Anybody else think of the old cartoon "Mysterious cities of gold"?

I have the moto 360 and my wife has the gear 2 titanium. Both have heart rate monitors on them and both require you to not move (and normally press them hard into your arm) to measure your pulse, so not really useful for running. However they do both have good pedometers built in. The battery on the gear 2 was lasting about 4 days, the moto 360 1 day. Interestingly though my phone came with Jabra pulse Bluetooth earphones, where the heart rate monitor is built into the headset (reader is inside your ear), might be worth a look at as an alternative.

I think you should suggest they send the spam filter on an etiquette course to solve the issue. That way it will know the mail is important if the user drinks their afternoon tea with their pinkie out

We use 2 way radios as all of site can be covered, however you soon hit privicy issues as any info cones out of the speaker for all to hear. If you have full wifi coverage would it be worth looking at running an internal voip style server and getting some cheap wifi voip phones?

We have it here as well with eset endpoint v6.... oh why did I turn email threat alerts on, I get a new one every time some clicks on a link in google.

I think I used this walkthrough (note it doesnt mention auto domain joining for clients before /clean) https://mizitechinfo.wordpress.com/2013/06/10/simple-guide-how-to-rename-domain-name-in-windows-server-2012/
-
At one point in the the process your active directory will contain information for both new and old domains. After switching to new domain you run cleanup to remove info about old domain (I dont think it has any negative effect to leave doing cleanup for a while).

Had to do this when changing school name... with exchange in tow. It was fairly straight forward, only thing it doesnt make a big fuss about is between renaming and cleaning up.... make sure all your pc`s are turned on/reboot them/check them, they will auto switch domains. If you dont and run cleanup, you will have to manually leave old domain and join new domain.

From memory this happens because windows update was designed with a maximum amount of catalogue data it can transfer per session, with so many updates in windows updates now it exceeds this limit. It will download so much then error. If you keep hitting retry it will eventually work from then on (it resumes download rather then restarts), after imaging it takes our laptops about 4 attempts before it runs successfully.

I wrote our own in PHP/MySQL as other did too much. Gets hardware spec/software/sometimes serial number via WMI calls. As its web based I load web page up on my phone and walk round with Bluetooth barcode reader to do audit checking.

We have had it before when the charge circuit was dying in the emergency lighting.

Our SLT in charge of ICT across the curriculum had all teachers/staff do a GCSE level ICT test that lasted 1 hour. It showed very interesting results and individual + group training sessions were devised around the results. Asking someone how good they are at something isn't usually useful if they think they will be in trouble if they answer they don't know. If you have SLT backing it might be worth doing your survey in more of a test form to identify room for improvement rather then getting vague responses.

There's loads of flash animations etc on the web if you google fetch decode execute cycle (eg. http://www.hartismere.com/staticvle/ictskills/FetchExecute.swf ) it just depends on what it needs to do.

We recently got a Canon Legria HF R66 video camera for filming school shows, they drama department likes it. If you go down the DSLR route be careful as a lot of them wont video more then 30 minutes at a time and have to be stopped/restarted due to tax reasons (tax goes up a lot for video cameras which are defined as recording more then 30 minutes video).

There's a difference between OEM and OEM SLP keys. OEM SLP keys are where the OS is tied to a PC/Laptop by the manufacturer eg. dell. The key used is generic and not unique. You can turn a normal windows install into an SLP one (been a while since I've done this so this is from memory), you need to install the appropriate certificate for your manufacturer onto the OS before it will activate using SLP key.

Were using ESET, switched to V6 at the beginning of October. The earlier versions of V6 were a headache but since the latest client came out it seems to be working well.

A quick and nasty batch file script I used when I hit this problem, to set the ownership and grant rights to the user for their home drive. I run this in the same folder as the students folders. It assumes the folders are named the same as the students login. for /D %%i in (*) do ( icacls %%i /SETOWNER domain\%%i /T cacls %%i /T /E /P domain\%%i:c cacls %%i /T /E /G domain\%%i:c ) you will need to change domain\ to your domain name.

Creating a Web Login which authenticates to Active directory?
PyROm replied to Zezima's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
If your web server is a member of the domain, under IIS you can set your site to use authentication, both basic and windows auth (which will auto login for you if your website is in intranet sites in ie, or allowed under ntlm in firefox). Then in your script you can use the server variable AUTH_USER to get the logged in user in the form of domain\username, eg. in php you would use the variable $_SERVER['AUTH_USER'] to get it. -
We used "2012r2 with windows 10" kms key, updated our existing server 2012 r2 key to this one, then did slmgr.vbs /act on server to activate server. Didnt have to wait for 25 computer limit again.

Hi, Ive just had to set this up through smoothwall. Probably not very secure but after disabling server certificate revocation checking I then allowed all port access to 66.235.128.0/19 in networking>outgoing>policys to allow it to connect (the ip range belongs to adobe).
