Don't know about 4k fans, but my experience is that most people who read SF will also read fantasy and vice versa. Most do lean to one side, though. My deepest involvement in GW's output has been primarily their fantasy output via reading the books Kim Newman wrote (initially as "Jack Yeovil") which are mainly OG Warhammer.

The thumbnail almost put me off clicking play (if I wanted to watch people doing sexy stuff, I'd go to a dedicated site), but it does look funny. I thought the "mole" was something, erm, self-made at first, though.

Saw this is playing at our local cinema in a couple of weeks. Hadn't heard of it and the poster didn't sell it - glad I checked the trailer. Might be some wasted suffering, though. Some interesting info in the comments (for once).

I wasn't aware that the first part troubled the inside of UK cinemas, so this seems a curious decision. Also, is it me or did the sun never shine in early 17th Century France?

On a film/TV place I frequent that is mainly full of Americans, even the normally calm ones are incensed about a Limey suggesting that such a thing would happen. I had to point out that they have form in the area - as recently as 2021. Admittedly it's hard to see what might unite California and Texas.

Shame Alan Moore is such an old curmudgeon and they never got to finish.

Andre Braugher, probably best known to most via "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" has passed away after a short illness. He was only 61 . My favourite part of his was as the Captain in "Last Resort", which is well worth tracking down if you can find it. Although it was designed as an ongoing series, despite its cancellation after 13 episodes it has one of those endings that does bring things to a good enough conclusion. Very hard top find a decent quality trailer, so apologies for the 480p.

Maybe "David" is an underpants sock gnome.

Our local Wilko is now Poundland. In a triumph of planning the small Poundland, which had seen off a larger one in the site opposite Wilko (ex-Woolworths, now the Job Centre), closed Thursday night while the larger one didn't open until Saturday. The staff all got moved over and they rehired some of the Wilko staff too.

As you've invited comment I hope this isn't against the forum rules but basically, yes. £24k = around £16k take home? Subtract rent and food/utilities from that and it soon dwindles. Didn't see the advert, but unless you could attract someone still living with their folks in the area it's not a wage that is going to make people think it's worth the move. I've been looking around half-heartedly myself, but most of the higher-paid EDU jobs would either involve moving house (don't wanna go through that unless it's a pay rise beyond my skill set) as a few quid extra/week isn't worth the hassle/extra commute. ATM it's only worth my moving if it's a no chance of being made redundant from school within walking distance. When I started, IT Tech jobs needed a much smaller range of skills/knowledge as there was always the LA to fall back on. Not like that any more. I realise that you are bound by MAT/LA/Governors/DfE decisions and haven't plucked a wage out of thin air, but I think techs are beginning to feel that they deserve better pay and schools need to realise that they are going to have to start paying for IT.

A Storm for Christmas (Netflix) Trailer NSFW - F-Bomb on audio and subtitles Christmas is coming, but a bunch of disparate characters find their plans are thwarted when a storm hits. 6 episodes of 30-40 minutes. Set mainly in a Norwegian airport, this is kind of like "Love Actually" with less romance: A bit of comedy, a bit of pathos, and yes, a bit of romance too. It took me while to warm to it but by the end I was thoroughly enjoying the show. Well worth a look if the trailer tickles your fancy, but don't plan on just watching episode 5 one night - you'll need to find out how it's going to end. Side note: Really surprised by how much English is used in Norway. At times it was a bit like watching an Indian movie in terms of language.

Studio 666 (Netflix) TRAILER NSFW. Seeking inspiration for a new album, the Foo Fighters take residence in a house that turns out to have been the site where a previous band were killed by their frontman. It isn't long before Dave Grohl starts acting strangely... The Foos are pretty good sports and don't take themselves too seriously in this and, while none of them are going to be winning Oscars, I've seen much worse "band" acting*. Not a great film, but tolerably entertaining. Very sweary, though. *Check out, or rather don't, ABC's "Mantrap" The Shepherd (Disney +) Xmas Eve 1957, a young pilot volunteers for a night flight so that he can make it home for Christmas. When his instruments fail he realises that he may not make it. Based on a 1975 short story my Frederick Forsyth (a present to his wife) that John Travolta bought the rights to some time ago (he was originally going to play the young pilot) this is quite a sweet and moving short. Only some overly shiny CG and a misjudged sense of the passing of time during the flight stop in from being a stone cold Xmas classic. Trailer not posted here (I posted it elsewhere) as it gives a false sense of where the story is heading in parts as well as giving away too much of the story. Worth 40 minutes of your time.
