but why are you looking to avoid running it through the mixer? From what you've suggested you allow users to adjust the levels on the other channels so why not the laptop input?
  14. Its a feature of the Enterprise editions (see Veeam version comparison) I'm concerned that it still wouldn't cover my other requirements that aren't backups taken using Veeam.
  15. No - the version of Backup Exec not compatible Is that possible without a third-party piece of software?
  16. Hi All I'm looking for a solution to get data thats already been backed up duplicated to tape. This is the current situation: I've got Veeam backing up our VM cluster. Our frog server backs up to the backup server. Our Mac server backs up to the backup server. So I'm looking for a way to archive this data to tape. I'm aware that Veeam has a duplicate to tape option but we don't appear to have a license for it and the license for Backup Exec which I was hoping to use but that doesn't support Win 2012 Can anyone make any recommendations to low cost options? Thanks in advance.
  17. MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) 2.6GHz Intel Core i7 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 1TB SSD 2x external screens (can't remember make/model) 1080p resolution. VMs running in Parallels currently providing: - Windows 7 Enterprise x64 (also configured as boot camp) - Windows 10 Tech Preview
  18. Are you just using this on multi-function devices? I'm interested in adding this to our existing workgroup printers as we don't have the space for floor-standing copiers. Is there additional hardware available for the printers without the ability to authenticate built-in?
  19. We allow parents to top up in school via credit card and they then credit the student's account. Yes, and other items as well (trips & school branded iPad accessories). One word of warning: Our cashless catering is run by an external company who seem to have an uncanny ability to cause no end of pain with issues left to build up for weeks, months in some cases including: - Students who are eligible for free school meals not showing on the system as eligible even after three remote sessions a site visit from an engineer who proceeded to phone the office while they looked at the issue. - Incorrect balances showing on accounts. - Entire year groups not showing up. I shall avoid naming the company in question but as you may take from the above they can be 'cunning' in their approach We've used them now for 5+ years and there doesn't appear to be much alternatives in the market.
  20. Could you not schedule the content to repeat every three weeks? - While we use Xibo I haven't tried this
  21. We're yet to move to SOLUS 3 (booked to happen over Easter). I'll give PARS a call and see what they recommend...
  22. How do others approach the issue of software that relies on the end user having admin rights on the machine? If I can avoid it I'd prefer not to give all staff local admin rights or to disable UAC. With Windows 7 pre-SP1 (I think) I could fudge it by adjusting the security permissions on the folder(s) but that 'loop hole' appears to have been 'fixed'. Have I missed something or am I going to have to resign myself to disabling UAC? The primary contenders for me are SIMS and PARS but others are cropping up with irritating regularity.
  23. Just to make sure I'm not getting the wrong end of the stick here. You used the option in the install manager to 'Share Gallery content will all computers from a common network location' or you changed the 'Source location' for the gallery content to be installed locally?
  24. I'm sure I'm missing something here but I can't work out what it is... These are the settings within the SMART Install Manager But once installed these are the only galleries that are available Am I missing something? I know that the transform file is being recognised as the license key is being pushed out.
  25. I'm posting this just incase anyone knows someone who might be interested. Who is it aimed at? Undergraduates and graduates interested in following a career in maths teaching and all schools wanting to benefit from specialist Maths support in lessons and an increased pool of specialist teachers (primary, secondary and special schools) Full details can be found here: Surrey Plus Maths Hub - Work Groups I couldn't find any rules against posting non-technical positions so appologies if I'm breaking the rules.
