  1. I've had issues with BT residential, the wireless on the HH5 is crap so I have disabled it and I'm using a seperate WAP but the major issue I've had with the competition is contension it would appear that BT have a set of kit in the local exchange for their customers and then a set of kit they resell other ISPs services through. We're too far 'out in the sticks' to have Virgin fibre or any non-BT offering. I have no way of proving or disproving this but I've now tried two alternatives and both times returned to the dreaded BT That having been said apart from wireless issues I've not had any issues in the past 4 years with the service.
  2. We're recruiting a technician to help expand our support team within the school. Full details available on our website: St John the Baptist School - Vacancies Any questions either PM me or use the email in the application pack.
  3. I believe your looking for the 'reload' command. But based on the title of your post you may have already found this and it isn't working?
  4. This is very likely to be me not 100% understanding what I'm trying to achieve. If I do this without first setting 'Automatically download the content when packages are assigned to distribution points' the package or application just sits there in an amber state and never goes green. No this is a single server on a single site. Thanks for your help. Simon
  5. Thanks Steve, In which case I'm missing something then as with the 'Manually copy the content in this package to the distribution point' the content status for that package/application is stuck in an in progress state. This sounds like I'm missing something. How do I manually copy the content to its self?
  6. Hi All I'm not a complete noob with SCCM but I'm struggling to find the answer to this and its probably because my Googlefoo doesn't appear to be working! After a rebuild of our SCCM server the applications and packages default to 'Manually copy the content in this package to the distribution point'. Previously the default was set to 'Automatically download the content when packages are assigned to distribution points'. Thus far I've been able to manually change this setting before distributing content but after the recent upgrade to SCCM 1606 the "Configuration Manager Client" has the options greyed out meaning that I'm now a little stuck. This means that the Content Status is now stuck as in progress. So can anyone tell me how to change the defaults and how to fix my issue with the config mgr client package? Thanks in advance Simon
  7. Right off down the pub!
  8. Website is up and functioning but their deals changing at 2pm doesn't seam to have happened!
  9. Currently investigating iOS 10 beta on my iPad - the widgets are nice and the Swift Playground is promising if a little slow on an iPad Air 2. If I get time I'll install the MacOS beta into a VM later today.
  10. Thats almost definitely whats catching me out. It was worth a try. Thanks for all your responses.
  11. I'm looking for a way to allow the staff a way to install fonts on to their PCs without giving them admin access. I can find various articles claiming to show you how to do it but thus far no luck. I'm trying to get it working on Windows 7 SP1. Has anyone managed to do this?
  12. I struggled to get too excited over this. Having paid for Alfred prior to the improvements in Apple's built in Spotlight Search bar now all of the additional features aren't something I would use.
  13. Have you tried talking to Fortinet? They've been reasonably responsive when I've raised issues. We have one re-occuring issue but overall iOS devices on iOS9 are working for us without issue.

    Kayaking

I will admit to not being quite up with the price of inflatables but as a deal it looks ok. I've never liked the idea of gaining a puncture part way out on a trip. And having paddled past a large group, 3 adults with 3 kids, some of whom were wearing buoyancy aids:eek: on my local canal to be fair I was a little put off the idea knowing what could go wrong in that situation:doh:. If you've no experience I would strongly recommend investigating a local club or find a friend who's vaguely competent to accompany you so that you can get half an idea of self rescue etc... After that these should be useful resources; Ok the best place, in my opinion, to find out about river licenses is the UK Rivers Guide book (Home - The UK Rivers Guidebook). If your looking for inspiration of where to paddle I've found is Paddle Points (http://paddlepoints.net). Apologies if it seams like I'm teaching you to suck eggs that wasn't my intention but these things can easily be underestimated!
  15. Completed. I would be interested in seeing an anonymised version of the results if possible. Thanks Simon
  16. I was under the impression that the school features were due to be rolled out in the US in 'the fall' with the rest of the world following in 2017. But as is the way three months on I can't find a source for that or if I dreamt it

I didn't realise that they did, but I have always been led to believe that your paying quite a premium for Cisco kit

    New Server

Congratulations on the new role. Your specifications doesn't limit the manufacturers particularly. My current preference is for HP having had some positive experiences with their kit and having a large amount of networking kit with them it gives me a 'one stop shop' for support But this is very subjective. If your going HyperV have a look at Veeam. You may find their free offering fits your requirements. I've answered this above but its because of HP's Lifetime warranty on their networking kit. Make sure your cabinet can take the server (I've seen it on too many occasions someone purchasing a rack mount server to the discover that the rack isn't big enough). There are many other issues that you may want to consider; - If your replacing your switching do you have any need for PoE (I'm guessing you have some kind of provision based on having Meraki WiFi)? - I would investigate what you could move to cloud based service(s) but don't under estimate the strain on your internet connection. I'm not massively keen on RM as I found that when I took over as NM over a year ago we were able to get the same level of service from a local firm with a far better price tag attached by going vanilla but its heavily dependant on your capabilities as our requirements for support are occasional calls for the more technical support. I'm not saying it would/wouldn't work for you but don't rule it out.
  19. Care to share any of your PowerShell scripts?
  20. Very similar here.
  21. Meru here: - 1,500+ clients - 81 APs Happy with its capabilities. Currently have good/average internal coverage will be rolling out some external coverage over the next year.
  22. I expect to do the same if not another provider. I was just hoping for something a little more concrete to pass by management who've spotted £30 MDM and like the look of the price I'm not complaining at you as I would have been a little surprised that Apple would document it quite as black and white as I'd hoped. But if you don't ask . . . Thanks for all your responses.
  23. Thanks, I don't doubt you but ... ...is that officially documented anywhere? I can see a number of people stating very similar views but need to back it up in some way.
  24. Just as an out of interest is anyone successfully using Profile Manager with 1,000+ iOS Devices? If so are you integrating it with AD? If yes are you using just the user accounts in OD user groups or are you using AD Security Groups? My experience thus far with Profile Manager is less than positive and before I abandon it all together I want to ensure Thanks in advance. Simon
