    I hope so cause if that series 7 slate is the best they can do when it comes to Windows 8 Intel based slates they're in trouble. I mean it weighs nearly twice as much as the Android tablets and has a 3 hour battery life. Sounds bad enough before you even mention the £1000 price tag! Samsung Series 7 Slate PC review -- Engadget

    It's disapppointing that Windows 8 RT tablets at sounding like such a complete disaster at this point in time. I mean :- * No Domain or group policy support * No backwards compatibility for any existing window software * No Flash Support They might come good in a few years time when software support picks up, Flash dies off and if MS implement Domain/GP support but right now I'm left wondering why they bothered?

    Everytime I've been to buy glasses I've had to go back to the optician to get the fit adjusted a couple of days later as I almost always find they don't sit properly so this would put me off ever buying glasses online. Might just be me though.....!

    Start phoning around for quotes. There's no way you should be paying anything like that! Sounds like they've charged you the premium without subtracting the no-claims bonus? Either that or your postcode is in the middle of a warzone?

    Nothing's changed that I can think of? There are errors being reported here under the an advertisment that's failing but selecting all doesn't display any of the logs? (it works on other ones though?) We are running in native mode so I'm guessing that is probably is down to a certificate having expired somewere but it's odd there isn't an error visible on a log file indicating communication is failing because of it?

    Yes, they're all appearing with "YES" next to them Yes, I can see all of the packages listed there number in the scheme described. Yeah, packages that have been deployed previous are showing up in the above cache folder but nothing since we started experiencing the issue.

    The Distribution point looks OK. As you've suggested the fact that communication between the server/clients isn't working does potentially point to it being related to certificates. I'll double-check. Are there any SCCM certificates which could specifically result in the above behavoiur if they expired?

    We've been been experiencing a problem whereby advertisments (whether they're for OS deployment/software/etc) aren't being picked up by any of the client computers on our network. I've tried checking through the logs but I can't see anything that could be causing it? There don't seem to be any obvious error messages and we haven't made any changes/updates that I can link back to when this started happening. Worryingly this is affecting every computer on our network and it means we're unable to re-image computers or deploy software so I'm just about at the point where I need to log a support call with Microsoft as it needs fixing sooner rather than later! Is there anything obvious that I might have missed which we should try/check before we do?

    Well I was in the local store today and ended up buying a new iPad 16gb wi-fi model! I'm sitting typing this on it at the moment in fact I guess the thing that really sold it to me was the screen resolution/quality and the general smoothness of web browsing on it compared to android. I realise it's probably not an entirely fair comparison as the android tablet would have had to render flash/etc as well but on the websites I tried if was a lot more usable. That and every video website I used seemed to work ok regardless of the fact it doesn't have flash. Guess it must default to YouTube or another alternative if it detects you don't have flash available? Been playing with it for an hour or so and I'm pretty happy with it so far!

    I did like the look of the Asus tranformer prime though I've not had a chance to play with one. Looking online most of them seemed to be priced over £500 which is more than I'd be willing to spend on a tablet.

    Yeah but based on the Windows8 preview I'm not particularly impressed by it to be honest. That and by the time they make a Windows tablet with a decent spec (i3/64gb ssd) it'll likely end up costing £500-600 which is way more than I'd contemplate for a tablet device. Plus the weight/battery life aren't likely to come close to android/IOS tablets.

    I'm keen to get a 10" tablet primarily for general web surfing, reading e-books, watching movies, etc. I've been having a look around at what's available but can't decide which model to go for? I've seen a few android tablets on the go for about £250-300 that looked quite reasonable but I'd also contemplated whether it's worth spending the extra to buy an ipad3 (I really like the look of the new hi-res screen!). Having said that I would ideally prefer the flexibility offered by an Android tablet when it comes to Adobe Flash and storage/connectivity (SDcard/USB/etc.) though. At the other end of the scale I've seen a few non-branded android tablets on amazon/e-bay that can be had for as little as £100-150. They seem to get above average reviews and look OK for the money spec-wise but I've no idea whether they're actually any good? Any suggestions, thoughts, recommendations?

    Yeah, it certainly feels like the pace of change in schools is increasing when it comes to IT. To be honest I wouldn't worry about it as the future will only ever be more reliant on technology but you may find the skills required for you job change. For the first time I'm actually starting to wonder whether there's much of a future in "Windows" as a general end user device though. Given you can buy decent android tablets for £200, Ipad's for £300-400 I can't help but feel Microsoft is going to price itself out of the market when it brings out Windows8 tablets and starts asking what will likely be over £500 for them. I can see a lot of home users giving up on Windows altogether in the not too distant future if things keep going the way they are! Having said that in IT things always change so predicting the future is pretty tricky....

    That looks really nice Presmuably if the 15mph restriction is the only thing stopping it then Specialized will simply release a 'restricted' version limited to that speed for the UK? Having said that there's no way I'd spend nearly £5000 on a bicycle even if it was capable of 28mph!

    I though the official UK price ipad2 was £329? Surely it would be crazy not to spend an extra £70 quid and get the new model?

    Had a play with it on a desktop after work today but it was pretty hard going. I can see it working OK on a tablet but as a desktop OS if feels too dumbed down and lacking in functionality. Granted you can go back to the 'desktop' view but this feels like it's been bolted on as an afterthought. On the plus side the mail/skydrive 'cloud' integration at OS level is a welcome feature. Whilst it might help MS fight off Apple's dominance of the tablet market but I can't quite imagine how it's going to fit in with our existing school desktop/laptop infrastructure at the moment! When the Windows Vista/7 beta's were released I started using them on my main desktop at home pretty much straight away but Windows 8 at it stands leaves me wondering if I'll ever want to use it on a desktop? Hopefully some of the changes prior to release will make it a bit more desktop friendly

    We generally order new PC's around June to replace existing kit. Unfortunately this delay means that rather than getting shiny new Ivy bridge PCs it will probably delay the rollout of new models from the likes of HP/Dell meaining that we have to settle for buying sandy bridge ones again!

    The hardware looks nice but with Ipod touches/etc out there the concept of paying £200 for a portable gaming device and £40 for each game seems a bit out of date. The fact that it's main competitor (Nintendo 3DS) is half the price and has a much better selection of games means the Vita's going to have tough fight ahead of it.

    I had a play with one the other week. It's a really nice handset with an awesome screen and ICS is a cracking update. Makes Android seem so much more cohesive. As others have said the size of the device (and lack of an SD card slot) put me off in the end though.
