  1. Indeed I did. The biggest problem I found was power as, unless you have someone who will religiously change batteries, you are limited as to placement. We bought a bird-box with space for a camera from HandyKam (who seem to have gone bust) similar to https://gardenature.co.uk/collections/camera-ready-nest-boxes/products/product-pitched-roof-bird-box but with a felted roof. Got a perspex panel from eBay to replace the internal "ceiling", though most such boxes seem to come with a wooden one with a hole for the lens. This was paired with a small wireless IP cam - we used the C1 version of https://foscam.uk.com/foscam-c2m which just about fitted under the eaves when the stand etc was removed. Bought a long micro-USB lead to provide power (the plug was connected to a RCD just in case). The box was placed high on a wall in our courtyard garden with the lead going into the building through a window. As we have old wooden ones it was easy enough to make a channel. The supplied app worked well and I managed to get the feed to stream using VLC to the "display board" (Laptop/TV) in the school entrance - so something like this with OBS should be possible. As I had to Google OBS, don't take it as a given! The site above does do an "all in one" solution if you have the budget: https://gardenature.co.uk/pages/wifi-bird-box-camera-system though rolling our own looks like it will save £50 or so. Unfortunately last autumn some kids used the bird-box as a climbing aid whilst trying to break in after hours and it is no longer useable. Camera is still OK, somewhat surprisingly!
  2. I think the ball is in @smurfomatic's court.
  3. ??? Someone posted and then deleted the correct answer. Maybe they didn't want to pick a quote?
  4. "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @$$…and I'm all out of bubblegum."
  5. It's from Jaws.
  6. Puss tries some hot sauces.
  7. Currently free at Playstation for PS4 and PS5. Currently free at GOG.
  8. Looks like it's "Never say 'Nevers' again". HBO have given the show the chop before they air season 1.2 and rumour has it that they may not even air the episodes and are shopping it around. They are also rumoured to be removing "Westworld" and others from their platform and their owners, Warner, may well not proceed with a third "Wonder Woman" film. Can't say the cancellation is a surprise, but I did enjoy the few episodes that aired.
  9. Wish I'd seen this plug discussion before buying a non-connected one earlier in the week!
  10. Finished The Umbrella Academy Season 3 earlier this week. Really enjoyed it, though the ending was a bit confusing: I could just about see hoe the character who was getting a "happy ending" could be explained (though not sure how both characters that they wanted to be with could co-exist) but couldn't understand why one of the newbies was nowhere to be seen. Next season is the final one, so hopefully things will be clearer.
  11. I was going to ask what people's thoughts on this were. Looking at the boiler usage, it seems to take an age to heat the house after basically being off all night. Tried leaving it at 18 last night as an experiment, but the results are inconclusive so far. Next week I'll be at home, so I may try 18 at night 19 during the day so that I'm there to see how it goes rather than potentially leaving Mme and Mlle LeMarchand to shiver.
  12. My last phone was a Nokia 7 Plus and the current one is an Ulefone Armor 7e. I'd be happy to go for either brand when I need to. The Nokia is still in use by Mme LeMarchand and is possibly the more "sensible" brand in terms of updates and warranty (I had the power input board replaced within days of the warranty expiring) but some of the Ulefones are great value for money in terms of spec.

  14. This is Christmas (Sky Movies) When his pitch for a Christmas ad is rejected as "too unrealistic", Adam decides to test it on his commuter train and announces a Christmas party with everyone on the coach welcome to attend and contribute. Although initially dubious, his fellow travellers begin to warm to the idea, and each other. This year's Christmas and train-themed Sky Original (after Michael Sheen in 2021's Last Train to Christmas which I really must get around to watching) is a wannabe Love, Actually with less romance and far too much time spent on the main couple. I felt that we needed to get to know more about the other characters beyond the main pair and the pairing with Timothy Spall to give them a bit more depth. Still quite a sweet watch but last year's A Christmas No. 1 was far superior. P.S. Star Alfred Enoch is the son of OG Who companion William Russell, who recently reprised his role as Ian Chesterton.

  16. Apparently the TV Reacher matches the author's description. Unlike Tom Cruise. (The films are OK though). Impressed by the show, Mme LeMarchand read one of the books but gave up on it.
  17. Troll (Netflix) When a mining operation disturbs something under the Norwegian mountains, it's up to a palaeontologist and her estranged father - and expert in folklore - to save the country. As you can tell from the trailer, it's basically Trollzilla, but it's nice to see something from a different culture than normal. Not the greatest film ever, but well worth a look.
  18. In my experience (so far) yes, even on the machines that I've had to take the e-hammer to for installation. They have all continued getting updates, but upgrades have had to be done manually. However MS have not guaranteed this will always be the case. I suspect that when 11 has reached a certain level of penetration they'll start playing hardball.
  19. I don't know, but I do know they don't look like Julie Andrews. (At 1.08) (Also, why is an American Robin living in London?)
  20. One of the problems I've found with using unsupported hardware: You'll get the updates for the version you have installed, but you have to install the upgrade to the next version up manually. This isn't too onerous or slow and it's only twice a year, but not something I'd want to do school wide!
  21. She'll always be Lt Saavik from "The Wrath of Khan" to me.
  22. I've done it on my (unsupported) machines. Very few officially W11 capable machines in any of my sites, so otherwise a bit pointless.
  23. Did you get this sorted OK?
  24. Anyone else think that Willow's mate in the new show looks like William Smith? (He was Conan's Dad amongst others)
  25. "it's" and "they wrote". Too late to edit but the typos are bugging me!
